The horror, the sight in front of her, has her eyes wider than ever before. Mouth gaped open, trembling in his hands. Her skin going pale, her legs struggling to keep her standing. All the while the rain poured heavily on the two, darkness sweeping over with just a hint of light from the sky.
The lightning strikes, illuminating the man in front of her. There stood the man she had shot dead in the abandoned field, left for dead 5 years ago under the bursting sunset. Jake Aaron Parker: her ex, her first love, a deranged psychopath. A man who murdered so many she loved to trap her in his arms. The sight of him had her dizzy, her head was spinning.
The locks of dark black hair pushed back from his forehead, the piercings she remembered all too well. Septum, eyebrow piercing, lip ring, even the smiley that appeared from the parting of his lips. With the lightning his crystal blue eye blinded her, she remembered the bright color all too well.
Jake only looked so much like his past self, the part of him horrified her even more. The left side of his face was deformed, a gigantic hole someone could stick their hand through. Infected, dead skin and flesh calling off parts of the face. Amelia's eyes could see far into his skull, a hole of where his eye socket used to be. That was it, that was where she had shot him.
Something out of a gore movie, nothing you would ever think to see in real life. Dead skin hanging off like special effects, crevices of infected nerves and flesh. The hole pushing back deep inside of him, she could see the rotting of parts beginning to take part. Half corpse, and half living.
Jake Parker was alive, even with half of his face blasted by her bullets. She thought the aim would have done the job. Wiped the evil man off of the planet, do some good.
Jake Parker was alive, her aim was awful.
Horrified, she dropped her gun with shaky hands. Her ex lover grabbed her by the shoulders, digging his hands into her skin. "You said ya loved me! After all I-- All I did for you!" The voice modification was gone, the fancy speech disappeared. It was only Jake, his new york accent finally poking through the facade. He continued to scream in her face, Amelia flinching.
"And what do ya give me in fuckin' return?! A bullet to my face, and leavin' me out in the middle of nowhere!" Jake shakes her, the woman defenseless in his hands. "Crawlin' back to civilization for the help I couldn't fuckin' get!"
Under the sunset, she left him to die. She wanted him to die, why couldn't he have just bled out? Left to rot, and become one with the soil. He would have made her life simple if he had just died when she shot him in the face.
Instead he lived, surviving for so long with nothing but anger and obsession in his heart. Jake had become unhinged, another level of obsession. It frightened her, shaking her down to her very core.
He growls, "Do you understand how much pain I feel, do you?!"
Jake had really fallen over the deep end. He was too far gone to ever try to save him, help him. A man's obsession turned him to kill to get the attention of his object. Never had she thought to come face to face with him again. It had her rattled, petrified.
"Y-you're crazy!" Her voice cracks, stuttering as she wiggles to get free of his grasp. Amelia is successful this time, pushing past him and making a run for it.
Huffing and puffing, she runs as fast as she can down the sidewalk. Not looking back to see if he was chasing her, trying her best to get as far away as possible. Her boots splash the puddles as the storm continues to beat down on her.
She had to look back, she had to see if he was close behind.
Peering for only a moment, Amelia sees Jake very close behind her. His long legs carried him at a fast pace behind her. Her eyes widened at his expression, he had a smile plastered across his lips. A wide smile, grinning from ear to ear: a menacing cackle filling her ears.
The rain damns her, losing her footing she falls forward. Falling face forward she groans, trying to bring herself back up to her feet before he reaches her. "Fuck!" Amelia shouts, unable to get up from a lying position.
Looking back, she can feel the pain coming from her ankle. On the fall down she must have twisted it, the tears brimming in her eyes confirms it. It was painful, more painful then she had hoped during this dire situation. She tries to move her ankle, feeling a sharp pain shoot through her leg. Amelia hisses, squeezing her eyes tightly. Her eyes switched to behind her, she could see Jake's figure getting closer. He was closing in on the distance between them, she had to hurry.
Amelia couldn't stand, trying her hardest to begin crawling away. There had to be someone, anyone out in this town. It was impossible for the two of them to be the only ones out in this little piece of California.
Amelia shouts, her voice breaking. "Help-- He- someone help me! Please!" A continuous shout for help, for anyone to hear her and come to her aid. She was weak, breaking down as she continued to crawl with her elbows. She tries to get up once more, but the pain in her ankle is too powerful to push through.
Crawling does nothing for the agent, feeling the tight and sudden grip on her hair. She yells having her head forced back, tears streaming down her face. Jake stood over her, head tilted in amusement of her display. Amelia whimpers, silently praying to God.
"Now, now.. Don't hold in ya pretty little hollers Amelia." She could feel his hot breath against her ear. He spoke in a whisper, hissing down the side of her ear.
With all of her might she turns her head to look at him, but the grotesque form of his face has her quickly pushing her gaze away. She couldn't look at him, not with how deformed he had become. He had turned into someone she didn't even recognize, it had gotten worse after that day. Jake should have died, she needed him to die.
Jake sighs, feeling his nose press against the side of her head. He sniffs her hair, humming in content. "We're going to have so much fun rekindlin' together you and I."
He killed her friends, her family, he ruined her life. The time where she wished he had turned out different was over. He was never going to be different, he was always reteched. Jake was never going to change the diseases pouring into his mind. He was lost, he thought he was found. The man was beyond redemption.
"I'll never forgive you, you fucking monster." Amelia snarls back, groaning as he yanks her hair back further.
Jake frowns, eyebrows furrowing over his eye. "I'll show ya what a real fuckin' monster is."
She could feel the pulling of her head even further, and before she knew it the sidewalk was flying towards her. Screaming before she makes contact, all of it going black. The scene hushed, no more screams from her red lips. The lipstick smeared down her chin, mouth agape open.
Mother nature's storm roars on, as the once dead man picks up his unconscious obsession. Holding her in his arms with care, even with his actions to knock her out. Rubbing his latex glove on her skin, carrying her bridal style. Jake's head peers up to the sky, the crash of lightning pulling at his sight.
His boots walk slowly on the sidewalk, turning down in a dark alleyway. All the while his lips pull a demeanted smile. Light sounds of laughing echo across the alleyway, increasing in sound with each passing moment. Manic laughter echoes its walls, blending in under the dark sky.
The cat and mouse chase had changed, their roles reversed. At the mercy of the mouse, the cat would no doubt be fearful. For the mouse was a lot more skilled than the cat had ever predicted. Amelia was at Jake's every whim, and no one could stop him.
A plan so fruitful, it had only just begun. Waiting years upon years for this exact moment, watching the rising and falling of her chest. Alive, real in the palm of his hands.
He'd make her remember him, everything he had done for her. Everything she had taken from him, how much he lost without her. The only woman he had truly loved, admired, wished to possess for as long as they lived. She ruined it, destroyed all of the visions he had of them together.
Killing the people in their way was for their relationship to grow, to flourish.
Love was a truly dangerous thing, he would do anything for it. Desperate times came with drastic measures. Especially when she was at stake, he would be damned without her. Jake wouldn't let her run away again.
Not when he finally had her trapped in his sights. If she refused, he had other methods to make her comply. Jake knew all too well how tortuous life was without his woman, his life would tear at the seams without her.
He'd make sure to tear hers apart, if he wasn't in it. She wasn't allowed to live on without him, not ever again.
