Chereads / DUAL ABILITY: I'm the OP God Doctor / Chapter 3 - The plan almost fails

Chapter 3 - The plan almost fails

Of all the things to die from, a female ogre's was not something Michael anticipated as his death cause.

The female looked even more enraged at his silence. It looked as of she was not used to someone not answering her questions when she asked and it showed in her body language.

Michael had seen enough aggressive people in his medical career to know where this was heading.

The other was about to throw a punch at any given second and Michael's face would be the collateral damage.

If he somehow got out of this alive then he will try his best to think of himself as female. He would, if only to never end up in this situation again.

"Is everything alright here? I sense some tension" that calm and familiar voice as the savior and also likely the doom of Michael's existence and his identity.

"N-No. Nothing is wrong Grand Officer Rachael. There was just a misunderstanding here" clearly, the ogre also had no plans to involve any authority in this.

After all, someone ignoring you was not a legal ground to participate in a brawl.

"Is that so? Then I hope this peace continues. I would hate to arrest you on false charges Miss" the ogre looked as if she had swallowed a sour lemon.

But no one wanted to oppose the Knight of Victory as well.

She was the closest aid to the princess who had yet to come of age and rumors had it that she had the aging queen's ear as well.

Michael took this time to escape the situation but he did not miss the look Rachael passed him as well.

It was not good to catch the eye of such an important figure this early but it could not be helped. The only thing he could do from Michael's end was to make his presence as small as possible.

Thankfully, the appearance of 'The Grand Officer Rachael' had distracted enough people and it allowed Michael to escape quickly.

But it also made him realize how bad the situation had been.

But somehow he arrived at the inn without any disturbances and right before the true darkness descended on the town.

"Looking for a room for tonight? You alone? It's one gold for one night" Michael paused at that.

'System, I have no money? What should we do now?' the excitement of earlier had truly made Michael forget many important facts.

One of which was that he had no money on him currently.

'The system would like to inform the user that they have a fund bank.

Kindly maneuver your finger above the bank and press to check funds'

Michael followed the instructions, praying all the while for good luck. One gold was a lot of money after all.

But as soon as the bank page opened, it was evident that he did not need to fear that much. Iris had a sizable amount of wealth in her name and the system had taken to transfer it all to him for now.

The huge sun of 100k gold was his now.

It was the first stroke of good luck he had encountered during the whole time.

"I will book your best room for a week. I have business here so please do not disturb me unless it's an emergency" the business Michael had was urgent.

As Iris, there were things expected of him and the first one was to be profound in medicine.

Michael was just a final-year medical student. You could not expect him to be any good at medicine, not to mention treat people. He was not equipped for it yet.

Even the best doctors only gained experience after enough years in the profession.

So Michael had to improvise and study all he could before anything was expected of him.

"Sure. I would like your name and occupation to get you settled in. Business policy" Michale paused.

He debated on which name to give the other, his real one or the body's real one? But he decided on the body.

In the end, Iris was supposed to be here, not Michael and he did not dare risk changing the events of this place.

Besides, the earlier he started thinking of himself as Iris, the easier it would be for him in the longer run.

What he did not want was for someone to recognize Iris and for Michael to not be able to react to it. That would be the worst.

So keeping that in mind, he quickly wrote his name and his occupation as a healer which caused the owner to raise his head in question.

"You are a healer and you did not go to the commission to apply for residential stay? You must be a damned good healer and earn a lot. Not too many of those left in the world after all" of course not.

The world of Rivendell essentially had no healers. There was only a handful of them, all super high on the hierarchy so were almost never seen. That was why the male character was able to build a harem - he was a healer as well.

And since it was difficult to see them, many people tried to fool others by pretending to be one and scam people.

The owner likely thought of Michael as one of those scams as well and the gentle expression hardened into an annoyed one.

But still, since Michael was paying the required sum (maybe even bribe the owner to be civil by overpaying) the owner did not run him out.

Anyway, Iris was a household name but no one knew how she actually looked. This was the only advantage Michael had and he was going to take full advantage of it.

"Food is served at 09:00 am, 01:00 pm and 07:00 pm respectively. You miss it, it's your loss" the owner warned but Michael did not have a problem.

He had several.

"Would it be possible for you to be able to have it delivered outside my door or the plated to be picked up? I'll pay extra. Just, do not open my door at any cost and knock if you need me"

The look he got for his request was scalding but the owner agreed when Michael agreed to pay double the rent.

It was a win-win for everyone and he had money to spare anyway.

The room he was led to was pretty luxurious and had a good outside view from the window. It was located at the topmost floor and was isolated enough that no other building faced it at any given time.

It was perfect for Michael who was going to learn magic in the following week and might not know when he would have time to eat or sleep.

He needed all the privacy he could get.

"I will inform you of your meals. You want dinner?" Michael wanted to say no but his stomach disagreed.

In the end, all he could do was give a dignified nod to maintain his calm expression while freaking out inside as the owner left to fetch him some food.

It would be the start of something new in his life. There was much to be done after all and not enough time to do it.

The answers to all his questions would be something he would have to look for in the future. For now, he needed to concentrate and make Iris's identity his own.
