Fenyang's Pov
"Calm down Zaffera. Stop pacing and lets talk this out instead." I try my best to invite her with a single hand gestire and a calm voice.
"I don't want to talk." she complains, heaving a heavy sigh instead with a low tone still pacing back and forth in her room, for a change. After the heated exchange tool place Zaffera ran off impulsively and locked herself in here. I stood out knocking trying to convince her to let me in and eventually she did. To my surprise I saw no tears just a surge of anger comong out of her and perhaps disappointment. I know Zaffera to have quite strong coat but lately she has had to deal with so much at once kt must have made her even tougher.
"Don't make me regret letting you in." I raise my hands in defeat holding a chuckle. Even is this situation I can't help but admire her beauty, her darkskin seemingly even more rich than the last time I've seen her a while back.
"Why did it need to happen now, I mean we were getting along so we well and..." I'm snapped back into reality and in a swift motion I take a stand in her way and force her to halt. She looks up at me with tear stained eyes to my surprise. Her voice didn't let out any of the hurt she has truly been feeling.
"I'm sorry we used your Father, we..we did this to get you back."
"We?" she frowns.
I nod, "I helped her. But I had no means communication to be able to talk to you and-"
"Hmh okay. I'm not mad at that anyways. I'm glad to be back and I probably wouldn't be if it wasn't for Father. But I cannot ignore the fact that she hid so much from me that's what hurts."
"You need a distraction." I raise my gaze to thr clock on the wall above the door frame. It's almost lunch time. "You get changed, we'll get food along the way." she agrees confused.
I have an idea that will allow her to get the distraction she needs.
Once ready she knocks at my door wearing her usual knee length boots.
"You may want to change those." I joke pointing at her boots.
She folds her arms. "They are my ride or die, whatever you have planned these wil do."
I don't fight it any further and hint her to go as I grab my backpack.
"This is a map outlining the outskirts of Arrow and one day found this former Castle. It used to belong to the former Royals of the times when Zyron and Arrow were one according to my reaserch...and knowing how much you like a good adventure I think we should check it out.Besides it's a great way to distract you."I say soon after regretting the last sentence but then I see a sparkle in her eyes like when we were searching for the door and a feel a warm sensation about my cheeks as she nods in a beam.
"So where are we headed for our adventure quest? ",she holds her fits to her hips.
"Right this way Zaffera."
After about an hour of walking we camp for a break.
"I must have greatly underestimated how large Arrow is, we still have quite an amount to go."
"I don't mind that, I'm also getting a personal tour of Arrow from the King himself in the meantime too. I should be honoured." she giggles. I can tell she is finally truly getting out of her head.
"Well it's a first for me too ashamedly. I wasn't allowed out much because I had so mamy duties that they ate up all my time even with my avoidance of them. At times I really wish I had a normal childhood like everyone else but I know I should be grateful for how lucky I am."
"Don't say that" she pushes her lip downwards forcing a frown, "You can be greateful yet objective of your missed opportunities, besides see this as an opportunity to catch up."
"The brightside I guess, okay... Now that we have had a short break would you like to continue? Looking at the map we are only half way." She nods stretching her neck and following my lead.
About an hour later of walking we arrive destination.
"Well...we are here!" I exclaim looking up from the map and laying my eyes on the remarkable building towering over us. Unlike moder Palaces it is a fairly uniform shade of navy blue with musk and spiderwebs decorating it due to the long time of neglect. When we push the entrance door open a loud thud echoes within the walls and as we walk up the stairs the occasional creaks make us question the stability of the Castle.
"So are we just going to have a loot around here?" asks Zaffera.
"Not quite, the two most important places of a Kingdom are the Meetings room and Main Library. I supposed we could consider the dungeons too given our history." She nods.
Thanks to the still fairly high sun and the massive windows the Castle is overall well lit and we are able to orientate pretty well.
"Here's the Library." I point to catch Zaffera's attention who was wandering the opposite way to cover more ground at once. She quickly catches up to me and we take a lool inside.
"My inner bookwarm is so happy at the moment...even as a Kid I have always loved reading and I truly think the smell of books is one of my favourite." She voices in a child like tone as though her younger self is showing up.
"That makes one of us. I've only now enjoyed reading with it was researching something I'm interested in. When I was younger books and studying weren't my thing, almost found them pointless. It's quite intresting how much I've change from my old self." As I speak I reflect om just how much of those changes were due to Zaffera's appearance. " You sort of rubbed off on me."
"Yeah... Hey look ay this."
"Scrolls, we could trace back their history this way and figure out what exactly caused them to devide." As I speak I notice her palm slowly creep up.
"We make a good duo." she says and I hit my palm against hers.
"We do. Seems we will have to call it a day though and perhaps come back another time because the sun is beginning to set we need to get back."
"We should get some food on the way too."
I nod in response.
The loud thud of the door close our time in the Catsle and as we walk back I hear a stomach growls.
"You're hungry too." She jokes with a grin.
"We didn't bring enough food with us, I only grabbed the first things I could see that were easy to carry along."
"I would have contributed if only I had known where we were headed."
"True, but at least I didn't lure you to an address with no context and had to nervously wait for your arrive." I joke, mischievously hinting the time we went to the Inn to speak to the author of the door.
She rolls her eyes. Just ahead of us there's a little food stand and we order in. She gets a warm bowl of seasonal favourites and I go more traditional with a potato and vegetables blend, both Arrow's popular dishes.
"Oh hot!" Zaffera impetiously brings a spoonful of the steamu soup to her lips just to then groan in pain which causes me to laugh. "Don't poke fun at my hurting."
"I won't."
Today truly took me back to the beginning when there was no Ginn or guardian feuds to deal with, but just an opportunity to savour moments of joy to distract from my otherwise melancholy state and the thought of returning to unfinished business makes me look forward in a bittersweet motion.
"Let's go."
