Chapter 6 - CHAPTER SIX

Aderemi POV

I couldn't believe I agreed with what that girl said, I think she said her name was Rachel. I didn't know what came over me to make me accept something as crazy as that- I mean she's a total stranger. She might have been a reporter, a thief, or maybe a kidnapper. She looked too innocent- innocent people fall in love easily and get hurt, but I must say that she looked beautiful but she's far from being my type. I love my women Light-skinned, fleshy with sultry eyes. I remembered the way she talked, she mentioned every word in a comforting manner. She was bold.

I didn't know how to explain to Mia that it wasn't what she thought. There was this girl I met in Kenya during a match with them and we became friends and clicked but I realized later that being friends with her was a grave mistake. Ashley wanted us to be more than friends and I didn't want that. I have my fiancee, whom I love and planning to show everyone in the world. She has been sending me text messages all this time even though I told her no. I've blocked her contact countless times but she found ways to get to me with another mobile number. Mia came visiting and I just didn't know how I forgot to delete her last text message. I planned on proposing to Mia before she goes back to America because she came to Nigeria for a holiday since it's been a while we had face-to-face contact and I have been busy with matches for my country.

Mia is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. I didn't just know why she had to snoop through my phone this time. I think I fucked up this time, isn't it?. I didn't know but the more I tried to remember Mia, the more Rachel kept coming to my mind or maybe it's better to call her.

I brought out my phone from my pocket and dialed her number but she didn't pick up, maybe she's asleep already. I checked the time and it was midnight already. It's late and I have a training section early tomorrow morning and I didn't even tell the girl the time we will meet. Since she didn't pick up, I might just tell her tomorrow. There are lots of things to say to her, lots of questions to ask because this relationship we want to engage in, will affect her life and I need to confirm if she's capable and up to the task.

I tried Mia's mobile number for the umpteenth time but she wasn't picking up. I picked up my car keys from the bar and went to my room. Tomorrow is going to be a long day and I want to be prepared for what is going to happen.

*****************************************

The training we had this morning was very vigorous and got me very tired. Despite sleeping late yesternight or maybe this morning, I still had to wake up around 5 am. The training was very vigorous because we were preparing for a friendly match with England ahead of the world cup and the coach stressed the need to win our games.

"What's up Rem?" I heard Vincent, my best friend on the team ask behind me. My teammates call me Rem because they said they needed a name to remind them that I'm a Nigerian even if I'm almost white-skinned and I love the name because whatever happens, I love my country.

"Nothing much, just fine" I answered and went to pick up my towel before heading to the bathroom for a warm shower.

"You seem to have a lot on your mind this morning" he must have noticed a change in my attitude

"You are right. Mia left me at the table before I had time to propose "

"What do you mean by saying 'left you at the table'? You left me at that bar because you wanted to propose to her at Sheraton yesterday" he muttered.

"Come on, I'm serious. she read the text message Ashley sent to me yesterday and the funniest part is that she just flared up, called me a bastard, and left even though I tried to make her understand" I said groggily

"But why will you leave that kind of message on your phone? you know that girl sends messages like you guys are dating" he looked at me

"So have you made her understand by explaining what happened and apologised?"

I picked up my towel after I was done with my shower and went to my locker to get my clothing. "She hasn't given me time to explain and I have been trying her number since yesterday but she has not been picking up" I carried my bag and left the room with Vincent on my trail.

"So what do you plan on doing now?" He asked

"I'm leaving for her apartment after leaving this place and if she won't accept my apologies then I will get her with another plan" I explained

"Plan? Which plan?" He asked amused.

I explained what happened after Mia left me at the table and Vincent listened with rapt attention. I knew that with the way he was looking at me he might want to go against the plan

"You mean the girl volunteered to help? Are you sure this girl is not after your money or fame or a reporter trying to act like a Nurse?" I didn't know why he thought of something like that, I don't know if he used the same brain he used to go past an opponent goalkeeper and score goals to think like this.

"I don't think she's lying and besides she looked innocent and just wanted to help out, she told me she's my fan"

"Are you sure?" He asked

"Of course".

"I wish to meet the girl, maybe she's what you said she is because you don't know Naija babes since you are partly a foreigner" he said.

"You are right, I'm not really used to Naija system but I think she's sincere and besides I just want Mia back. You know Mia has been supportive and she's my best part after my parent and I love her" I continued "If she accepts my apologies this moment then I won't need that girl's service at all, all I just have to do is tell her my girlfriend is back and I don't think she will have any problem with that"

"If you think you are right then you are, just get your ass down to Mia's house and apologize. I will meet the Rachel girl later"

"No problem, bro" I said and hopped into my car, thanked him, waved, and zoomed off. I just hope I'm doing the right thing as Vincent has said.
