Forsythia Brown reached out and gently cupped Audrey's face, seeing her baby's eyes brimming with tears of grievance. She felt a dull pain in her heart and asked, "Is that the reason you fought with someone today?"
Audrey nodded, and her tears began rolling down her cheeks.
"Don't cry, baby," Forsythia said, gently wiping away Audrey's tears.
Audrey's voice was choked with sobs. "Ned Mamet is so awful. He found out some news and said my mom is an ex-convict and a bad person. I couldn't stand it, so I fought with him. And then Elijah jumped in to help me. Ned got hurt, and so did Elijah."
Forsythia felt a pang in her heart. As she had expected, this event had hurt her baby. She said, "Baby, you did well in the fight. Because your mom is not a bad person."
"I know mom is not a bad person. Even if you went to jail, it was because you had to complete the task given by my godmother. She said that whatever you did, it was to help her complete her task."
