Dusk fell.
Forsythia Brown and Audrey had a video call.
In half a year's time, the little girl had grown a lot taller, her face no longer as round as before, now more angular. Forsythia Brown said with heartache, "Baby, you've lost weight, it breaks mommy's heart." While she spoke, she caressed the little girl's face through the screen with her hand.
In the video, the little girl's eyes brimmed with tears as she pouted and said, "Forsythia, why did you leave without saying a word?"
"Baby, I'm sorry," Forsythia Brown said guiltily.
The little girl then broke into a smile and said, "It's alright. Daddy said that Forsythia went to serve the country and the people, to be a hero behind the scenes. We should all support Forsythia."
Forsythia Brown felt even more ashamed.
Suddenly, the video showed a face weathered with age—it was Daniel Atkinson. He looked at Forsythia Brown nervously, assessing her from head to toe, before finally saying, "Baby, are you alright?"
