He walked down the corridor, making his way towards the main hallway without a sound.
"You've finally come." A man commented when Jin reached the stairs leading outside, walking forward and offering him a warm smile.
"Sir." Jin greeted politely as he took off his hat and placed it neatly over the front of his coat before bowing slightly. "Is everything okay?" He asked. The mans eyebrows rose slightly.
"Of course." He replied, nodding his head. "Your mother is waiting for you. She misses her son dearly."
"She does?" Jin asked, blinking a little.
"Oh yes." He nodded once more. "She misses you terribly." He added quietly.
"...What time is it?" Jin questioned, glancing at his watch. He furrowed his eyebrows when he saw that it was only half past ten in the morning.
"Midnight." Sir said. Jin pursed his lips.
"...Are my mother and father still awake?" He asked. Sir nodded.
"They both stayed up late last night. They missed you very much." The mans voice grew softer. "...If you want I can take you to them." He offered. Jin stared at him for a few moments. He felt uneasy.
"...No." He declined. "I'll go myself. Thank you." He smiled weakly. He turned around towards the front of the house, glancing around as he hurried down the stairs. There was a guard standing outside the door waiting for him patiently.
"Jin." The guard greeted.
"What is it?" He asked, looking at the guard cautiously. The man smirked.
"Your brother has requested your presence, sir." The guard replied, opening the door for Jin. Jin nodded, walking past the guards and out onto the cold, greyish stone road. He shivered slightly, pulling his jacket close around his body, trying to keep warm. He glanced around nervously before moving forward.
"Are you sure it was wise to bring him here?" Jin questioned softly as he followed the guard. The guard hummed softly.
"I believe so, sir." The guard commented. Jin sighed quietly, rubbing his hands over his arms anxiously.
"What does he want?" He wondered.
"I'm not entirely sure." The guard commented. "He didn't seem very pleased with my request." He added.
"Did something happen?" Jin inquired worriedly. The guard raised his eyebrows slightly.
"Nothing major." He answered. "His mother came to talk with the lord about something. She apparently wants to speak with him about something important." He explained. Jin nodded slowly, biting down on his lower lip, frowning.
"Alright..." He muttered.
"And, sir, there is one more thing that I thought you ought to know." The guard added quickly, glancing at him nervously. Jin raised a brow questioningly.
"Anything you want to tell me?" He questioned.
"Well...there is one more person that the lord doesn't want to hear about." The guard mentioned. Jin paused.
"Who?" He asked. "Who don't want to hear about?" He repeated. The guard remained silent.
"Tell me." He demanded. The guard lowered his head slightly, looking down at his shoes.
"The other boy." He whispered. Jin froze.
"What other boy?" He whispered. The guard lowered his head even further.
"The servant boy that works alongside you." He explained. "The boy that was found dead two weeks ago." He said quietly.
"Oh." Jin murmured, blinking rapidly. His eyes flickered upwards briefly. "He was found by the guards that were guarding our mansion."
"That's right." The guard said.
"Is there any chance that he might be alive?" Jin wondered aloud.
"I'm afraid not, sir." The guard answered. Jin's expression became dark.
"...Why are they protecting him?" He questioned.
"I don't know..." The guard answered honestly. Jin swallowed deeply.
"...When will they let me see him?" He asked.
"Tonight."
"But...why tonight?"
"Because it's the full moon, sir. Tonight, all of the guards will change." The guard explained.
"...Then tonight, I shall return to the mansion, alone." Jin decided.
"Very well." The guard nodded. "Be careful, sir."
Jin nodded, starting to walk again. The guard watched his younger brother for several seconds before walking back inside the building and shutting the gate.
Jin kept walking down the pathway through the woods. He didn't stop until he reached the gates of the estate. He stopped near the gate, looking down into the forest, gazing around. He closed his eyes as he listened, feeling nervous.
"...Hello?" He called softly. There was no response.
"Hello? Anybody here?" He called again.
"Jin." Another voice spoke. Jin opened his eyes, looking around.
"...Yoongi?" He called.
There was a rustle of leaves behind him. Jin whipped around, looking around. He gasped quietly when he saw his brother walking towards him through the woods. Jin relaxed slightly. He was surprised to see his brother but he didn't show it.Hyung." He breathed, stepping forwards.
"What are you doing out here?" Yoongi asked, his voice hushed.
"I...wanted to check on things." Jin explained. Yoongi frowned lightly.
"How long have you been walking for?" He questioned.
"Not too long. Why?" Jin asked. Yoongi didn't answer, reaching down to grab Jin's hand, leading him through the trees. He held his brothers hand tightly as they walked through the woods together, heading towards their home.
They made their way through the woods, passing through different areas of the estate. Once they arrived at the mansion, Jin stopped, staring at the tall house in confusion.
"Why are we here?" He asked, stopping beside his brother. Yoongi looked at him in amusement.
"We're going inside." He answered. Jin blinked, shaking his head slightly.
"Why?" He asked curiously.
"So that you can see where you are supposed to stay for the next three months." Yoongi replied simply.
"Three months?" Jin asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah." Yoongi confirmed. Jin bit his lip. "Don't worry though. I told Jimin to get you a separate bedroom. It'll just be until then, alright?" Jin nodded Okay..." He mumbled, lowering his head.
"Come on." Yoongi said, turning around, beginning to lead the way through the front entrance of the mansion towards the large, wooden double doors.
Chapter 5
"What did she say?" Jin questioned softly, sitting on the edge of the bed, his hands clasped carefully in his lap. Namjoon sat across from him.
"She's going to talk to your father first. Then she's going to speak to yours." Namjoon replied, leaning back against the headboard of the bed. Jin looked away from him for a second, exhaling sharply through his nose.
"What if she says no?" He asked quietly.
