Chapter 30 - JACK THE RIPPER (AC Syndicate) vs ARYA STARK (GOT Season 8): Info

Jack The Ripper

Jack (c. 1860 – 1888), formerly known as Jack the Lad during his youth, and widely feared under the alias "Jack the Ripper", was a member of the British Brotherhood of Assassins, active in the Whitechapel district of London. Disillusioned with Jacob Frye's leadership and view of the Creed, Jack decided to overthrow his mentor and tried to seize control of the Brotherhood during the 1880s. Jack successfully usurped control of the Rooks, crippling Frye's influence in the city, and began to recruit new followers to help him enforce his own ruthless outlook of the Assassin's Creed.

In 1888, Jack became infamous for a series of gruesome murders of women through Whitechapel; in reality, these women were fellow Assassins disguised as prostitutes who had been attempting to stop his spiral of madness. These murders, in conjunction with Jack's control over London's criminal enterprise, threatened the discreet reputation and very existence of the Assassins in London. He soon fought and defeated his former mentor and subsequently imprisoned him, though Jack was himself eventually defeated and killed by Jacob's sister, Evie, upon her return to London from India.

Arya Stark

Princess Arya Stark is the third child and second daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and his wife, Lady Catelyn Stark. She is the sister of the incumbent Westerosi monarchs, Sansa, Queen in the North, and Brandon, King of the Andals and the First Men. After narrowly escaping the persecution of House Stark by House Lannister, Arya is trained as a Faceless Man at the House of Black and White in Braavos, using her abilities to avenge her family.

Upon her return to Westeros, she exacts retribution for the Red Wedding by exterminating the Frey male line. Returning to Winterfell, Arya initially finds herself at odds with Sansa due to the naïvety of her youth and perceived lack of support for their "half-brother", Jon Snow, King in the North. However, their tumultuous relationship is discovered to be the result of Petyr Baelish's manipulation, and the two mend their sisterhood following his execution for his crimes against House Stark. Arya then plays a significant role in the Great War, effectively ending the conflict through her killing of the Night King during the Battle of Winterfell. Afterwards, Arya rides south with Sandor Clegane to kill Cersei Lannister, not intent on returning to Winterfell. She arrives at King's Landing as it is being destroyed by Daenerys Targaryen.

Sandor convinces Arya to abandon her quest for vengeance and Arya tries to help the smallfolk survive the destruction of King's Landing, though she fails. Weeks later, following Daenerys's assassination to stop her further destruction, Arya is part of the great council that decides the future of Westeros, during which Arya's younger brother Bran is chosen as king. After bidding farewell to her siblings, Arya decides to leave Westeros and sail west to discover what lies beyond where the maps of the known world end.

ARYA STARK (GOT Season 8)

Powers and Abilities

Disguise: Arya can hide her true physical appearance under a disguise, due to her training with the Faceless Men. She has learned to control this power quite well, as shown in TV series, this skill shows no magical trait, however, being depicted as simply wearing a dead person's face. Regardless of the version, Arya learns to handle this technique, which will later work out in her favor, such as when she assassinates Meryn Trant in the Season 5 finale and later Walder Frey in the Season 6 finale in Game of Thrones.

Swordsmanship: Unlike little girls of her social status, Arya learned to fight with a sword and has above-average swordplay skills, being trained by Syrio Forrel in the art of the Braavosi Water Dance. Arya showed her skills mainly during Amory Lorch's attack on Yoren's recruit caravan when she killed several Lannister soldiers.

Archery Skills: Arya is shown to be fairly skilled with a bow. In the TV series, she is able to out-shoot Bran, losing an arrow at the target while farther than him.

Assassin Skills: Her Faceless Men training has provided Arya with strong assassin qualities, such as being able to detect lies of the others or depict ingredients, potions, herbs and poisons.

Eye-Less Combat: Thanks to her temporary blindness and combat training, Arya has arguably developed stronger senses than normal humans, to the point that she can move and fight in the dark. This ability is shown mainly in the TV series and, in the eighth episode of the sixth season, Arya takes advantage of this new skill and kills the Waif in the darkness of her hideout.

Multilingual: Arya is fluent in the Common Tongue (English) and Braavosi. She has also shown basic knowledge of High Valyrian.

FEATS

In Season 3, While traveling with the Brotherhood Without Banners, Arya once again shows some good accuracy with a bow. After each hit, Arya names the person she "killed" with it: Joffrey, Cersei and Ilyn Payne (respectively). She then tells Anguy that she hit right where she wanted to.

In Season 5, After traveling to the House of Black and White and beginning her training with the Faceless Men, Arya loses her eyesight. The Waif trains her to fight without seeing, and after taking a few beatdowns, Arya matches and outperforms the Waif.

In Season 5, After being stabbed multiple times by the Waif, she manages to outrun the assassin, even jumping off of a second story balcony. Arya lures the Waif to the House of Black and White and kills her in the darkness with Needle.

In Season 7, After returning to Winterfell, Arya spars with Brienne and shows some very impressive skill and agility. Brienne arguably did have a slight edge in that "stalemate", as she was holding back in that training session. Still, a very solid showing for Arya.

In Season 8, During the final battle of Winterfell, after sneaking past the White Walkers and leaping from the shadows, Arya attempts to kill the Night King. After he predicts her attack and grabs her, she uses a clever trick to take him by surprise and stab him with her Valyrian Steel Dagger.
