Dark flames emerged from the white-haired man's hands.
As for Marbas, he enhanced his Auroreal and its sign glittered.
" Time to end all of this! " said the man while building a flames wall around him.
He added:
" I call this ability: Counter wall. The flames will read every movement coming to the wall and then trap you. "
Marbas indifferent about the man's saying charged towards him while raising his dagger.
" Do you think you're capable of breaking through my wall? "
The flames became stronger.
Before that he reaches the wall, Marbas threw his dagger at it.
He suddenly disappeared.
The man anxious didn't know what he was cooking.
Will he come from above? From behind?
" Above! "
Marbas was discovered, yet he was fast.
The man clad in a black revealing vest had to let the dagger go through his wall, and then trap Marbas.
As the flames managed to trap him, Marbas turned into a burning fire.
"A MIRROR IMAGE! " said the man with surprise.
The real Marbas appeared from inside the wall and knocked him out with a punch.
*laughter*
" Why can't I ever defeat you? Why is an asshole like you the one to deserve Berthold's gratitude? You were the reason to his death Marbas. How could you? "
The man, powerless his body stuck on the ground was sobbing while hiding his broken nose with his arm.
Marbas never lost his cool.
As he reached the tree where he put the ladies, it was already the morning.
The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze.
The golden sun sent its blessings that lit up the wreckage of the dark tower, bringing with it new hopes.
The prisoners watching this sacred morning ran through the wide plains embracing freedom.
" Hey, ya. Da ya need a ride? I was going to Torial but I can take ya with me if ya like. "
A man at his age offered him a ride in his carriage.
" You'll have to make yar place beside my babies but I think ya can manage that. "
He showed Marbas a bunch of toys.
" Thank you so much. " Marbas responded.
As the four of them went, the man asked Marbas about their story and what happened to the girls.
" Our carriage got ambushed by bandits. "
" Ya know, male. These roads became more dangerous for a reason. "
" What is it? "
The merchant approached Marbas and with a low tone voice he told him:
" The big guy has some issues ya know, with the nobles. "
" How do you know that? "
" Don't underestimate the ears of a merchant male! We, folks, have info of all the kingdom, ya bet. "
The man had a long beard and wore a red tissue on his head.
" What do you sell, merchant? "
" Ya mean, my babies. Those are my future fortune, ya bet. "
He talked passionately about the toys and how the noble's kids will buy them.
" Ya know, those high folks, they'll do anything to look cooler than each other. Make a paper crap and sell it for the highest price ever, convince their children that the crap is cool which is easy. And here ya go! Ya made a fortune! "
Marbas seems to be enjoying this conversation. After all, what's following him is unpleasant, so a chat like that is a relief to the soul.
They kept talking until they finally reached the city of Creka.
It wasn't a big one, the closest one to Zarac and has fewer guards.
However, the news of the fall of the dungeon quickly reached the palace and an order to secure the surrounding cities was announced.
" Sir. I want you to stop the carriage immediately! An emergency check. "
" Why would ya search me? I'm just a merchant ya know. "
" We have orders, sir. A dark-haired man with two wounded girls killed Lord Baldric. Did you see them somewhere in your way? "
" I don't know what ya saying, folks. I only sell toys, ya know. "
" Check the back! "
Before that the guards could check the back, the merchant whispered:
" Try to cover yarselves with that blanket! "
" I see nothing, chief. " one of the guards told the chief
" Let me check quickly. "
As the chief searched the back, he saw the blankets.
" Check what's under that blanket. "
" Roger, that chief. "
The merchant's face wet with sweat tried to hold the chief:
" Ya already checked me, chief. Ya know I sell only children's toys. I don't have anything to do with yar folk, ya bet. "
" There's nothing under the blanket, sir. "
" I see, sorry for interrupting you, sir. Have a nice day! "
" Ya too chief! "
*sigh*
When the merchant disappeared from the guard's vision, he checked the back and in a surprise, the three totally disappeared!
The merchant had a sign of relief:
" Dang it! I didn't even ask for his name. "
The back door of the small church of Creka was almost crushed from those strong knockings.
As the sisters opened the door, Marbas rushed towards the medical section.
" But, sir. Who are- "
" Corpses thou shall see the dawn. " Marbas replied.
The sisters hurried to save the girls' lives.
" Well, that's an honor for us. The mighty red phoenix is visiting us. "
A fat old man greeted Marbas. From the look of his clothes, he was definitely the head of the small church.
" How do you know me? "
" Your reputation precedes you, young man."
