Phoenix Mountain.
Forsythia Brown had been here for two days, intending to return to River State this afternoon, but then some parents at the school suddenly announced they wouldn't let their kids go to school when the new semester begins.
The reasons for not continuing school were numerous, but all boil down to one thing: lack of money and labor force.
Looking at the children who long to study and their families' destitute situations, Forsythia decided to stay, committed to persuading these parents.
She had estimated the time well, knowing that by now, Gem Atkinson should have returned to River State and should have met Audrey, she just didn't know how the father and daughter were getting along.
The problem was, there was no signal here.
She couldn't get in contact with them.
To communicate with the outside world, one had to make calls from a landline.
But the nearest landline was in town, at least an hour's drive away.
