Chapter 8 - Still alive

In the world, numerous stories were recounted by traders of all kinds. Half of them were about Dune Walker and the mystery they brought. One of these tales was less known by the public, Almost lost by the time. Only told by a blind man in a tavern of Rudhetria. It was a short tale of a Dune Walker named "".

The story started before the revival of "" as a Dune Walker…

"Hey, Hey…"

An intense light slowly reached the eyes of the young prince. He stretched his hands in dismay, confused by the harsh awakening, but that didn't stop the joyful young sister.

"I saw you, Salian! You were sleeping right before the party even started!"

She jumped from her bed to grab the neck of her big brother. Salian fell to the ground. Camelia followed with a high kick right to the belly of the prince.

"Triple high kick of Anubis"

"Ok, ok, ok. wait a moment," murmured Salian regaining his balance.

"No pity! Ayaa!" shouted Camelia tempting another attack. Salian quickly grabbed the girl's leg and deviated it directly to the bed.

"You ask for it… I don't have any choice."

"Don't you dare…"

"Ultimate attack of dark ankh! Dandelion Rise!" He then jumped on the bed with her and tickled her continually. Only her laugh could be heard throughout the whole sleeping quarters of the palace.

"Not fair, we had said no tickles!" answered Camelia trying not to laugh.

"Hahaha, I guess your brother loves to show off to his frail sister," added the sultan entering the room.

"" was a strong warrior for an unknown kingdom. And more than being the strongest warrior, he was the prince and sole contender for the throne. And those simple facts made him love his family more than ever. Happy that his father made him come into life in such an advantageous position. For "" his father was his whole life.

"I'm so excited! It will be the first time you introduce me to everyone!" Shouted Salian, walking happily in the corridor. He grabbed the hands of Camelia and turned around her, dancing frenetically. She laughed and joined him in his dance.

"Hahaha, big brother will become a man, A man!"

"Yes, Camelia, a man you will see by yourself!" exclaimed Salian.

The sultan liked the sight of his two kids but preferred to be more down-to-earth. He grumbled for a moment and stopped his walk.

"Yes, that's good news indeed. Your wedding with this girl will be a strong alliance between our city and the nomad. With the resources that they will bring us, we will finally reopen the great library that was closed so long ago."

"Dad, rejoice! Your dream to bring a free education system to the city will be attained. Nobody truly understands why you closed the library and expelled the sage. These cult bastards drowned our wealth and imposed a hierarchy unequal to all citizens. Your dream of a fair city will be reached, father… Look around. Everyone already eats at their will. and I know this relation is the key for a future…."

"Don't do too much, son… You are already my future, Only you two count for me…."

So when they have been betrayed by members of their own kingdom. "" grabbed his sword and prepared himself for battle. He didn't care who was his enemy but couldn't accept any harm being done to his family. That night "" killed every single one of his enemies. Not able to stop himself, he even killed the family of this already dead traitor. It was an act solely to impress his father… But the king didn't see things in the same way…

"Sultan, the nomads are asking why some kids of their band disappeared. And not only the kids, women and old people of the group set in Rudhetria disappeared a few days ago."

The counselor already knew well what was the cause of this. To be precise, everyone already knew what had happened. Even the nomad, well aware that their assassins were killed by the prince himself. At this point, a choice should be made, and the priest's entry didn't help.

"Future father-in-law Bilal, I was praying for my union when I heard the news. I don't think I have to explain myself."

"Priest Althea, I'm sorry for this. I'm sure an official apology with compensation can handle this…."

The girl ran to the table in the middle of the meeting room and turned it upside down. She passed from white to red and unleashed a hysteria crisis to the whole court.

"The alliance is broken, majesty, and I will give you a single piece of advice…."

"Priest, can you reconsider that…"

"Only blood can purge blood," cut the girl. "You chose between a single sacrifice or a war."

She spat to the ground and left the room. Letting the poor sultan collapse in his chair

"Salian or Rudhetria…"

The choice was hard for the sultan, but the tumultuous gossip of his counselor got the better of him. The decision was hard to take, but it was the only way to not trigger a war on the defenseless city of Rudhetria. This in mind "" didn't have any choice but to backslide. The proud warrior of Rudhetria had to disappear. It was the only choice he had to keep his father's pride. And the most challenging thing was to explain this to his little sister.

"No, nooo. I don't want you to go. Please stay!" shouted in tears the poor princess. Pushing aside the maid. She ran and grabbed her brother's chest. Squeezing him with all her strength. Salian was sad, but he knew that he had to go. No matter how hard it was.

"It's okay, Camelia, everything will be okay…."

"Salian, if you go, I will be alone, as always. Please, I don't want it!"

"Camelia, Do you know why our deceived mother named you like that?"

"Stop it…"

Salian put her on the ground and grabbed his backpack, searching for something.

