Gem Atkinson and the others returned to Atkinson Manor after one in the morning, and it was not the time to discuss further matters.
Early the next day.
Eleanor Spencer Atkinson went early to pay her respects to Mr. Len and informed him that Nathan Mamet would be visiting Atkinson Manor today.
Mr. Len didn't say much, just held a walnut in his hand and looked up at the gloomy sky, saying, "It seems a storm is approaching."
"Uncle Len, I... what should I do now?"
Seeing the guilt etched on Eleanor Spencer Atkinson's face, Mr. Len said, "Eleanor, do not blame yourself. Logically, this situation did not arise because of you. It's merely the unrequited love of Mrs. Mamet. Even if you had not welcomed the wolf into the house, Gem would have faced his fate eventually. Mrs. Mamet's obsession with Gem was just a matter of time; what is meant to happen will always find a way."
