Forsythia Brown twirled the teacup in her hand, her voice faint as she said, "But, Beas, he's no longer with us."
Isla Mamet was taken aback, her eyes once again alight with guilt. She reached out and took hold of Forsythia's hand, saying, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't keep mentioning Beas in front of you—it's essentially like gouging your heart out."
With an understanding smile, Forsythia responded, "I know you're trying to save Gem Atkinson."
"In order to save Beas, I did some research into Mr. Atkinson's virus too—I've gained some insights. I'm aware of the recent newspaper reports that Mr. Atkinson passed out, which must have been due to the virus."
Forsythia nodded, saying, "I won't lie, it is indeed so."
"Then..."
"There's another thing I'd like to ask Dr. Mamet about."
"Go ahead. I'll withhold nothing in my explanation."