"The Camellia Blossom is a flower without fragrance. It proclaims nothing, blooming in silence. But that makes you unique. We need a calm watcher for our father and this country. Having no fragrance doesn't erase your beauty but gives you the ability to infiltrate the heart of each of us, to take any perfume you want. You are free to become who you want, Camelia. And I want you to become like the Camelia crown that our sultan wears…." He turned and put a crown made of purple Camelia on the head of Camelia. "A proud banner of the beauty of Rudhetria"

He then hig her in his arms for a moment and put her down. Not far, his father's eyes were saddened. He knew that the plan was to fake his death for only a year. But he couldn't handle this pressure. Salian was always his lovely child. So when he disappeared on the horizon, the sultan's heart entered in stasis. Camelia waited indefinitely for the return of her brother…

Yet "" never came back, he found his death in the desert by the hand of the same nomad trib. A year passed without his return to the kingdom, and the sultan's heart darkened gradually to a state unrecognizable. Until it reached its point of non-return. The day where a Dune Walker appeared in his city. He dove into insanity, ready to break the taboo. The Dune Walker accepted out of pity, his dead heart unable to confront the sultan. Nobody could know that the man who presented himself at his court was the prince himself…

An old saying says that the dead can't talk… It's true… Dune Walker are cursed by the curse of the Undead. A curse preventing them from being themselves in the eyes of the living. Their names buried forever in the dune of time…

That was the tale of "", cursed to live forever at the side of his most precious parents, forever as an outsider…

The root barrier now in place, the Anubis demon looked at the wall incapacitated. All the citizens outside the Geb delimitation were invisible for the spider who crawled back to the inside of the zone, in search of a life source. To its surprise, a target was already right there, waiting with a silver sword on the right and a gold sword in his left hand. The two weapons were made of metal without wrists. The white hairs of Nasseh were shining, and a smile let his white teeth pierce the horizon proudly.

"It took me some time, but I can take you on alone."

The spider answered with a huge scream and began to run at Nasseh without hesitation, crushing the wreckage all around.

"I don't know how Lia did this, but this wall made me finally understand how you work."

The demon jumped, and… Hit it head directly to a building nearby. It rose up again, searching for Nasseh, who didn't even move.

"I'm here if you search," answered Nasseh, saluting the monster.

The creature moved again and tried to catch Nasseh but again missed its target. The process repeated multiple times until the Demon collapsed on the ground, tired. Nasseh then walked slowly to it.

" You probably ask yourself why you can't touch me." He charged ankh to his gold sword. "Ankh is the life energy of everything, and you see undead lack this. To survive, they absorb it from other living beings. So some of them developed a strange mechanism for hunting…."

The creature rose again and stretched his long leg to Nas, who easily dodged it. The demon tries again, but now Nasseh uses his silver sword to parry the hit. The momentum given by the spider permits him to then jump and cut the whole leg to the surprise of the Undead.

"A silver sword to counter and…."

He ran and cut the other legs in a single movement. Not even bothered by the length of the demon.

"A golden sword infused with high-pressure ankh to cut. These two swords are my lab instruments. Since I can't kill you…."

He then grabbed other flasks of liquid oxygen mixed with oil; from his smock of Thot and put them right on top of the regenerating leg of the monster. When the legs regained their form, the flask stayed stuck inside. Letting an exciting laugh go out of Nasseh. He quickly falls back to observe the show.

"Oh, my sweet new experiment partner. I will dissect you in a thousand new ways!"

When the spider got up, the flasks inside the leg cracked and exploded by pressure. Unfortunately for the scholar, only two of them dealt damage. The spider got up and ran to him, screaming with rage. Nas simply grabbed a notebook and took notes. "Humm, so the damage of the liquid oxygen is inconsistent since no ankh has been inflated in it. Logic since air doesn't contain a sufficient amount of ankh for…."

The demon spider jumped on him, and Nas simply walked at its back without noticing. " So the thing is pretty stupid and don't adapt quickly. hmmm… that things need a name"

The demon turned to Nasseh again and, this time, just looked at him. Nasseh clapped his notebook with animosity.

"Ok, you! What name do you want? Since you are from Anubis, I thought: Anubis spider finger ultimate."

"..."

"No answer, ok, let me think harder !"

The Demon closed its eyes and started its attack on Nasseh again. He stumbled and quickly grabbed his two swords.

"Oh, you finally understand that your eyes are weak against me. So you can evolve. Good, demon from part of Anubis are definitely more intelligent. Ok, your name will be Anuvol ultimate!"

The spider, this time, constantly attacked Nasseh, who quickly became more agile. Cornered by the demon, he recoiled his sword, taking more damage with time. When the silver sword finally broke into two pieces, he dove to the side and began to run inside a nearby house.

"You dislike this name too, okok. It seems you are quite difficult."

He tried again to lower the circulation of ankh in his body, but this time the demon was well aware of his trick and quickly found him. He grabbed his coat and dug in it in research of ingredients.

