Even if they were under the same roof of a villa, Daniel Atkinson always slept in a separate room from Eleanor Spencer Atkinson. This had been the unchanging rule for many years now, whether they were at Atkinson Manor or anywhere else.
Unable to join the trio playing chess, Eleanor returned to her room early.
After refreshing herself, she stood by the window, gazing at the trio continuing their chess game in the courtyard, and couldn't help but recall the scenes from the DNA Paternity Testing Center earlier in the day.
Her son had departed in a resolute manner: "Mom, I need to tell you today – this lifetime, there is only one woman for me, and her name is Forsythia Brown. Only the child she bears could be mine; any child born of any other woman isn't relevant to me. So, whether you believe in your son or those women lurking around, dreaming of marrying your son, is all up to you, Mom."
Admittedly, that day, she had agonized and struggled immensely in the waiting room.
