The next day.
Beast woke up on time.
Mr. Clarence Atkinson and Mr. Len Atkinson had talked to Gem Atkinson for a long time last night, and went to bed late; they hadn't gotten up yet in the morning. Worried the little creature would disturb Uncle Clarence and Uncle Len's nap, Gem took the little creature to the main hall.
In the main hall hung the portraits of the ancestors of the Atkinson Group, and Gem, holding the little creature, recounted the stories of these ancestors to him.
Since he was a child, Gem had been trained to take over the household. He could recite the glorious history of the ancestors by heart. Now, he could naturally recount the life stories of the ancestors without needing to refer to the family history. Coupled with his deep and resonant voice, the Beast listened with eager interest, far from bored.
When very attentive, Beast would even lift his little chubby hand to point at a certain portrait, uttering "ah" and "oh."
