Seven families were in a group, and the fathers from six of those families were already down on the ground.
Audrey looked up at Gem Atkinson, "Dad, what are you dilly-dallying for? Hurry up and get down. If you don't lie down, how can I climb onto your back?"
"My dear..."
Seeming to know what Gem was about to say, Audrey promptly said, "Dad, there's no choice, stop being so picky."
Gem coughed, about to speak when he heard Audrey continue, "In first grade, this event was won by Uncle's help, surely you can't be slower than him, right? If you're saying you're not as good as Uncle, then forget it, I give up on this event."
As Audrey's words fell, Gem executed a perfect, military-like move—hands on the ground as he lay down. An action no non-military person could perform. The audience burst into applause, and Forsythia Brown clapped even louder, cheering, "Good!"
