Chapter 30 - Responsibilty

Chapter 30

The Kim's Residence

He lit incense and paid his respect to the large photo of his lovely wife, Dam-Bi with the most beautiful smile and lived a carefree life.

He kneels and closes his eyes.

"Good morning, Honey! How are you doing? Why did you have to leave? The day I lost you, I lost a piece of myself, and I don't remember the last time that I smiled. At a time when I was genuinely happy, you were my happiness and my sole purpose in life, but I know that you wouldn't want me to take my life. –In a few months is the anniversary of your death? Are you hungry? Should I make one of your favorite desserts? I know I always scold you for eating sweets, but I would anything to see that smile of yours just one more time…I will be away for a couple of days it's a company business trip, but I will come back home to you, okay? I will see you later, I love you."

He opened his eyes and stood up staring at the smiling face.

"Dam-Bi."

His heart ached badly and yearned to hear her voice once more clinging desperately to the memories of her.

His first love and his last.

The bedroom has her special touch with a unique taste.

A beautiful feminine bedroom with a wallpaper accent wall, a canopy bed, blush bedding and curtains, and a chic chandelier with touches of light pink. Mirrored nightstands and a pink bench. There's a shelf of art canvas with a couple of displayed books. Stuffed animals and many throw pillows.

Her cosmetic, clothes, and accessories were still there how she left it since the day she was admitted into the hospital.

"Would you forgive that I slept with Kang Choon Hee even though it was an accident? I was drunk and I thought that she was you--- You know that I would never do anything to betray you! But ... What if."

He stopped and did not want to think about it anymore. He could not bare the though of sleeping with another woman and not using protection.

He did not need to with his wife.

He sighs.

"There is a possibility."

He showered and did his daily routine.

He walked down the stairs in a dark blue solid colored collar shirt that button down with long sleeve and matched his slim straight pants perfectly.

"Young Master."

The servant greeted.

"What the schedule for the week?" He questioned.

Assistant Jimin unlocked the calendar on the touchscreen tablet. "Monday is the trip to Beijing, Wednesday is the meeting with the board of directions 8am, It's your mother birthday on Thursday I went ahead and book that flight for you, sir. What kind of gift would you like to present?"

" It does not matter but make sure my bookings are clear in a few months."

"May I have asked why, sir?"

"It is the anniversary of my wife death."

He answered with no expression and said casually.

"I am so sorry, how foolish! Please forgive me I will not make the same mistake again."

"Okay.

Breakfast is ready.

Pink velvet dinner chairs sit around a pedestal dining table in the gorgeous dinning space with a decorated feminine interior.

Two plated meals across from the table from each other.

"Isn't it good Dam-Bi? I ordered the chef to make your favors for now on."

He could imagine her smiling face and her hand reaching for the saltshaker. Talking about her performance and adoring fans from one of her concerts.

Without realizing it, he pushed the saltshaker towards the seat.

"Excuse me, sir. I forgot to be mentioned that mail been delivered for you. I do not mean to pry but did you go to the clinic recently." Assist Jimin asked and handed him the envelope respectfully.

" No--." He stopped in his tracks when he opened the envelope that had the paternity test results.

99.9 percent.

That confirmation.

He did not know what to think about his mind went completely blank.

Happiness?

Sadness?

Confused?

Shocked?

N

He did not feel any of the emotions. His body just felt numbed and stuck in one place with no thoughts to share. He scooted out of his chair and grab his jacket.

" Sir, the flight is in three hours. Do you need me to take you somewhere?" Assistant Jimin asked.

"I will be right back; I need to run a quick errand."

"Where are you going? —" Assistant Jimin said then the door closed in his face.

"I was adamant that it was going be negative and I told her that I would take responsibility. —But what was her reason for keeping them? It could not have been the money because she turns down a hundred thousand dollars. To seduce me but it still that she could care less about me and my family. She's working hard and struggling for a life for her and the children. What should I do? Drive to her apartment? Give her a call or maybe bring her something to eat?"

He drove a few miles and saw her working at the care center answering phone calls.

"The food is going to get cold." He thought and looked at the takeout in the passenger seat.

The security guard walked towards the black car and asked." Are you waiting for someone? Do one of your children attention the care center programs."

He quickly started the vehicle and drove away.

Choon Hee put down the phone and took out a small lunch then overheard two co-workers whispering but not quiet enough because anyone could hear them from a mile away.

"Have you heard? There was a suspicious man earlier and he was looking through the window of one of the workers."

"They did not get his name."

"People says that they have not seem him in these part of town before."

Sick.

A new text messages

After work Choon Hee took the bus to her apartment complex she walked across the street to the entrance. She was exhausted from working the extra shifts and have not had the chance to get a proper amount of rest.

"What took you so long?"

She lifted her head and recognized the voice then seen a tall man seem standing in front of the door. She did not have the energy to entertain company.

"So, why are you here?" She asked awkwardly.

The nerve of this woman.

"I bought you take out from that restaurant from last time make sure to warm up it later."

"Okay."

"What's with your attitude? I expected a different reaction from you I drove here to show that I want to be involved. You could at least be happy I risk my flight to come see you"

"Why would happy that you did that? You are not my boyfriend but the children father you do not need to try so hard. The both of us can live separation lives and raise them together. —A lot of families does it and thank you for the food, I appreciate it."

"I do not want my children living in this dump."

"It's just temporary until I earn enough money for a better place."

"How about you stay at my house until you can find something better? You are working hard and paying nine hundred dollars for rent. You can not even spend money of the children; do you have a nursery yet? What are your plans? Do you at least have diapers and wipes?"

He's right.

Then continues "Do not take this out of proportion I'm just doing what my wife would have done."

"That does sound better than what I'm doing now. Perhaps, I can take you up on that offer but now, I just want to rest. Can you talk more about this when you return from your trip? Don't you have a flight to catch?

He looked down at his watch and his face sunken then he ran downstairs and drove off.

Finally.

Choon Hee unlocked the door and took off her shoes at the front door.

In a daze she stumbles towards the bathroom and turned the shower handle adjusting it to the perfect temperature. The first drops are cold but quickly become warm to the touch and then warm steam filled the room

For those first few minutes, her mind became clear.

She took the deepest breath and thought about what he said.

After an average of 20 minutes, she stepped out the shower and looked at her naked body in the broken mirror. She rubs her hand around her huge stomach and felt flutters.

"We're almost there."

She put on a nightgown and place a mask on her face for ten minutes then laid down on the mattress with her feet elevated on the pillows to reduce the swelling in her ankles.

She scrolled through baby names.
