Eviery stared at them and waited for an answer and She noticed that all of them are staring at each other intensely as if they are communicating over their head.
According to what she have heard, across town, Vampires are able to communicate through their eyes. When a realization hit her, she panic and stepped back and looked fixedly at the three of them and examine each. 'They do not look like a vampire at all, their eyes.. aren't red.. and their skin isn't that pale at all.' her thoughts were all over her head while glancing to each features. She made herself believe that this is just some sort of coincidence and they're just simply staring at each other and that's all.
"Can we stay at your house until our mission here is over?" Being the girl in group Nathalie asked Eviery as told by Peter. Eviery was startled by a sudden question snapping out of her own thoughts.
"What mission?" She asked. She saw Peter's expression, full of hesitation.
"Our apology, but we can not disclose it for now as we are not certain just yet." Peter replied as he scratched the back of his head.
She didn't know why but she felt light-hearted towards the three of them, she couldn't sense any danger from them and trusted them fully without hesitation.
"Alright. Alright. But I need to introduce you to my mom as my friends from school, maybe?" She nodded at her own question 'my mom would definitely kill me once she found out!' she thought. The three just nodded all together as an agreement.
Since it's already dark, Eviery decided to take them inside their old fashioned house. Peter glance at Nathalie's face, he could guess she's already exhausted from walking all day looking for Eviery. Seeing her gloomy eyes that she keeps on blinking it, to not look tired, she quickly changed her expression and act excited upon entering the house. Eviery told them to sit on the couch and wait for her for a few minutes as she called her mom and went upstairs.
"Mom! Mom! I'm home." She shouted to the room.
"Congratulations baby." A woman appeared from the door and flushed a big smile behind the worried face. She did not noticed the three sitting on the couch yet, who are just glancing over their sweet behavior.
"You also followed Simon on social media?" She asked and frown.
"Haha yes! He only have a hundred of followers and he needs more." Her mother replied as she narrowed her eyes to their direction, confused look ran all over her face. "And who is these beautiful looking lady and gentlemen?" She paid a sweet smile towards them and return her gaze to Eviery.
"They are my friends, mom. That's Nathalie, Peter and Jacob over there. They're here to celebrate my birthday with me tonight." She replied excitedly and her eyes twinkled in excitement.
"Hello guys! I'm Evielyn. Please, take care of my baby." Her mom said politely and waved at them. Their named sounded just the same.
"Of course, Ma'am. You can count on us!" Jacob responded with a winked.
"Great! Happy 18th birthday darling." She faced Eviery again and handed the box to Eviery. As she opened the box excitedly, thinking that this must be a good gift since it came from her mom but her face turned unhappy upon seeing a silvery stick with a white more like a glass tip.
"What is this mom ?" She asked her mom while examining the stick looking at it very intently and frowned.
"It is called a stele. Ahmm.. i-it's a family heirloom." Her mom told her with a serious voice. "Now that you're eighteen, it's time for you to know about something." Eviery just look at her mom with a question in her eyes.
Just when Evielyn is about to utter another word again, suddenly, the guy named Simon appeared calling Eviery still having his wide smile. Everyone could tell that he is in love with Eviery, except her.
''Hmmm… I can sense a one sided love over their best friend...'' Peter mocked and chuckled softly. Nathalie elbowed him and eyed him to silence but he chuckled again and this time it's louder. He wrapped his hands around her waist causing her to startle and sit-up straight and blushed. He kind of loved seeing her reaction and being in his playful self, instead of just placing his hands on her waist, he pulled her even closer towards him and pinched her waist lightly.
"Ehemm...Ehemm!" Jacob suddenly coughed towards their actions. He was also sitting beside Nathalie so he could feel her slight movements. "Master! *Sigh* Please respect me! Even just this matter!" He uttered and an unpleasant look was drawn in his face. Just when his about to rant again, Eviery appeared with wrinkled forehead looking at everyone.
"What is going on here?" She asked looking at Jacob and Simon who is also having wrinkled forehead and eyebrows are almost touching each other's skin. Peter just smiled wickedly as Nathalie felt her face heat up because of embarrassment.
"Eve? Who are they?" Simon couldn't stop himself from asking any longer as he turned around to point where they're sitting. "Hey there! Evielyn!" He added as he hugged and kissed Evielyn's cheeks as a sign of respect.
Simon has this nerdy look but hot. He got thick glasses, defined jawline, thin lips, thick brows that suits him really well and he also got this broad shoulders even though he's not into working out.
"Oh... That's Nathalie, Peter and Jacob, a friend of mine." She replied while pointing at them one by one with a wide smile.
"Since when did you had 'a friend' besides me?" Simon asked her straight and paid his attention towards three sitting on the couch.
"Since today…"
Knowing Simon's attitude who loves nagging just to get through every details even with just a little things, she continued while raising her left brow.
"And I will not entertain any more questions. So... shall we?" She added putting her finger into Simon's lips refraining him from talking again "Mom we're going, bye!" She kissed her mom and grabbed Simon's arms and dragged him towards them on the couch.
"But…" Simon couldn't speak anymore as he was forced to walk down towards the unknown person sitting on Eviery's couch.
Without saying anything, Peter and Nathalie calmly stood up as if nothing happened between them a while ago and waited for Eviery to speak up. Peter wondered if they could tug along with them to the party as what they have heard from Eviery and Simon's conversation a while back at the campus.
As what he had expected, Eviery offered them to come along with her and Simon into a party. As they started to get ready, Evielyn speak again.
"It's not safe outside! Can't we just talk for a few seconds?" She sounded really worried thinking that some Vampires might go after her now that she turned eighteen.
"Tomorrow morning. Mom, I'll be fine. Don't worry." She assured.
"Yes, don't worry Evielyn. We'll just celebrate her birthday tonight." Simon said making sure that he'll take care of her. And the three nodded in unison.
"Just let them have fun tonight Evielyn." Said the guy who arrived.
The black guy in his green eyes arrived looking very tough as it has a toned muscles and wide chest. His voice is very masculine and has its autocratic look.
"Damoooon!" She runs excitedly towards the masculine man give him her warmest embrace.
"Happy birthday kiddo." And he handed her his gift. She then grabbed it and put it inside her drawer. And guided all of them, Simon, Peter, Jacob and Nathalie to the door.
"I'll let her be a kid for the last time. She needs to know the truth about her as much as possible." Peter heard Evielyn spoke to Damon before they are completely out of the house.
He wondered if Evielyn knew something about Eviery being the chosen one. As he looked around the house a while ago, nothing seemed suspicious aside from her worried reaction towards Eviery being 18 years old.
Flashback 10 years ago…
Evielyn's memories…
A little girl in her red hair was playing near the pond and watching the frog in front of her somewhat smiling and jumping from one leaf to another as it created a sound "Kokak! Kokak!"
"Your daughter looks just like you." One woman said to Evielyn when they were sitting in the bench near the pond and flushed a smile at her.
"I think it's the hair." Evielyn uttered.
The little girl near the pond got curious about the water moving or somewhat like boiling as if something will come out if it. The little girl shouted as the big creature came out from the water creating a big splash and is about to attack the little girl.
Evielyn heard her daughter shout. So she quickly moved and took her stele from her pocket and swatch in to the air creating a pattern as it made a sharp light and she disappeared all of a sudden.
The woman beside her was shocked the moment she glanced to her side and nothing was there anymore.
