Chapter 32 - Underestimated

Their family owned an old, black, and dirty cart that had been bought more than twenty years ago. It was usually used to transport matchboxes and other materials for Elderly Lady Qi and the others.

Qi Mianmian smiled and said, "That's too dirty. It's not good enough for my delicious cakes and bread."

Elderly Lady Qi was so angry that she nearly fell over. With a dark expression on her face, she began to reprimand Qi Mianmian. "I think your head has been turned with today's success. I'm telling you, today's business may have been good, but it doesn't mean you'll be as successful tomorrow."

Qi Mianmian immediately turned obstinate. "You promised you wouldn't make comments."

Elderly Lady Qi was speechless.

She was so outraged that she nagged at Qi Mianmian for more than an hour.

At noon, when Qi Mianmian asked Qi Fang to send Elderly Lady Qi half a bowl of braised pork, Elderly Lady Qi nearly went over to beat Qi Mianmian with her stick.

What a wastrel of a granddaughter.

She thought that Qi Mianmian had changed for the better. Instead, it appeared that Qi Mianmian had merely shifted from one extreme to the other.

She had previously promised not to get involved, so Elderly Lady Qi knew she wasn't in a position to beat Qi Mianmian.

However, she was speechless with anger.

Initially, she did not want to eat the braised pork, but Zhao Xiulian had been eyeing it covetously from the side. Elderly Lady Qi took a deep breath and gave Qi Shan, Zhao Xiulian, and Qi Moli a piece each, then poured the rest into her own bowl.

After taking a bite, she was so stunned by the taste that she picked up her bowl and ran to Qi Mianmian's family's kitchen.

Qi Mianmian and her family members were eating in the kitchen. Laid out on the small table were a big bowl of braised pork, a bowl of eggplant salad, a bowl of stir-fried amaranth, and a bowl of pickled green beans.

In addition, there was a bowl of noodles in front of each of them.

When they saw Elderly Lady Qi, everyone except Qi Yang stood up and greeted her, asking her to sit down and eat with them.

Elderly Lady Qi sat down and tasted the other dishes. She stared at Qi Mianmian for a beat, then said, "Did you teach Zhen'er to cook these dishes?"

"Yes. Why?"

"No, it's nothing."

Elderly Lady Qi stood up silently. She did not add any braised pork into her bowl. Instead, she took two chopsticks' worth each of eggplant salad and pickled green beans before leaving.

Sigh, she had underestimated Qi Mianmian.

Since Qi Mianmian was more intelligent than she had imagined, she would no longer "make comments".

After lunch, Qi Mianmian and her family members, except for Qi Tian, who was making clothes as usual, immediately started baking cakes and bread.

Qi Fang was about to go to work, but Qi Mianmian said that she wanted to bake more today, so she could go to several different places to sell their wares the next day. Furthermore, they had to go to the plastic factory later to deliver goods, and wanted to invite him to join them. After doing some calculations, he agreed.

At around five in the afternoon, Qi Mianmian and Qi Fang went to the plastic factory to deliver the cakes.

In addition to the three hundred cakes that had been ordered, they also brought along two hundred cakes and two hundred loaves of bread. They cried their wares as they walked towards their destination.

The plastic factory was only about 800 meters away from their house, and they only sold about twenty items along the way.

Qi Fang was a little worried, but he did not say anything.

The plastic factory owner's wife was named Yu Suli. She was a brisk and straightforward person.

Because this was the time they'd agreed on, she was already waiting at the entrance of the plastic factory.

Qi Mianmian opened a box for her to inspect.

She opened a few more boxes and took a look. With a smile, she took out thirty dollars. "Since you brought more along with you, I'll buy another five dollars' worth of cakes."

She had bought only ten cakes when she placed the order in the morning, and had brought them home. After tasting the cakes, her family said that it was delicious and asked her to buy more for themselves the next day.

Now, the time had arrived for workers to knock off.

The dormitory building for the plastic factory was filled with people.

Those who noticed what was going on all came over to take a look.

Although Yu Suli was straightforward, she was not a busybody.

However, Qi Mianmian's cakes were really delicious. When her friends asked, she immediately heaped compliments onto their cakes.

Qi Mianmian quickly took out some samples for them to try. She began to promote her wares. "This can be kept for seven days. Besides, we're selling everything at a lower price today. Today, these cost eight cents and ten cents each. Tomorrow, these will cost nine cents and eleven cents."
