Chapter 3 - Start of a new day

Rays of sunlight touched my face as I stood up from the bed.

Glancing at the clock, I can already tell it's past 9 a.m.

I'm probably late for school.

Oh right, it's Saturday, so no school for me.

My eyes immediately landed on the mess I did back yesterday.

"Shit" I quietly muttered to myself as I stood up.

Stretching my arms and legs, I also noticed I haven't changed my clothes since yesterday.

Not only that, I smell like shit right now.

The thought of Margaret's dry blood on my hoodie prompted me to immediately go outside my room and take a shower.

As I was about to go to the bathroom, I suddenly bumped into my sister, knocking both of us out.

"Awww" she said, holding her forehead.

"S-Sorry, I didn't-" she cuts me off.

"I should be the one to apologize, by the way, where are you going?" she asked.

"Bath" I said before rushing off towards the bathroom.

Once I arrived, I opened the door, got inside, and closed it.

I hurriedly took off my clothing and sling them on a nearby hook attached to the bathroom's wall.

As I was about to step into the shower, I find myself staring into... well...myself in the mirror.

What?

As I stared deeply, I noticed my face is slowly changing....into...Jamie?

"What the f*ck?" I muttered as I immediately shook my head and stared at the mirror again, this time, it was back to normal.

I'm getting crazy.

I stepped into the shower, closed the curtains, and turned the switch on.

The warm sensation of water started trickling on me as I bathed beneath the showerhead.

Dirt mixed with blood fell off my body as I applied soap and shampoo at the same time.

This feels good.

I continued rubbing the soap in my body for a few minutes before I stopped and let the warm water from the shower do it's work in cleansing my body.

Another minute has already passed and I'm done bathing.

Stepping out of the shower, I grabbed the nearby towel hang on a hook on my side, along with my bloodied clothes which my sister hadn't noticed yet due to the hoodie's color being black.

Wrapping the towel on my lower half, I stepped outside and saw my sister on the kitchen preparing food for the both of us.

It's unusual to see her waking up so late, let alone cook and eat food this late also.

It's probably about what happened, it had taken a great toll on her.

"Goodmorning" I greeted to her which she responded with a nod.

Walking inside my room, I closed the door and begin to change my clothes, a sweater and black jeans.

After changing, I went outside to eat breakfast.

And todays dishes are.... cereal.

Yeah, cereal.

"I'm sorry, we're currently low on budget, I can't cook your favorite omelet-" I cut her off.

"No, it's okay, It's better than having nothing." I smiled at her.

And just like that, we began eating breakfast together.

Mmnh~ Although it's still cereal, with her cooking skill, she managed to make it more delicious.

I wish it would continue like this for the rest of my life.

But fate has other plans for me.

After finishing eating, I quickly got up from the dining table and went towards the apartment's door leading outside, bringing my laundry with me.

"Where are you going?" my sister asked.

"Got to get this clean up." I said.

She nodded at this, and after bidding her farewell, I went outside of our room.

Walking down the hallway, I arrived at the lobby again.

But this time, there was no receptionist to greet me, he's probably out there in the bathroom, peeing or taking a shit, not that I really cared about it.

Exiting the building, I was once again greeted by the busy streets of New Arbor city.

People walked pass me, various vehicles speeding down the road.

Just like the usual.

Glancing around, I spot the laundry center a block away.

I then began to make my way towards it, after crossing the road and walking for a few minutes, I finally arrived at my destination.

Opening the door to the building, I went inside.

I chose a vacant laundry machine and immediately threw the clothes I brought with me inside.

Turning the thing on, I make my way towards a nearby bench and sat on it, waiting for the thing to do it's job.

At now, I'm the only person inside the building, save for the owner who was busy reading some adult magazines behind the counter near the entrance.

Oh right... I just remembered something, my room hasn't been cleaned yet, damn it, not only that, my phone is now broken since I shattered it to pieces yesterday, well it's not like my sister is going to be suspicious or anything, right?

Surely, you can't browse my phone when it's broken.

But still, I have to get a new one, stupid me, can't even control myself dammit!

Well, I got to think of an alibi when she sees my room like that, my door's room is still open.

