Alexis's pov

Its the first day of school again... school... filled with bitches, nerds, jerks, psychos and drama queens.
As the time was ticking by, I leaned into the ivory vanity, a wooden perimeter that framed a mirror to apply the black mascara over eyelashes.
Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max was playing soothingly out of my phone.
My hair was straight today, and I had chosen a floral, silky dress for myself, with bursts of candlewick yellow and royal blue.
I was pretty unsettled about the first day today. My phone was lighting up with texts, but I found that people reminding me of what today would contain, and even telling me that they were excited to see me -just mad my intestines curl even tighter.
Which would circle back to the mental curling of anxiety inside of my head. Usually, I knew when I was anxious, because the pit of my stomach felt empty-like it dropped far into the depths of an abyss. Or maybe, I just needed breakfast.
I looked at myself in the mirror one more time

What does everyone see in me? I'm just a normal Sophomore blonde... nothing more or less
*************
After a fairly short, bumpy car ride, due to the many potholes in the road -I stopped in front of the Pembrooke High School.
It's changed a little bit since the summer. A little bit
The giant block letters that read "Pembrooke High School", that were perched on top of a roof that sheltered a side entrance three whole letters were missing. The K, the S, and the last O in Pembrooke.
When I shut my car's door and turned around to make my way to the doors, I was shocked to see that the stampede of high school students had suddenly evaporated.
The place was as bare as a desert. The closer I got to the building, the more the details of its condition were revealed to me.
My lips curled in disgust. This place looks like it hasn't been cleaned decades ago, because the whole structure appeared to be literally decaying like rotting wood from the outside in; and you could smell it as well.
I made my way to the door and got in.
After setting up my locker, i heard the ear-bleeding sound of the bell.
I grabbed my history textbook and my bag and headed for the first class of the year... ugh!
-----------------------------
Mr. Torren is an ancient artifact disguised as a history teacher. I'm convinced.
He has to have been teaching here since the 70's, which is when this school was built.
He has salt and pepper gray hair (well, what's left of it), and his back arches forward like a semi-circle I would've had to find the area of in geometry last year.
His eyebrows arch so far up onto his wrinkly, mole-covered forehead, that he kinda resembles the Other Mother from Coraline.
Under his eyes are a deep, patchy, indigo-purple coloration, and you can see his skeletal cheekbones bulge out underneath them.
His lips were in a permanent frown and his beer belly was obvious through his tight-fitted dress shirt.
He always refused to use a cane-until this year, now he finally has one. Mr. Torren is in front of you in the hallway? Give up. It's hopeless. Turn around. Find a detour.
The chairs were literally old and uncomfortable, so i did it the gay style...
I folded my arms, put my legs on the desk and folded them too.
Mr. Torren stared at me, giving me death glares but i didn't care. He knew it was hopeless so he just sighed, rubbed his temples and carried on like i was not even in the class
I loved the effects i had on teachers and even the principal, they couldn't mess with me even if they wanted to
Half-way through the lesson, there was a knock on the door. Mr. Torren opened the door and a platinum blonde haired girl stepped in-

She walked through the classroom and stopped at the empty sit next to me, completely ignoring the teacher... I like her already-
