As Tsukito was beating the eggs in the bowl, he was listening to some radio. This was his usual morning routine before going to school. However, he wasn't exactly a news person so he would always listen to something fun. These days he had even found a funny one.
"Good morning Tokyo! This is DJ WAKABA *HORNS*. How are you doing everybody? It's the start of another day and as you all know with a new day comes a new guest!
Our guest for today is *Drum roll* famous scholar Hirose Shoda!
Now, if you do not have an academic background, you might not have heard of him but this is a man that changed our lives! He is the inventor of Lithium-Air Batteries! Doesn't sound impressive? I agree as well. So why not we ask our guest about how Lithium-Air Batteries are important?"
"Wow, we are going to get right into it, are we? *Ahem* Well, Lithium-Air Batteries have been a problem for the material science community since the late 90s ever since the theory itself was conceived"
"Boring! *Boo!*"
"Hahaha, well you are right. It might sound boring to the uneducated. Then why don't I tell you why they are so important with an example that you can relate to?"
"I feel like you just insulted me but out of respect for you, I will let this slide. So what kind of example are we talking about?"
"Wakaba-san, how frequently do you charge your phone?"
"I charge it overnight as every normal person does"
"Yes, and with Lithium-Air Batteries, you won't have to charge your phone for at least two weeks and that is just a safe estimate. Who knows, it might even last a month!"
"*Gasp* It can't be that exaggerated, can it?"
"Of course! Otherwise, why would the government and other institutions advertise it so much? I revolutionized the energy industry single-handedly"
"Amazing but if you were that good why haven't we heard about you before?"
"It's a funny story actually. I am a mathematician by heart. One day my friends asked me, why do you keep studying such a weird subject? I told them Mathematics was the language of the universe and it could change the world. They didn't believe me so here we are"
"OMG! Are you saying that you invented such a thing out of spite!?"
"Hahaha maybe?"
"So wh-"
The sweet sound of the radio had suddenly cut off. When Tsukito turned to see why.
He saw Yahiro.
"Geez, how many times do I have to tell you not to listen to such weird channels? Someday you are going to be a crazy otaku. I just know it!" she said as she naturally wore an apron and started helping Tsukito with the breakfast.
Yahiro Haru, Tsukito and Haruto's childhood friend. She had long brown hair and dark-brown eyes, she also had pale skin. Basically, a traditional Japanese beauty. There was a cute giant white ribbon that was holding her hair in a ponytail. In her school uniform, she looked so beautiful.
When he started to have dangerous thoughts Tsukito just looked towards her empty chest and any thoughts he had towards her instantly vanished.
"Why do I feel like you were thinking something rude just now?" said Yahiro as she squinted her eyes.
"You must be imagining things" Tsukito started to mix the miso soup and handed the omelette batter to Yahiro.
"Bell peppers? Haruto must have done something that infuriated you again. Oh yeah, guess who came with me today?" Yahiro said as she started to chop some green bell peppers and then added them to the batter.
"H-hello, Tsu-nii!"
Tsukito was startled by the sudden intrusion of a young girl that looked barely out of elementary school. She had short black hair and bright blue eyes. With her snaggleteeth peeking out of the corners of her mouth, she had a somewhat mischievous air. She looked familiar but he couldn't put a name over her face. Seeing that, Yahiro elbowed his chest discreetly and whispered something in his ear without letting the young girl notice.
"Ah! Sae-chan. I couldn't recognize you at first glance since you... grew up so much?"
Saeki Keiko, just like Yahiro, she was the twins' childhood friend but she was one year younger than them. Also unlike Yahiro, she had moved away about three years ago.
Seeing that Tsukito praised(?) her growth Saeki was happy. She was nervous to meet the twins after so long.
"Why don't you go and wake up Haruto? The breakfast is almost ready. I am assuming you are going to eat as well?"
"Yes! I will bring Haru-nii down in a jiffy!"