Let's see, hmm?

Uhh...

I can't f*cking think of a reason.

I turned my head towards outside and there... I saw a man walking his dog down the pathway, a Labrador, to be exact.

Oh right, how about when I tried to bring in a stray dog to our room and... uh uh no no no no, I can't even bring a dog inside the lobby.

Albert, just how f*cking stupid can you be?

I mean, why did I even leave my room like that?

As I ponder in my thoughts, the memory of what happened yesterday flashed inside my head.

I immediately started shaking as I remember the person I just killed yesterday....the faces of Jamie and his family as they rush to the scene....and.... the picture of my sister.

I immediately brushed the thoughts away as I brought my hand over my head.

Ah shit... I'm going to start having nightmares about it starting from now, but why didn't I had one yesterday.

Aggh... f*cking forget it!

At this, I just noticed the small tv in the upper left corner of the building, and it was broadcasting news about what happened.... yesterday?

At this, my face suddenly paled and my body shook.

Fuck, am I going to jail??

"As of know, the identity of the culprit is still unknown, but the New Arbor police department is doing their best in tracking the person responsible for the murder of a nineteen year old college student, Margaret Towers ~ ~"

My ears perked up at this and I suddenly felt the flowing rush and sensation of relief.

I sighed at this, good, i can get out of this scotfree.

Despite having a lot of witness, they didn't actually see his face.

After a few more minutes of waiting, the laundry was gone and I was finally good to go.

Stepping outside, I walked down the same path and arrived at the apartment building, going inside the lobby, I went down the hallway and finally arrived at my room.

Stepping inside, I find my sister sleeping on the couch in the living room.

I then went straight to my room, and once I went inside, I immediately saw all of it cleaned with my things placed back in their original spot in an orderly fashion, ah shit, my sister probably cleaned all of it, f*ck I feel so stupid and shameless.

I then placed all of my new cleaned clothes in the closet and stepped out of my room once again.

Time to start my plan in motion.

Going towards my sister, Anna, who was in fact still busy snoring, I tugged on her sleeves, effectively waking her up.

"Oh, uh, goodmorning?" she greeted lazily.

Oh, she didn't talked about what happened inside my room, weird.

"Uh, goodmorning too." I greeted back.

"Oh, if you need a phone, I can let you borrow mine for a while until we can get you a new one." she said.

I was taken aback for a moment, before I finally managed to speak back.

"O-Oh, thank you, that much is appreciated." I said back with a smile.

After handing me the phone, I immediately went to the kitchen and dialed someone.

And if you're wondering who this someone is, it was my old friend, Kevin, who owed me and my sister a thousand bucks.

"H-Hello, Anna?" a voice suddenly spoke through the phone in my ears.

"It's me Albert." i spoke back.

"O-Oh Albert, been a long time since we last spoke, so how are you?" he asked me, his tone indicating he was annoyed with me right now.

What an as*hole.

"Remember what you owe me?"

"Look, money's ready next month, I promise, man."

"That's what you told me a year ago."

"This time, it's different, I swear to god!"

This broke son of a b*tch, can't even take care of himself.

"look Kevin, I'm getting tired of your bullshit right now."

I can hear him gasped behind the phone, probably surprised by my newfound attitude, you see I was always the kind and naive boy in the past, but that was now in the past, this time I've changed.

"Look here Kevin, I'm willing to clear you debt right now."

"What? r-really?!" he exclaimed in surprise.

Your pathetic and miserable friend.... just like me.

"Only if you have to work for me now."

"Y-You're finally giving me a job now? did you open up some kind of store or something?"

"I gave you a job, but no store or some shit, you sound really happy right now, I bet you're already thinking how you're going to clear the gambling debts you owe to everybody."

He suddenly went silent at this.

"You said you know someone who had connections with various smuggling and trafficking business here in mainland America?" I asked.

"W-Why are you suddenly talking about thi-" I cut him off.

"Just answer, you punk!" I demanded.

"Y-Yes, why?"

I sighed at this, before speaking again.

"Give me his number."

"Why?"

"Am I have to rethink giving you this chance?"

"Fine" he finally relented.
