Sai turned around to see a white wall— no, it was a Frost Lawachurl— behaving like a gorilla and emanating cold air. It was so close that Sai wondered how he didn't hear it coming.
The huge monster slammed the ground with an impressive show of strength, sending rocks in Sai's direction.
The hilichurl boss beside him also shrunk from the large area attack.
Sai didn't even have time to gulp as he dashed as far away as he could. Contrary to the game, he had no way of knowing the real area of effect the attack had. And so he ran.
But alas, it wasn't enough. Sai felt spikes spring through the ground and onto his feet, sending him flying away from the impact.
Additionally, he felt Sheer Cold take its place once again, sending waves after waves of pain through his body.
'It's over now… I'm dead.'
When he looked up from the ground, he saw the frost bull walking towards him. He was about to rest his eyes for a few more seconds when he realized the Mitachurl was gone!
"Wait! Don't tell me—"
Sai looked at the sky and saw a black figure falling towards him.
'Oh shit! I really jinxed it this time…'
Sai closed his eyes and prepared for his death while thinking that he might be able to revive just like other characters, when suddenly:
"I must leave no stone unturned!"
A girl with silver hair and maid outfit formed a translucent shield around her and stopped the Mitachurl's attack with it.
She proceeded to hack at it with a newly materialised greatsword, while fire sprung out of the ground all around them. Sai remembered about it on time and got away from the area of attack.
"Oh shit! It's Noelle! I'm saved!"
Once Sai finished that sentence, Noelle turned to look at him and flashed a shy smile, before continuing the fight.
'Ohhh! I love Noelle mains!'
"Sai actually didn't leave the field! Is he going to be there permanently? This is such a stolen character! Why is my Sai not like that?"
"Whatever, isn't my Noelle great?" Sai could swear the owner of the voice was drooling.
Apparently, Noelle didn't have much more energy, as she didn't use her elemental burst. She just kept hacking.
Sai saw that both opponents were 'aggroed' by her and decided to step away in order to not die by accident. He made his way slowly to the teleport point and sat there.
He felt some of his injuries slowly healing, thanks to Noelle's shield ability.
"Interesting, it seems that I am affected by the rest of the party… I wonder who else is in it." He said as he watched the battle. "Thankfully this player is good enough to kill them both. I need to make sense of this situation before anything…"
Unfortunately for him, Noelle was caught in a chance combo of the two enemies, and ended up dead on the ground. Sai was in utter shock.
"But they… still... need me…"
Despite Sai's broken heart, Noelle was quickly replaced by Amber, who activated her skill and burst in sequence.
The Mitachurl finally died, but the big guy wasn't even close.
Amber fought hard, but soon followed Noelle to the grave.
"You, got me… uhh…"
Who replaced her was surprisingly Kaeya, who didn't last more than ten seconds against another ice elemental user.
"Arghh! Death… was…. unexpected…"
At this point, Sai was starting to panic. 'They all died! What am I going to do??'
When he was struggling to get up, Lisa appeared in the field.
"Huh? Am I seeing things? Were there not only 4 characters per party? How is Lisa on the field?"
Regardless, she quickly dashed to safety and attacked the Lawachurl.
"Man, just get out of there, you're still too weak to kill that guy." A player said.
"Noo… No!" He was hesitant at first but then got angry. "I will never shy away from an enemy!"
"Are you prepared to see your goddess die, though?"
"…"
"Woosh!" Aether and Lisa disappeared.
"…This guy…"
Not long later, Sai was teleported to a Statue of The Seven in the middle of a lake.
