Chapter 13 - Chapter 12 (+18)

Jak stared at nothing in particular. His mind was spinning with several thoughts about everything so far.

Reaux had struck him. He still couldn't believe it. Yes, he'd been a brat and his jealousy had gotten the better of him, but he hadn't done anything out of the ordinary.

He'd spent the night with Tay and Damian. He hadn't had anywhere else to go. He hadn't wanted to go to his parent's house since they were gone, and he didn't really have any friends. Not since moving in with Reaux anyway. So the only place to go had been their house.

He smelled more like Damian than he did Tay, not that it was comforting. Last he remembered was falling asleep in their bed as the Omea had comforted him. He was surprised he hadn't hurt him when he'd fallen through their front door. Damian was surprisingly strong for an Omega, but males tended to be bigger than their female counterparts.

When he'd woken up, he'd been in the guest room. Tay's jealousy was worse than his so he wasn't surprised even though he wasn't interested in Damian. They were old friends. Even if he didn't remember infancy to age two, the last twelve years were what mattered. He would never step on his friend's toes.

An unknown number had called him seven times and he'd ignored it that many times. When a voicemail popped up, he'd listened to it. Dante had somehow gotten his number and had left the message when he couldn't get him to answer. He didn't want to talk to him. He was the reason most of this had happened.

Reaux hadn't called or texted him. Jak guessed he was giving him some space to work things out for himself. He was grateful for it, but a part of him wanted him to reach out. There were countless times where he'd picked up the phone to call since he'd been awake, but he couldn't find the words to say. It frustrated him to no end, but mostly it made his heart hurt. If this was what heartache felt like, he didn't want it.

He sighed and stared at the project he'd spent the whole semester sculpting and perfecting. None of it meant anything without the damned detective. He'd been the one who'd pushed him to do something he knew he could sell with a passion. If Reaux wasn't with him, he didn't want it.

His fingers stopped as he realized what he'd just said to himself. Reaux was all he thought about, He had this big ass project due in a week and he was more worried about the fucking detective. Just like he'd said people the other say to Tay, now he was realizing who was more important to him. It may be way too late now, but he realized he was stupid and immature.

Jak stared out the window for a long time. He lost track of their time as he watched people walk across campus happily. He was happy for them even though his glass bubble was fracturing.

He was so engulfed in his own turmoil he didn't see the person sit across from him. He jerked when a large hand covered his and jerked it away. His mouth ran dry when he saw Reaux pulling his hand back. He fought the urge to reach across the table and knock his coffee over. It took a minute to realize he hadn't bought coffee.

His hand wrapped around it lovingly as tears threatened to roll down his already puffy cheeks. He already knew who to thank for this. It was probably the reason he'd woken up in the guest room.

"Hey," he whispered. He barely got it out through the emotions that thickened his throat.

"Hey, baby," Reaux replied. His smile mirrored the one that spread across Jak's. His voice was soft as he called the young man by his favorite name. "What are you doing?"

"I was working on my paper. Well, I tried but a certain someone won't let me be."

The detective nodded. "Can that certain someone apologize for being an asshole?" Jak nodded. "I lost myself, Jak. I'm sorry."

"We're both at fault. I shouldn't have used your past against you. It wasn't fair. You didn't tell me for a reason."

"I wasn't trying to hide it. I just didn't think it was that important. I haven't joined them in nearly five years."

"What about Andrew?"

Reaux scoffed, his face taking on a mixture of disdain and annoyance. "He has a tendency to embellish everything. We've known each other since we were ten, and he's a defense attorney with a penchant for submission. The way he talks makes it sound like he's super dominant, but he's not. He's a submissive Alpha is what he is."

"And the difference?"

"Between the two of you?" Jak nodded. Reaux's annoyance shifted to amusement at the other man's curiosity. "Andrew wants to be punished. He's a weirdo. You don't play to be punished. You play because you know I'll take care of you."

Jak lifted his head at the last sentence. "Will you?"

Reaux frowned. "Will I what?"

"Take care of me?"

A slow smile spread across the Alpha's face. He leaned forward and his hand came up to rest on Jak's cheek. "I always have."

The young Alpha leaned into the warmth. Reaux's hands were big but comforting. His thumb caressed the tender skin under his eye as he stared at him lovingly. This was all Jak had wanted in the last forty-eight hours. He just wanted Reaux to show him that everything will be alright, that what had happened was an accident.

Jak packed his bag rather roughly. Reaux watched all of his supplies disappear into the black canvas. He drained his now cooled drink and stood. After tossing his cup, he grabbed Reaux by the hand and hauled him towards the back of the library. Reaux could have easily stopped him, but Jak's ears were bright red. He wasn't going to dare stop him.

