Yan's Private Hospital.
Outside the operating room.
Gem Atkinson stood in front of the shiny floor-to-ceiling window, not noticing the cigarette burning down to his fingers.
Across from him, Yigol Foster leaned against the wall, lost in thought, staring blankly at the floor-to-ceiling window. All he knew was that he was puffing on a cigar.
"Please don't smoke in important places."
A nurse came over to remind him, and then she said, "Turn left ahead for a smoking room."
Gem and Yigol hastily extinguished their cigarettes, then waved their arms to disperse the annoying smoke.
Gem hadn't smoked for a long time, but he broke the rule today just to calm his nerves.
After the young nurse left, Yigol asked, "Won't you inform your family?"
"Viola said it'd be better to act as if it never happened than to let them know the pain."
