The Welcoming Garden had already been sealed off, and police tape was everywhere.
Fortunately, there was a dog hole in the garden wall for them to enter. Audrey climbed through the hole with ease. Clive couldn't help but twitch at the corner of his mouth.
"Clive, come on!" Audrey called impatiently from the other side.
The handsome young man was conflicted: climbing through a dog hole was so humiliating.
"Clive, what are you waiting for?" Audrey had often climbed through dog holes to leave the orphanage as a child, so in her mind, there was no shame in it.
Clive coughed and said hesitantly, "Audrey, let's just go back."
"If you don't come in, I'm going on my own."
"Audrey." Clive became even more conflicted. He somewhat regretted indulging Audrey's whim and coming to the Welcoming Garden.
"Clive, I'm leaving. I won't wait for you." With that, Audrey patted her backpack and marched confidently towards the main building.