They came to a dark corner, and Jak dropped his bag. He stared at Reaux for a long, long time before he grabbed the back of the detective's neck and hauled him in. Sparks flew as their mouths collided. It had been too long for this. Up until this point, they hadn't gone a day without kissing each other. It was hard to fathom for Jak, but when Reaux's tongue swept inside his mouth, Jak whimpered. The older man pulled him close and swallowed every noise he made.

Jak usually let Reaux do what he wanted, and that usually meant dominating the bedroom. But the younger Alpha was desperate for him. He loosed the tie so he could get to the top two buttons underneath. As he started exposing skin, his mouth followed his hands. Every inch of skin was coerced and traced.

Reaux's hand cradled his head, fingers tangled in his hair as he followed his movements. Jak's tongue was teasing, swirling around his skin seductively. His mouth that usually spouted nonsense and angry slurs was busy making his lover feel good when he'd been feeling alone. He put Reaux's feelings first despite feeling worse about himself because of the older Alpha's mismanagement.

Reaux's breath was harsh as he watched Jak sink lower and lower, following his hand as it opened his shirt fully. He had never done this before. He'd pleasured Reaux, but not like this. He had never gotten down on his knees before. He wanted to wrench him up by his shoulders, but he didn't want to freak him out after just making up. It would send him back several steps, and he wasn't sure they'd come back from it.

The sound of his zipper descending made him look up quickly. A fevered hand on his slowly rising member made his hips buck. Jak didn't have to pull his jeans off to get access to him. He pulled out his suddenly fully engorged cock with ease, rubbing it was his palm lovingly.

"Jak…" His breath exploded from his lungs.

Jak tentatively lapped at the tip, eyes over with a mixture of emotions that Reaux couldn't read. His cheeks and ears were pink, and his body quivered as he tried to contain his pheromones. He knew if he let loose everyone would know where they were and what they were doing.

Reaux knew he was desperate, but he didn't know how to make it easier on him. He wasn't necessarily sure if he was in rut, and Reaux's urge to sequester him away wasn't on full alert. Jak was trying to prove himself, but Reaux didn't know why or what for.

He took Jak's face in his hands and rubbed his thumbs over his cheeks. Jak took the tip in his mouth and sucked gently on it. Reaux grimaced in pleasure as the look in Jak's eyes turned molten. Fire raced through his blood and set his dominant side alight. The more Jak's mouth moved, the higher the flame grew.

"Jak?" It took a lot of strength to pry his face away from his groin. The young man pouted as he held on to his thighs. He kissed the inside of his hip, nose brushing against the base of the shaft. Reaux jumped with each pass. "If you're going to do this, please let's go home. I'm barely holding it in, and I don't want to embarrass you."

His body quivered as Jak stood. His mouth trailed up Reaux's front. He stared at him as he gently put him back in his pants and zipped it up. He slowly, painstakingly buttoned every button and tightened his tie. His eyes flicked between Reaux's amber ones and his lips.

He latched on again, drawing the older Alpha into a passionate moment. Reaux's hands spanned the back of his head and his lower back. He pulled him flush against him and kissed him with so much fervor he felt he could die happily.

Reaux 's heart thundered in his chest. It matched the tempo of Jak's, but it was the younger man's mouth that sent shockwaves through him. His body had never quivered with this much anticipation before. Not even when he'd first stepped foot inside a playroom for his first encounter with Andrew. Nothing compared to what he was feeling right now with Jak.

"Baby, we really have to go home, or I'm going to take you right here." His voice was a coarse growl. He watched goosebumps prickle across Jak's skin.

Jak nibbled on his chin. "Okay."

Reaux bent down and snatched Jak's bag. He slung it over his shoulder and grabbed Jak's hand. Their eyes met again, and every emotion burned into his eyes. He pulled Jak back in, passing his lips gently over the other man's twice before pulling him towards the door.

Whoever saw them walking could see and smell the tension. Reaux's stone features and Jak's flushed face were a dead giveaway. But no one knew the whole story. No one knew the pain they'd gone through the last few days. No one knew the heartache both had experienced because of a lapse in judgement.

By the library, Dante sat at a table and watched Reaux help Jak into the car. He saw all the emotions on both their faces and knew what was about to happen. He made an annoyed sound and clicked his teeth.

"Isn't that your guy?" his friend asked. He sat at their table with his paper and pen before him. "What's he doing with that guy?"

"Don't worry about it. I'll figure it out. Let's go find Gavin. He said he had a job for us."

Dante watched the SUV pull away from the curb, anger coursing through his veins. Why couldn't Reaux just disappear? All that work and he was still around. What was he going to have to do to separate them? He'd spent the last two years trying to get Jak's attention only for this to happen.

His friend called him. They gathered their stuff and headed to find their friend. Dante would figure out as he did his job. Jak had to see that Reaux wasn't as good as he was. He'd have to do something to make sure he saw that.