"Then we try again another day." Namjoon stated.
"Will that work?" Jin asked.
"It has to." Namjoon responded.
"...Okay." Jin agreed after a pause, looking back at his older brother.
"Are you hungry?" Namjoon questioned. Jin shook his head.
"No." He replied, glancing down.
"Have you eaten today?" He questioned again.
"No. I haven't. But I won't bother asking you for food again." Jin murmured. Namjoon sighed quietly, running a hand down his face.
"Jin." He started. "You need to eat." He instructed.
"I don't like eating." Jin murmured. Namjoon rolled his eyes.
"Please Jin." He begged, sounding tired.
"Fine." Jin agreed, throwing his arms up in defeat.
"Thank you." Namjoon muttered, relaxing slightly. Jin shrugged lightly, averting his gaze towards his lap. Namjoon sighed loudly, standing up, walking over to the window. He stared out of the window silently.
"Namjoon." Jin called. The elder looked back at him.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Can you do me a favor?" He requested softly. Namjoon stared at him silently, thinking carefully for a moment.
"What kind of favor?" He asked. Jin bit his bottom lip, hesitating slightly.
"Um...can you ask one of the maids to cook something for me?" He requested. Namjoon looked at him confused.
"What do you want me to tell her?" He questioned.
"Just...say that I asked for it to be prepared for me. If they ask for why, tell them that I'm not allowed to leave my room for three months without being escorted by either one of you or a member of staff." He explained. Namjoon nodded slowly. Alright." He murmured. "I'll see what I can do." Jin nodded faintly, dropping his gaze back down to his lap.
---
Two hours later, everything had settled down. Jin had already finished dinner and was now seated alone at his room, waiting impatiently for Namjoon and Yoongi to arrive to escort him downstairs. He'd managed to avoid making eye contact with his parents since arriving back to the mansion. He couldn't look at them, knowing how disappointed they would be that he didn't go to the ball earlier. After what happened, he wouldn't dare look at them. He wouldn't be able to handle seeing how disappointed he knew they would be in him. He knew he wasn't ready for that conversation.
Jin glanced up as he heard footsteps approaching. He stood up abruptly, turning around, smiling softly upon seeing Namjoon and Yoongi enter the room, both holding plates in their hands.
"I hope you've been enjoying the dinner." Jin stated, moving forward a little, taking one of the plates handed to him, glancing down at it for a brief second before looking back up at them, smiling brightly.
"Thank you." He thanked gratefully. Namjoon smiled warmly in reply before walking over to his own seat. Yoongi simply took his own place opposite himeating his dinner silently while watching his brother.
Jin quickly ate his meal before excusing himself from the table. He left his plate and went back into his bedroom, sitting on the bed. He stared blankly at the wall. A small smile crept onto his lips at the thought of spending time with his brothers. They were his family. And he loved them so dearly.
His thoughts immediately drifted towards the night before. How could he forget about the last two months?
He shook his head. He couldn't think about that now. He had a plan to get out of his punishment once and for all. That was all that mattered now.
Chapter 6
"Jinnie~" Yoongi greeted happily, wrapping his arms around his smaller brother, lifting him up off the ground slightly. Jin giggled softly, returning his brother's hug. He gently pushed him away.
"Put me down hyung." He ordered playfully. Yoongi chuckled, setting Jin down. Jin turned, hugging his brother tightly.
"I missed you Hyung." He whispered.
"I missed you too, kiddo." Yoongi murmured back, resting his cheek on Jin's head. "Did you enjoy your time in the city?" He asked. Jin nodded.
"A lot." He murmured. Yoongi chuckled softly Do you miss it?" Yoongi asked. Jin tilted his head slightly.
"Yes...I guess I do." He admitted. Yoongi nodded.
"I'm glad you're staying with us. It will keep you safe." Yoongi assured. Jin smiled at him.
"Yeah." He agreed. His brother pulled back to glance at him.
"So, what's new in the city?" Yoongi inquired curiously.
"Oh...well, there's still the ball tomorrow night." Jin replied.
"Really? Wow, you really enjoyed yourself huh?" Yoongi asked sarcastically.
"Of course, I did." Jin retorted. Yoongi laughed softly.
"You know who's coming to the ball tomorrow." Jin murmured.
"Who?" Yoongi questioned. Jin hesitated slightly.
"My friends." He replied softly.
"Oh!" Yoongi exclaimed excitedly. "Jiminie is coming! Jungkook and Taehyung are coming! We should probably find Hoseok. He might come too, right?" Yoongi asked.
"Yeah...we need to find him soon." Jin agreed. Yoongi grinned widely.
---
The morning came far too soon. Jin got up early, having taken a shower He dressed carefully, choosing a pair of dark jeans, a white shirt, black leather jacket and a pair of black combat boots with silver buckles, all of which looked expensive. He brushed his hair back, putting gel in it before tying it back into a loose ponytail. He checked himself out in the mirror, smiling softly. His outfit seemed appropriate enough. Jin walked downstairs, making sure he didn't walk past the dining area, not wanting to disturb the servants. As he made his way down the stairs, he spotted Namjoon talking to Jimin and Taehyung, both of whom were sitting together at one of the tables in the breakfast room. Jin smiled, heading towards them.
"Good Morning Joon-ah." Jin greeted, approaching them. Namjoon raised his head and smiled softly.
"Good morning Jin." He greeted. Jin nodded in reply, glancing around, taking in the sight. The kitchen staff bustled around busily preparing breakfast. Jin glanced down at the food he was carrying. He smiled slightly.
"Is this what everyone makes?" He questioned.
"Yes. You don't have to eat every single day Jin." Yoongi commented, noticing his brother looking down at the dishes in his hands. Jin gave him a small smile.