"Don't worry, big guy, a good scientist always have a plan for any contingency"

He took out residue of solder and nitrate, mixed them in a bag and infused sediment of pure gold in it with a random fuel. When the spider destroyed the house, he passed through a window and slid to the back of the creature. He closed the bag, ignited it and threw it right in front of the eyes of the demon. The bag exploded into a cloud of colorful sparkles, dispersing numerous particles of gold in the air.

"Feu d'artifice; Fireworks produce large quantities of ankh in a small area. Mix it with gold, and you can dazzle undeads and humans. Your body burns by the gold, your eyes are unable to see, and the sound creates confusion."

Nasseh walked to the massive butt of the spider and looked at it. He tapped a moment on it and teased it.

"It seems that you are a Tendre woman. Perhaps Anuvolvette Ultimate is a better name for a mother."

The creature didn't appreciate the contact and spun quickly, even still confused. It turned to Nasseh, who didn't prepare for that and spit a purple web to him from her back. He managed to partially escape, but he quickly realized that the net on him was not regular. The substance began to melt his pants and quickly reached his skin. He pulled a water container from his smock and threw it. The web disappeared in contact with water, but the injury stayed purple. Nasseh was now infected.

"Ok, you have more in you than I could imagine, Purple Anuvolvette Ultimate."

He quickly cut the blood circulation from his leg and Infused himself with a serum painkiller. He didn't even have the time to rest when the Demon regained his senses, now even angrier. It began to spit webs all around him furiously. Nasseh, still in the reach zone, ran for his life, but the infected leg didn't respond correctly to his action. When he fell on the ground seeing the web coming at him, He quickly grabbed his coat and opened the inside on the web.

The web passed through the dark interior of the cloth and entered the coat before coming out of it with the same strength. Right back to the spider. The emblematic white dress of Nasseh was a Demon too. A demon of Thot called Gobe. Unable to answer, the back simply put out the dangerous substance his master put in him.

"Désolé Gobe, I didn't really have a choice. Last time, promise."

Nasseh crawled to a nearby building and hid. His respiration was more and more heavy. His body was in pain because of the infection spreading throughout his skin. He knew that he had to find a cure, and for that, he had to be sure Anuvolvette wouldn't find him. The mysterious roots barrier was now a trap for him and the spider. He then proceeded to bring out multiple elements. He made up multiple replicas of his precedent fireworks and created a new unique bomb to conclude. A bomb infused with large amount of gunpowder. When he was ready, he bandaged his leg and stood up even with the pain. And walked to the spider without hesitation.

The zone around Anuvolvette was recovered of a vast filament of the web, creating a deadly trap for any normal creature. Seeing that, Nas put his bombs on him and freed his hands for his golden sword. He then screamed with a smile and cut all the web on his way. It was not enough for him to not be touched, but he continued, ignoring the suffering. When he finally reached the creature, he was covered in the strange purple web. His white eyes were reddened by the pain, and his hair was mingled.

The spider didn't wait and simply pushed him to a building nearby without hesitation. Nas smashed his body on the wall breaking a few bones in the process, and smiled.

"Do you remember the little surprise I put in your 4 other legs Anuvolvette, what do you think will happen if a fire ignites right now?"

Unaware of what he said, the spider simply shouted and ran to the man. He tried to reduce his ankh circulation, and the demon answered, seemingly telling him how it was futile. She closed her eyes to concentrate on Nasseh, but all was foreseen by the scientist. A few meters before the attack, Nas threw all his bombs at the spider, creating multiple fireworks confusing the beast. The explosions were non-stop because of the variety of fuel that Nas put in each of them. He pushed his body forward even with his wound and threw his new bomb to the web all around the beast. He tried to go out of range of the web, but even blind and in pain, Anuvolvette successfully grabbed the left arm of Nas. The scientist, without hesitation, spat at the creature and charged his free hand in Ankh and broke the demon's teeth before running away with his last force.

" Au Revoir, Anuvolvette!" screamed Nas setting fire to the web. The fire quickly spread, and four of the spider's legs exploded. The fire attained the last bomb that ignited the web and surrounding area. Reaching even the border of the zone delimited by the roots of Geb. Anuvolvette repeatedly tried to regenerate, but the constant fire burned her legs faster than she could reform it. The zone was now recovered from fire and particles of gold. The scientist knew it was not enough to kill it but hoped for it to be able to stop the demon for the next ten minutes. Before the time limit promised by Khal reached an end.

He sat in the middle of the blazing city and looked at his body, entirely infected by the poison. With his last force, he collected his own blood and began to experiment in silence. Retiring from his coat numerous lab instruments for his test. The pain was unsustainable, but he was a scientist, a man of awareness. His ego was so big that even Gods couldn't stop him from experimenting. Even on himself, till the end…

"Hahahahaah, you see this you fucking Gods. Even your puppy can't kill me. Look at me, immortal beings, I'm alive…."
