The next week and a half passed in a blur. They got into a pattern of waking up, eating breakfast on the boat, inspecting the construction sites, eating lunch on the boat, inspecting some more, then eating a late dinner on the mainland before going to bed.
Vincent flew Maya around until he was able to get the materials he needed to modify her wheelchair then she was able to use the controls herself. She was bummed to discover he had limited the speed and height settings so she wouldn't go overboard but it wasn't much more disappointing than not being able to control the drones had been.
She stuck her tongue out at him and called him a worrywart, which he shrugged off. Apparently he didn't care what she thought as long as there weren't any more accidents.
Knowing his birthday was coming up, she ordered a cake from a bakery that she could pick up on the way to the boat the morning of. She got a small bow to stick to the present she had gotten for him too.
