Josh Levs's words proved prophetic.
The virus inside Gem Atkinson had indeed mutated.
And this mutation came like a storm, overwhelming, as if to sweep everything before it.
Soon, not only was he unable to distinguish red, but all colors appeared only as shades of grey to him.
This was a phenomenon he hadn't encountered during his first treatment.
Josh Levs looked at the lab reports with a heavy expression, finding nothing abnormal there.
"Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere now?" Josh Levs asked.
Gem Atkinson shook his head, "I can walk, move, run, jump."
"Occasionally, then? Do you ever suddenly feel weak?" Josh Levs asked again.
Gem Atkinson thought for a moment, then said, "Yes. The night I first discovered that red looked grey to me, I was preparing to take the little one to sleep. For a moment, I couldn't muster any strength. But it passed quickly."
Josh Levs nodded in understanding and flipped through the blood test reports again.
