Chereads / Building a crime empire / Chapter 30 - Not forgotten

Chapter 30 - Not forgotten

Checking if my pistol's cylinder chamber was empty or not, I brought it up after finding the whole gun's loaded.

Walking through the empty dark streets of waterside square, I turn my head around and found the rest of the gang trailing after me.

"I swear to god Albert, I'm really so f*cking tired right now." Kevin complained.

"Let's just finish this business, and we can all go rest for an entire week." I assured him.

"C'mon Albert, can't we just do this next time, I mean... Christian's on the hospital right now, and I already had a lot of blood on my hands this entire day, this is going to take a toll on me." Dave argued.

"There's no next time, an opportunity like this won't show up again." I argued back.

"What if after we arrive and find no one else is there?" Nick asked.

"Then we go home." all of them groaned in frustration at my words.

Alexa... I'm coming, I just hope you stick with the deal.

But still, I can't believe the lass is going to take an entire gang all by herself with just a few men.

Abok, was it?

Arriving in a street corner, we turned left and was met by another quiet and dark street, with the occasional vehicles parked besides random buildings.

*Bang*

A sudden gunshot erupted in the distance, causing all of us to dive on the rough pavement below.

"Shit, what was that?" Kevin asked, slight panic audible on his voice.

"It's probably them." I said, forcing myself to look calm in front of the whole gang when in reality I'm sweating hard in fear.

After that shootout earlier, I'm thrusting myself in another battlefield.

I couldn't get any crazier than this...

*Bang, *Bang, *Bang*

A series of gunshot immediately followed after.

It seems we're not so late after all...

"Alright, let's jump from cover to cover, now follow me." I said before standing up and making my way towards the nearest vehicle, the others following suit as they followed me.

*Bang, *Bang*

Another few cracks of gunshot sounded in the distance.

"Shit, I really want out of here." Kevin muttered quietly as he followed me.

Arriving on the cover on the side of the vehicle, I leaned on it and slightly peeked my head over the streets.

Finding out it's clear, I began to sprint towards another vehicle in the distance, slightly closer towards where the crack of gunshot came from.

*Bang, *Bang, *Bang*

Another series of gunshots followed.

We repeated this cycle over and over again for a few minutes until we found ourselves staring at a local cleaning down the street, bodies littered the entrance as ammunition casings scattered on the ground below.

"F*ck, it's world war three here!" Dave gasped in shock as he stared at the dead bodies.

Keeping quiet, we advance towards the building, guns raised.

"I don't like this." Dave complained again and received grunts of approval from the rest of the men.

"Just shut the hell up and follow me." I said as I began to walk towards the main entrance of the clinic, occasionally stepping over the dead bodies on the ground.

Now, I can already hear sirens wailing in the distance, each second that passes, they gets louder and closer.

"Shit, it's the police, let's just get the hell out of here." Kevin said, intense panic clearly visible on his voice.

"Just shut up and follow me." I merely said as I stepped inside the clinic and continued moving forward.

I can hear Kevin and the rest of the gang growl in frustration as they followed behind me, not one daring to break away.

My eyes then darted around the wrecked lobby of the clinic, furnitures were turned everywhere, with the occasional bullet holes that littered the walls and stuffs in every area.

Not only that, there were three dead bodies inside, one slumped behind a turned table, another on the floor below, and the last one has half of his body dangling from a counter, it's head gone to half as large amounts of blood flowed on the ground below.

Shit..

Continuing on inside the building, I can now faintly hear the police sirens in the distance slowly getting closer and louder, making my heart beat faster, a small streak of panic I can feel welling up inside of me.

What the f*ck am I doing here? risking ourselves like this?!

Shaking my head out from such thoughts, we came upon a large doorway, Motioning for the others to gather around me, I quickly kick the door down and immediately aimed my pistol towards the dark empty hallway that appeared in front of us.

"Come'on" I beckoned for them to follow me as I make my way down the hall, to which I received a few grunts of complain and frustration from the rest of the boys.

"I'm nearly f*cking done, Albert." Kevin complained, lightly punching the wall beside him.

"Shut up... and f*cking follow me." I turned my head towards him and glared at him coldly, making him gulp in anger and at the same time, fear.

Am I already feared?.... If so, then that's good.

Hearing a few screams and gunshots down on the hallway, I quickened my pace and continued my way deeper down the hallway, the others left with no choice but to follow me from behind.

The noises each getting louder as we drew closer to where the noise is.

"Ready your guns." I said to the boys as I checked my pistol one last time to see if it was loaded or not.

"We're ready" they all said at the same time as we neared towards a door leading to an unknown room where the faint sounds of fighting and items crashing becoming louder as we neared.

I then motioned for the rest of the gang to keep quiet as we tip toed towards the door.

"It's over Alexa, your brother's going to hell, and you're going to follow him soon after." we suddenly heard a deep voice speaking inside the room.

Alexa?

So she's still alive... and as for her brother, I don't know about that.

"F*ck you Abok!" A feminine voice answered, her voice echoing in the quiet and dark building.

Wasting no time, I immediately kicked the door down and raised my gun towards the occupants in the room, the rest of the gang followed behind me as they mimicked what I just did.

The room was bloodied, with several bodies lying limp on the white marble floor below.

Not only that, there is an operating table in the middle of the room with tools and instruments scattered everywhere, wooden cabinets and shelves stacked with more tools lined on each side of the room finally indicated that this was indeed an operating room.

Standing in front of me were the only alive people in the room except us.

A burly brown-skinned man that has his pistol aimed at a badly bruised kneeling man besides him, and in the corner of the room... was a slightly bruised Alexa, clutching her right arm while glaring with hatred at the brown-skinned man as she stood frozen in the corner, unable to do anything since the kneeling man's life now depended on the brown-skinned man who has his gun aimed over his head... until we barged in of course.

At the right f*cking time.

"Abok, I get to have the last laugh." Alexa suddenly said as she smirked at him.

"Who do you think you f*cking are old man?!" I grinned as I shot the brown-skinned man now known as Abok on the shoulder, still confused and surprised at the sudden string of events.

he immediately drop his pistol on the ground, crying with pain as he stumbled and fell on the floor below, while Alexa clearly still in pain, rushed to join his badly beaten brother who was now sobbing on the floor below.

"It's okay Adrian, you're safe now." Alexa tried comforting her brother.

"Alexa" I said as I neared towards her, she looked up and stared at me for a moment, then a small smile slowly started to crease on her face.

"Albert, you're just in time." she then turned her head towards his brother and began saying more comforting words to him as he cried under her arms.

"You're both hurt, we need to get out of this place quick since the cops are coming." I suddenly felt a wave of concern towards her.

Am I...?

There is no time to think of such things right now, Albert!

"I understand, but I still have an unfinished business that needs to get taken care of." She stood up and motioned for Nick and Dave to carry Adrian, the two of them surprised at being ordered by someone, much less a woman.

But a quick glare from me immediately prompted them to start their work of hauling Adrian's a*s out of this place.

Me and Kevin then watched silently as Alexa started to whisper a few words on Abok's ears as he lay on the ground, clutching his bloodied shoulder in pain.

After that, she picked up a pistol that was sprawled on the ground, aimed it at his head at point blank range, and pulled the trigger.

*Bang*

Followed by a thump as Abok's lifeless body lay on the floor below.

Alexa, who was now grinning like a maniac shifted her head towards me and smiled.

"Albert, thank you."
