For the next two days, Cen Pan stayed by An Yu's side.
After An Yu went crazy, she would say crazy things from time to time. Cen Pan hoped to find clues about the mastermind.
After all, only people who had reached a dead end would speak the truth.
Another day passed. At the dining table, Ye Xiao looked at the dejected Cen Pan and chuckled.
"Since she's crazy, she has no research value. Stop fretting over her."
"But I want to pry the secret out of her mouth." Cen Pan, gritting her teeth as she frowned, held the spoon in her mouth.
"Let's send her to the police station." Ye Xiao picked up a piece of fish for her and reminded her lightly, "Since that person made her go crazy, he won't let you find any useful information."
Huh?
Cen Pan was shocked.
Ye Xiao was right.
The doctor confirmed that An Yu went crazy because of the drugs. This meant that someone had drugged her. The real culprit had done something to protect himself.
Even if An Yu knew something, she couldn't say it.
She had wasted three days in vain. What a pity.
"Let's eat." Ye Xiao's low and magnetic voice sounded again.
Cen Pan was no longer conflicted. She buried her head in her food and made up her mind to ask Grandma when she saw her again.
Late at night, the room was silent.
Ye Xiao's breathing was soft and steady. It was obvious that he had fallen asleep.
Cen Pan's eyelids were heavy and her vision went dark. She closed her eyes in a daze and saw a familiar figure.
"Grandma." She dashed to Grandma's side and asked anxiously, "What happened last time? Why couldn't I hear you?"
"Because Grandma can't divulge heavenly secrets."
Grandma smiled kindly and explained.
It turned out that the specters knew very limited things. They could only predict things, such as fate, weather, and so on. The actual form of the calamity was unclear.
Even if they occasionally knew the details, they could not reveal it before it happened.
This was the will of heaven, so it couldn't be defied.
"Grandma was restricted from telling you the details of the calamity. Even though I did, you couldn't hear me."
Cen Pan suddenly understood and nodded helplessly. No wonder there was no sound no matter what Grandma said the last time.
"Does Grandma know who the mastermind is?"
Cen Pan looked at the old woman expectantly.
Since she couldn't avoid the calamity, she would face it head-on. Capturing the person behind An Yu was at least better than being defenseless.
Enemies with unknown backgrounds, or rather, hidden vipers, were the most terrifying.
To Cen Pan's shock, Grandma shook her head again.
"I don't know." She sighed with her old face showing some weariness.
"Pan Pan, your future will not be easy. Be careful. Grandma will do my best to remind you."
After saying that, Grandma gradually disappeared.
Cen Pan woke up and the sky was still dark. She walked to the window and looked outside worriedly.
All along, she had the spirits of her grandmother and other elders by her side, allowing her to avoid disaster. But suddenly, even they could not do anything, and they could not get any information about the person behind the scenes. Cen Pan felt panicked.
An unknown danger was the scariest.
"Uh."
Cen Pan let out a long sigh and was about to turn around when she fell into a warm embrace. A familiar aura came from behind her, making her feel at ease.
It was Ye Xiao.
He hugged her tighter with his face close to her ear as he asked softly.
"What's wrong? Are you so worried that you can't sleep?"
