Ezekiel was feeling like... well, he didn't know what he felt.
It was just... empty.
He knew.
He knew he was the reason why Glen was dead.
He heard about Glen's stories, legends.
He knew how ruthless he could be.
Strangely, that was not what Ezekiel felt when he met him.
Instead, he felt like he met a kind man.
If Glen didn't say it with his own mouth, Ezekiel would have never thought he would be the Night Rider.
Could he have lied?
Yes, maybe. But Ezekiel believed. That was the kind of feeling he had towards Glen, trust.
However, he ruined it!
If not for Ezekiel's request he knew that Glen never would have gone out of his own way to save a bunch of strangers.
Maybe this was contradictory. After all, Glen had saved him from the horde. A total stranger.
And how did he repay him? By getting him killed!
Tears started to drop from his eyes.
"Don't cry, Mr Glen saved us all. I think he would be happy that his sacrifice let all of us survive" said Ms Wright.
"Horse shit!" Ezekiel couldn't help but shout towards her.
How could someone be such a hypocrite?
They were the ones who left him to die and now he became a hero who sacrificed himself to save them all!
Ezekiel's heart grew cold at that moment.
Hahahahaha!
He started laughing like a deranged maniac.
What did he expect?
Weren't they the ones who decided to offer him as a sacrifice before?
He shouldn't have expected any kind of humanity from them.
"Wh-what's going on?" Ms Wright said bewildered by the development. She looked like she couldn't believe what she was saying. What did she do wrong? Why did he suddenly look at her with such eyes?
He had hopes.
Hopes that everyone from the town would like him.
Especially towards Ms Wright.
He knew that she didn't want to offer him as a sacrifice but she wouldn't be able to beat the majority. That was why she had kept quiet back then.
At least that was what he had believed.
After all, she was one of the few people who was kind towards him.
Turns out she was just another snake!
"You ungrateful b*stard! Don't you know Ms Wright did this for your own good!?" shouted Arthur.
He started to walk towards Ezekiel who was laughing like a lunatic and rose his hand to sla-
*Bang*
... What?
Arthur looked at his hand that now had a hole in it.
"ARGHHHHHHH!!!!"
Noticing what happened the pain suddenly surged like a wave and Arthur started screaming.
"*Cough* No one... *Cough* touches the kid"
Everyone turned towards the voice in unison.
There stood a man, or at least what remained of him.
Seeing him Ezekiel stopped laughing and started crying bawling his eyes out.
He was happy.
He was happy that Glen had survived but seeing what happened to him, he felt pain in his small heart.
The right side of his body had been burnt beyond recognition. He only had a single arm left. His bright blue right eye had turned white like marble. With every step, he took his wounds bled profusely. Just like his body, his handsome face was also gone right in the middle.
This was all because of him.
Still, Ezekiel ran and hugged Glen.
***
Glen let the ungrateful brat hug him.
At first, he was angry.
Angry at being betrayed again.
So, without caring for the wounds he made his way here.
Each step was agony.
However, his heart hurt way more than his body.
He had to take revenge!
He had to ask Ezekiel, why didn't he come?
Why did he leave him to die?
But when he saw him being about to get slapped he connected the dots.
It was not that Ezekiel betrayed him.
No!
It was the townsfolk.
They must be the ones who stopped Ezekiel from coming to help him.
He knew that he should have been angry at that moment but he wasn't.
He was only feeling relieved.
Relieved that he wasn't betrayed by someone he trusted again.
"Ho-how are you still alive?" Ms Wright asked befuddled by the situation.
How could this unknown man be alive?
She was sure that she didn't know any famous person with the name Glen?
Why was everything going wrong all of a sudden?
*Cough*
Glen coughed up blood. Seemed like his injuries were too heavy. There was a chance that he wouldn't make the night and die.
If he is gonna die then so be it!
However, what should he do with this bunch of backstabbers?
He wanted to kill them, but if he did, Ezekiel would be left alone.
Could he survive all by himself?
When he was just that young?
No, he could not.
"No thanks... to you" Glen said through his teeth. His words emitted killing intent giving them goose bumps.
Right now, he was not Glen the looter.
He was the Survivor of Rionel's Keep.
Scourge of the Red Plains.
The Night Rider.
Most importantly, he was the boss of the legendary Red Viper's Gang.
Ugh, no good.
The world was going black. He needed to take Ezekiel and leave now, back to the safety of the town.
He had gotten rid of all the zombies.
As long as they shut down the gates they would be safe.
"Why are you talking with him, shoot no-"
Arthur started screaming towards Glen as he was drawing his revolver.
*Bang*
He was shot right through his left eye. The women and children all started screaming and the remaining men drew their guns at him.
Tch!
His aim was off.
He was right-handed so he wasn't used to shooting with his left.
Oh! His right eye was also gone, maybe that played a part in it too?
Glen was ready to shoot his way out.
It should be okay to kill all the men right? The town was safe and maybe the women could look after Ezekiel.
In a couple of years, he should have grown strong enough to not be oppressed by them. Even if there was any problem.
*Clop* *Clop* *Clop* *Clop* *Clop*
That was when Glen heard the sound of horses running towards them.
"Finally! We are saved!" shouted Ms Wright but the scene she expected didn't happen.
"What in god's name, are all of you doing drawing your weapon against an injured man and a child!" shouted the rider at the helm as he drew his weapon against them.
The five riders who came didn't side with them. Instead, they were protecting Glen and Ezekiel.
That was good.
He didn't know who they were but considering they decided to protect Glen and Ezekiel against the townsfolk they shouldn't be bad people.
It should be okay to leave Ezekiel to them.
As he thought so Glen's eyes slowly went dark. His left arm holding his navy towards the townsfolk fell down, but he didn't let go of his gun.
Even if he was passed out he was still standing straight, almost like a ferocious beast that was ready to bite anyone who so much as got close to him.
