Once Oberon arrived in the village many people glanced and whispered around him. He looked around at the buildings and signs hanging off the buildings.
"It seems I will have to look around for some directions, this place is a bit larger than I had originally thought." He thought to himself
As he continued slowly wandering through the large village he noticed that some of the people were extremely poor while others were dressed in a sort of protective metallic plating, aka armor.
But the strange thing to him was why are their different armors, some were less dense than others, and why only some of these people wore full suits while others only covered certain parts like shins and forearms.
"Hmm the outfits of these people seem very diverse and some appear to be almost without any outfitting at all, very strange. They must be what are known as beggers, and the ones with strange hard outfits must be what are called "adventurers". I think I will search for what they call their guild."
So Oberon carried on throughout the village for about 20 minutes until he randomly found the guild center, he stood there for abit before deciding to stroll in and take a look around.
As Oberon neared the door to the building it suddenly exploded and a huge blade slammed right in front of him, right into the ground making a gouge 6ft deep in ground. It was a very large blade around 8ft in length and appeared to be made out of an ocean blue metal. The blade was covered in a very complicated(to others except Oberon) set of patterns that translated to many shapes put together in varying orders.
The person wielding the massive ornate blade was a man in what seemed to be his mid 40's and had a large jagged scar running along the side of his head towards his mouth. The man was very muscular and stood at a height of about 2 meters. Oberon noticed others were standing abit away from him.
Oberon had learned all this in less than half a second after seeing the man. As Oberon was about to move forward past the man, the older warrior looked at him for a second before saying
"Scram, You don't belong here newbie even if you are fancy and look mysterious no one can use a scythe, their too large and weird with many problems, only an amateur would pick something ridiculous like that." The older warrior said with obvious disgust towards him
Oberon does not have any throat so he cannot speak in a normal voice, so instead he chose not to speak and to just continue forward, as he proceeds to do so the older warrior turns with him and grabs his shoulder and tries to toss him out, as the older warrior attempts to do so another voice calls out.
"Thats quiet enough now, isn't it Dane?" the voice said in a stern tone.
Dane paused to look at the new person and spoke, "Come on President, look at this shitty newbie, They chose a scythe of all things and they seem like a rich outsider with no experience, people like that don't belong In this guild!" He shouted.
"Dane, I don't think you have forgotten what the policy of guilds are, riiiggghhhttt?" She said menacingly.
Dane grumbled but didn't fuss anymore and stormed out the door.
"Don't worry about him, he's just are local newbie crusher around here. If you need any help just ask our receptionists up front, they will provide you with any information you require. My name is Stephanie and I am the president of this guild. Farewell."
Stephanie turned around and went back up to her office to continue working while Oberon stepped past the others and continued toward the front counter.
"Hi, are you here to register?" the receptionist asked, she was a lovely girl with a fit body, deep green hair, and shining green eyes, she clearly had an affinity with nature.
Oberon didn't know how to respond since he has no vocal cords, then he suddenly remembered the thing known as sign language, so he quickly flipped through the language.
After he finished she looked confused slightly tilting her head to the side and asked, "Are you able to speak?" Oberon of course shook his head as a no.
She suddenly got curious and decided to ask why he could not speak and Oberon signed that it was personal and will not tell unless it was absolutely necessary.
She decided not to pry and quickly apologized for asking, "Sorry I'm not very good with people I just get really curious sometimes and end up offending them, I hope you can forgive my rude attitude."
Oberon signed it was fine and just asked for her to not bring it up again. She quickly agreed and went on to explain the guild jobs.
"So first we actually have different kinds of jobs, most people think its just fighting monsters, but we do a lot more than just that, for example we go and gather food for the city and distribute it, we keep a guard station around for attacks, we explore and map out new areas for the guild and surrounding territories, and much more, so what are you interested in?
Oberon signed that he was interested in it all and was a jack of all trades type of person.
"Hmmm... that could be abit troublesome if you ask me, but if your willing we could sign you up as a position filler member. This would mean that if groups are missing a particular role that the mission requires, that you would be someone they can call on to fill that role.
So you are able to do all roles if you are called on, if no one calls on you, well then your free to do any role you want in your own group. This about sums this up, so what do you think?"
Oberon signed that he was ok with that, then asked how he can sign up. "I wonder how this will work? Do they test me in all these catagories and put a score on me?" He quietly thought to himself.
"Ooh actually that's were I come in, I'm going to hand you some papers to read and sign, so if you could, follow me please!" She said in a chipper tone as she lead him to an adjacent room.
"Oh yeah before I forget, my name is Cecilia and from today on I will be your primary receptionist once you fill this out, and don't worry I'll guide you through this."