Then the little critter just zoomed upstairs to wake up Tsukito's brother.
"She is going to attend our high school as a freshman this year. She was worried that you guys wouldn't recognize her, so she was hesitant about coming here"
As they were speaking Yahiro was helping Tsukito set up the table.
"And she would be right. I really didn't recognize her. What's she doing here anyway?"
"My Mother heard from our neighbours that her parents were getting a divorce, so she is staying here with her maternal grandparents in the meantime"
"Really? The first time I am hearing of such a thing"
"That's why I keep telling you to attend the Neighbourhood Association Meeting every Thursday. Even if there is nothing important being discussed, there are at least some juicy gossip, so you wouldn't be left out of the loop"
"Oh, come on. You know that I don't like sitting around a bunch of housewives, eating melon seeds. Also, we have you, don't we? Our pretty little spy. I am sure that you will tell me if there is anything we need to know. Just like now"
"Huhum, I am amazing, aren't I?"
Yahiro knew that Tsukito was bullsh*tting her but she was still happy with the compliment.
*SCREECH*
As the duo finally finished setting the table up, they heard a scream coming from upstairs.
"Well, seems like Haruto is awake... he should be here shortly. Anyway, you got the goods?"
A pair of black sunglasses suddenly formed on the pair's faces. They looked like they were about to have a drug deal.
"Here are the greens that you wanted. They are extra doughy. Where is mine?"
Tsukito put a sealed tupperware on top of the table. Yahiro took it and got a good whiff of the green goods inside. The smell was mouth-watering!
"Just like you asked, no nuts."
Yahiro put the tupperware she brought as well.
Both of them were happy with their small deal under the table.
"Glad to make business with you" X 2
The duo shook hands as they pulled their own tupperware towards themselves, afraid that someone would come and steal them.
"Hm? What is that smell?"
Oh no! The food monster was here!
"What are you hiding behind your backs?"
Haruto asked as he sat down and took a bite out of his omelette. Then he frowned due to the taste of bell peppers.
"Nothing!"
Yahiro yelped which made Haruto even more suspicious.
"You know what, you two look like you would make a good married couple. Why don't you start dating already?"
Haruto said with a cheeky smile. Prompted the duo to look at each other.
'What is this b*stard saying!?'
'I don't know?'
'Doesn't he know that you like him'
'No! And I thought I was being obvious. Am I getting rejecting?'
'How am I supposed to know that!?'
'Aren't you twins? Use your telepathy or something?'
'You know as well as me that's some X-men bs!'
"See, you can even communicate with just looking into each other's eyes. So stop being shy already"
Haruto was convinced that Yahiro and Tsukito were in love with each other but they were just being considerate because of him. After all, they were always a trio during their childhood.
So if Yahiro were to date one of them, the other one would be left out. Knowing how much Tsukito took care of him, he must have turned down Yahiro's confession due to such reasons.
"Really? Yahiro-nee I didn't know that. I am sorry, I was being inconsiderate by coming here"
Saeki felt bad all of a sudden. She felt like she was intruding upon Yahiro's territory without meaning to. From now on, she would make sure to give Tsukito and her enough space so that they can be alone together.
"You don't need to feel bad. He is just spewing bs. Here, have some cookies"
In order to cheer her up, Tsukito opened the tupperware he got from Yahiro and offered her some chocolate cookies which were freshly baked this morning.
"Yes, Sae-chan. I can not imagine myself being with this depressing guy. So here, have some green tea mochi as well"
Following Tsukito's example, Yahiro also offered Saeki some of the mochi Tsukito made for her.
"I knew it! I knew you guys were hiding something from me"
Haruto said as he reached out to take some cookies as well but his hand was smacked away by Tsukito.
"No cookies for you. Finish your bell peppers first. You are not a kid so don't be so picky"
Tsukito glared at Haruto as he watched him eat the omelette slowly, making sure that he swallowed every last bite of it.
