*Jenny*
"Oh, you answered… well, I just wanted to know how your 'date' is going…?". Ebony explained on the phone. I just then forced out a laugh.
"Well, if a certain 'call' didn't happen at all, something good might've happened.".
"Oh…? Oh! I'm so sorry! I'll hang up now and continue whatever you two are doing!". I was just about to tell her it was okay but she really did hang up on me. I just chuckled at it and focused my sight on Noel who was still hiding his red face from me. He looked so cute being embarrassed I just had to give him a kiss on his cheek.
It briefly surprised him but he flashed his dashing smile at me. I then said to him, "Take me home…?".
At our apartment, we were welcomed by Clay and Chloe. Then Ebony came but something else caught her eyes, "Oh my-what happened to your dress!?" She then eyed Noel but I took her attention again, "No, no, it wasn't his fault; an idiot bumped our table and spilled wine on me.".
"Who was – uhh, anyway, get in. You didn't tell me that Clay can cook.". Oh, I didn't know either. Apparently, Clay knows how and by the time Ebony got home, he's already in the middle of cooking.
"Welcome back." Olive greeted us. "I heard you two had 'dinner' together so I decided to stick around until you come back.". Ebony then said from the kitchen, "Yeah, and did you know they live in the same family estate?"
"Really?" I asked while Noel closed the door and helped me out of the jacket, such a gentleman. I thanked him then he told me, "Yes, our family wanted everyone close and within reach. Though we live in separate houses. We can make up a whole neighborhood with our numbers.".
"Wow, how nice...". Now I miss my mom, I haven't heard from her lately. Noel must've noticed my sudden quietness so he lightly patted my head. "When the time comes, I'll introduce you to my family.". I felt a little shy but meeting others in Noel's family would be nice.
"I'll see you later okay…?".
"Later…?". I got confused about what he was saying, he grinned at me and then kissed my forehead. "It's already Thursday, my little bunny. Your first day starts today.". My eyes grew wide, he's right! I totally forgot about that. Wait, 'little bunny'...?
He chuckled and called out to Olive, "Liv, it's time to go.". Chloe suddenly then appeared and asked, "You're leaving already…?". Whoa there Chloe, I didn't notice her approaching. Noel squatted down then pats her head, "Yes Chloe but we'll come back sometime. Take care of Jenny for me, alright?". The kid merrily saluted and yelled, "Sir! Yes sir!". It made me smile how Noel interacts with her. He then signals her to go back inside, and he stands up smiling.
After they left, we tucked the kids to bed. Ebony then marched up to me and asked, "So? How did it go?".
"Huh, I already told you 'How'd it go'."
"I really messed it up, didn't I?".
"Yes, you kind of did. Though it turned out to be okay.".
"You mean-wait… are you two a 'thing' now?".
I just bit my lower lip and nodded at her. She then squealed lowly and embraced me. She's even more excited than me, "I'm so happy for you! Now things will be more interesting!". It will indeed, I never felt like this before. It's more intense than the last time. I hope I can keep this up.
"Are you sure you don't want me to accompany you?" Ebony had asked me twice within an hour while on the phone. I was on my way to Wolfeland Industries. I swung my head and replied, "What are you? My Mom…? I'll be fine. This is not my first rodeo on a client visit, okay?".
"Fine. Message me if something comes up, okay?".
"Yes, Mom. Goodbye Mom." I ended the call. Seriously, she's way too worried these days. I know I frequently get involved in accidents in the past few weeks but I think she's overthinking things too much.
Luckily after searching the streets for minutes, I spotted Wolfeland Industries' company building which was very different from the other company building that I have entered. The layout inside was modern; very modern if I may compare. I got a little intimidated by the people walking around with their IDs hanging on their necks cause they all looked very stunning, unlike me who was wearing a white long sleeve work dress, a black coat, and 2-inch white heels along with a simple black shoulder bag. I looked rather too plain to be in this building. I nearly thought that I stepped into a very different world until a familiar figure welcomed me from the side.
"Ms. Jenny Del Cruz, welcome to Wolfeland Industries." I blinked a few times before recalling his name. "Mr. Johnny Lace," I gestured to shake his hand which he accepted, "It's nice to see you again.". He nodded once and told me, "Likewise, Mr. Noel told me to welcome you and give an overview of our company.".
"Oh, that's great. I'm sorry to bother you.".
"No need to apologize, Miss. Although would you mind waiting here for a few minutes? There's something I need to take care of before we go.".
"Oh, by all means. It's just my first day so it's fine.". He gave me a small smile and then guided me to a waiting area. After he left, I wanted to message Ebony but then I heard an argument by the elevator near me.
"I'm sorry Sir but I can't allow you to go up without an appointment–".
"I said I know your CEO and I can go anywhere I want in this building. Now, move it!".
"I'm sorry I can't…".
Huh, seems like he doesn't have an appointment and the lady receptionist is quite brave in stopping him. This guy looks young, from his get-up to his attitude, maybe early 20's…? I placed my coat and bag beside me and decided to get near the scene.
"What is happening here?" Oh, it's Johnny, perfect timing. "Mr. Lace, this man here doesn't have an appointment yet he's insisting on going up." The lady reported while the young man looked and… wait, is he smirking? I looked at Johnny who looked a bit tense, does he know this man?
"Mr. Clifford, I was not aware you'll be visiting today." Oh, so he knew him. The young man put his hands inside his pockets and snorted, "Well, I just felt like it so yeah I'm here.". He then pointed at the lady and bluntly said, "Fire her.".
