"Ms. Wilcox, I was wrong!" Hearing 'someone weighing the consequences', Yusuf Zuck immediately let go, knowing he couldn't push his luck too far or overplay his hand, for if he touched her any longer, a month's salary would really be gone.

"Hmph, hmph." Hearing Yusuf's admission of fault, Ruth Wilcox hummed twice and said, "A month's salary is gone for sure, definitely not issuing it, love it or leave it!"
"Don't, Ms. Wilcox, I really was wrong. How about we dock a day's pay, not a month's, is that okay?" Yusuf knew Ruth was teasing him, so he just bantered with her.
