"Hello, Teacher Long."
Audrey didn't skip a grade, so Teacher Long is still her homeroom teacher.
Audrey, standing obediently to one side as punishment, scratched her head, then bowed it.
Forsythia Brown glanced at her daughter's messy hair and a fingernail scratch on her small face, clearly stained with blood.
She had a headache; her daughter had definitely been fighting again.
She suddenly felt an immense sense of relief that she and Gem Atkinson had agreed that he wouldn't intervene in Audrey's school affairs. Otherwise, well...
"Audrey, you can go now. I would like to have a word with your mum in privacy."
Audrey pouted as if she wanted to say something. But when Forsythia gave her a stern look, she relented and replied, "Yes, Teacher."
Once Audrey had left the office, Teacher Long motioned for Forsythia to sit and began: "Mrs. Brown, I suppose you know why I called you here."
Forsythia giggled awkwardly before asking, "Did she get into a fight again?"
