"What is this? Who's making a fuss?" a voice with a firm tone rang out.
Lin Lin turned towards the voice. Immediately she saw a man with a slightly wrinkled face but could not hide the good looks that had swallowed up by time. Lin Lin found out it was her grandfather. From Lin Lin's original memory, her grandfather was very kind to her. Even her grandfather always defended her. Unfortunately, they live in different residences. Making Lin Lin have to live a life of being bullied without her father knowing.
"S-sir, this girl claims to be your granddaughter," said the gatekeeper stammered.
"Grandchild? Lin'er is this you kid?" asked prime minister Liu gently.
"Grandpa!" Lin Lin immediately rushed into prime minister Liu's arms. The man with a tall and firm stature returned Lin Lin's hug.
"Hmm? Are you taller now?" asked prime minister Liu as he led Lin Lin inside.
"Of course, grandpa, how can I be short forever," said Lin Lin.
Lin Lin used to be a gentle but cheerful person. That's why everyone likes her so much. In the past, the poison that made Lin Lin ugly had not worked either. But because of that, Lin Lin was hated by the caterpillar duo. Just out of envy. Since being bullied, Lin Lin has become a shy, timid, crybaby, and useless person. Her grandparents' last visit was when Lin Lin was 5 years old. From then on, Lin Lin's bullying period began.
"Why did you visit without telling grandpa, huh?" asked prime minister Liu.
"So grandpa isn't happy when I visit?" asked Lin Lin with a sad face. More like pretending to be sad.
"It's not like that. Grandpa doesn't want grandpa's favourite granddaughter to be treated like before," said prime minister Liu.
"Don't you know that I've always been treated like that?" Lin Lin asked.
"Th-that…" prime minister Liu was a bit confused.
"Grandfather knows something I want to know, right?" Lin Lin smiled with satisfaction at being able to corner her grandfather.
"Hah, I didn't think that the day would come when my granddaughter could beat me in speaking," Prime Minister Liu muttered, which Lin Lin could still hear.
"Visit your grandmother first. She must miss you," said prime minister Liu.
"Where is Grandma now?" Lin Lin asked.
"In the lotus pond garden," said prime minister Liu.
"That's-" before prime minister Liu finished speaking, Lin Lin immediately cut off the conversation.
"Grandmother!" shouted Lin Lin as she ran towards her grandmother, who was sitting with her back to Lin Lin.
Grandma Meng turned around to see who was shouting. When she saw Grandma Meng was overjoyed. She saw her beloved granddaughter running towards her.
Grandma Meng immediately spread her arms. Lin Lin understood the code her grandmother gave her. Lin Lin immediately hugged her grandmother tightly with speed, slowly slowing down. Premier Liu shook his head at his granddaughter's behaviour.
"Lin'er, why didn't you tell me that you were going to visit hem?" asked Grandma Meng.
"Ehehe, actually Lin Lin wanted to surprise grandpa and grandma so didn't tell anyone," said Lin Lin.
Grandma Meng looked behind Lin Lin, "Weiwei, you take good care of my granddaughter, right?" Grandma Meng's tone was threatening but also joking.
"Of course, big lady," said Weiwei, looking down.
In the past, Weiwei's mother had served Liu Mei even before Weiwei was born. When Weiwei was little, she lived in the residence of prime minister Liu with her mother. Her father was a bodyguard at the time. Unfortunately, Weiwei's father died when Weiwei was little. When Liu Mei married into the General's residence, her mother Weiwei and Weiwei also went to the General's residence. Before Liu Mei was unconscious, Liu Mei had asked her mother Weiwei to take care of her child. Unfortunately, Weiwei's mother didn't live long after that. Weiwei's mother died because she was robbed by bandits who disturbed the residents in the market when they were buying cooking ingredients.
When Weiwei found out that, she was devastated. But she remembered, her mother had said to be faithful to the young lady. Never betray her. Take good care of her like Weiwei's mother did. Since then, Weiwei has always tried to survive for the sake of Lin Lin.
Grandma Meng smiled, "Thank you for all your service to our family," said Grandma Meng.
Weiwei shook her head, "Big madam, I don't deserve your gratitude. I have to serve the young lady. Because the big lady's family has done a lot for my mother and me."
"Your mother would be proud to have a child-like you. Go rest. You must be tired of accompanying this brat," Grandma Meng said as she glanced at Lin Lin out of the corner of her eye. It made Lin Lin frown.
"Okay, big lady," said Weiwei, bowing her head and leaving.
"So my granddaughter visiting here must have something to ask, right?" said Grandma Meng.
"Yes, grandma, who am I?" Lin Lin asked but meant many things.
"Leave us alone," Prime Minister Liu told the guards and servants there.
"Maybe we should explain it from the start."
"Our family is one of the few families with ancient bloodlines remaining. A rumour circulating in the community said that anyone who drank the blood of someone who had an ancient bloodline or lineage would live a long and youthful life. And their strength will increase," said prime minister Liu.
"Grandfather, are the rumours true?" asked Lin Lin started to feel scared and couldn't help but think.
"Of course not. Only a fool would believe that," said prime minister Liu.
"That means there are a lot of stupid people in this world," Lin Lin muttered as she nodded her head.
"Because of that tumour, all the families with ancient bloodlines have to hide and disguise themselves among society. Do you know Lin'er why grandparents chose to stay in this empire?" asked prime minister Liu.
"Because this empire isn't very strong in people?" guessed Lin Lin.
"Of course not. It's because Emperor Ling never believed the rumours. Emperor Ling considers all the rumours to be nonsense because he has seen it himself," explained Premier Liu.
"You mean grandpa?"
"Your grandfather is right, dear. His father, the current emperor Ling, the former emperor, had done that. Instead of reaping the stated benefits of the rumours, he died right after drinking the blood," explained Grandma Meng.
"Wow, doesn't that mean we can kill people just by having them drink our blood?" Lin Lin asked in awe.
