Javier lay down on the white sofa in his room still in the hospital. His body felt quite tired today, but his mind was more tired.
Don't know how long he has been like this. It feels like there is always a burden he carries on his shoulders. It feels so heavy, that sometimes he can't carry it anymore.
He closed his eyes for a moment. Giving up all his tiredness for a moment. Before someone knocked on the door to his room, he immediately corrected his position.
"Come in," he said in a deep voice.
Howard came in hastily, his eyes flashing intense anxiety.
"What's wrong?" said Javier understanding the situation.
"Miss Helena, she's on the roof. Sitting on the edge of this building," Howard said frantically.
Hearing that Javier immediately stood up. He then rushed up to the top. He didn't even use the elevator, directly used the emergency stairs. He even rushed to the door on the roof, there already gathered several people who seemed to be watching Helena.
"How did this happen?" said Javier with a panicked face.
"We didn't know either. Suddenly when I came back to her room. Miss Helena was gone. She even pulled her IV by force. Luckily because of her dripping blood, we could tell she was upstairs. When we arrived, she was already sitting on the floor. There, until now she has come in and sat down. But we afraid approach her now, fearing she will do something untoward," said the Doctor.
Javier slightly opened the roof door. He saw 'Helena' was sitting there. The wind was blowing very hard. Blowing her hair that fell beautifully. Slowly he dared himself to approach Helena, slowly until Helena even didn't notice.
Javier looked at Helena who turned pale again. Her eyes blankly stared ahead and her legs were moved up and down, just like a child enjoying sitting on a bench. She seemed to feel very comfortable sitting on top of such a high building. Enjoying the wind that was getting more and more piercing into his pores.
Javier looked at Helena's left hand which was covered in blood. It seemed like the blood had dried up. She was not bothered by Javier's arrival beside her. She just kept staring straight at him with his beautiful empty eyes.
Javier slowly sat beside her. Sitting as close to her as possible but trying to not disturb Helena either. They were just silent. Javier tried to wait. Looking for the right time to talk to her. trying to understand Helena's current condition. But apparently, he began to be hypnotized by the quiet night atmosphere. Dissolved with loneliness that evoked all memories, only the rumbling of the wind blew.
"Don't jump," Javier said slowly to Helena.
"I'm not going to jump," Helena said in her soft voice.
Javier was silent. This was the first time he had heard the voice of the woman he named Helena, her voice was so soft that it was lulling.
"What is your problem that you decided to commit suicide by jumping into the sea in a wedding dress?" Javier asked. This is a question that has been in his head for two years. Actually this question he wanted to ask the real Helena, but he took it out on this woman.
"If I want to kill myself, I will not choose this way by throwing myself into the sea. If I want to kill myself, I just jump from here and will die instantly," said Helena with sadness and feeling.
She never wanted to die, but those who wanted her dead. She wanted to live even though life was never fair to her.
"Then what's your problem to end there?" Javier said. He wasn't a talkative person, but for some reason, he was so curious right now.
The woman look at Javier. Her smile was so full of desperation. Javier looked into her eyes that were hypnotizing but also looked so empty. Javier was caught in her gaze that aroused a feeling he couldn't explain, tears just flowed down her white cheeks.
"They call me Eira," said the girl.
Javier frowned.
"I don't know my real name. I don't remember, but they called me Eira since I was separated from my parents," Eira said again.
Javier was just silent, unresponsive, trying to be a good listener and wanting Eira to feel comfortable because after all, they were now sitting on the edge of a ten-story building.
"I am Princess Taaffeite," said Eira looking at Javier.
Javier couldn't seem to hide his shock.
"What? You are …." said Javier.
"I'm Princess Taafaite"
Javier still couldn't believe what he was hearing, A Taaffeite Princess? The wind was blowing harder and harder, making Javier and Eira a little nervous up there.
*****
In the past, there was a Prince who fell in love with an ordinary girl. But the girl was killed by the kingdom very sadistically. Because of that, the Prince decided to draw a sword in his heart, but before he committed suicide, he said his curse to the princes after him. The Princes who still marry noblewomen, then bad luck will befall them.
But looking for women from the common people who are suitable for marriage to the prince is not an easy thing. They are not comparable to noblewomen who have been educated since childhood. So the kingdom secretly kidnaps little girls who have the potential for them to become educated. Someone who deserves to be a princess. They call the girl, Princess Taaffeite, which is taken from one of the rarest stones in the world.
Javier looked deeply at Eira. Seeing her near-perfect beauty. If what she said was true, then she was indeed fit to be a Taaffeite Princess.
"I thought that story about Taaffeite Princess was just a fairy tale," said Javier in disbelief.
"My mother used to love telling that story. I didn't know I would feel it myself," said Eira, she turned her face back to the city lights, looking both beautiful and terrifying.
Eira seemed to notice the path under her feet. She hugged herself, feeling the wind becoming more and more like tiny needles pricking.
Javier noticed. he knew and took off his coat then placed it on Eira's body. He stood up slowly, quite fidgeting from his position. When he had stood up properly, he stretched out his hand.
"I think you've had enough tonight. Why don't you go back to your room," said Javier couldn't help but care about this woman, even though he's usually the least empathetic guy.
Eira looked at Javier who was still holding out his hand. She smiled slightly, making all hearts melt with her beauty. Javier pulled Eira so that she could stand up properly.
As soon as Eira stood in a safe place. The doctors and nurses who had been waiting for them immediately arrived. They immediately brought a wheelchair, trying to keep Eira from doing anything wrong again. Eira sat in her wheelchair, she looked at Javier for a while.
"Thank you sir for helping me," said Eira.
"My name is Javier, just call me Javier," said Javier, tugging at the corners of his lips.
Eira didn't answer, she just smiled a little then the doctors took her away.
Javier lived there alone, Howard approached him.
"Sir, how are you?" Howard said, bringing the coat he was wearing to Eira before.
"Okay," Javier said casually. He put the coat back on. The warmth from Eira's body still enveloped the coat, even the smell of her body could be smelled.
"The doctor will give her an anesthetic injection. They are afraid that Miss Helena will do something worse later, she may be asleep by now," Howard told Eira's condition.
Javier was just silent. He didn't respond. He just walked in, then headed to Eira's room.
He entered and saw that Eira had been given an anesthetic. She was still half-conscious, seeing her condition, Javier couldn't even bear it.
"Enough, She won't do anything stupid. Leave us," said Javier.
The doctor and nurse looked at each other but didn't say anything, they then left them.
"Don't kill me! please let me live!" The words came out of Eira's half-conscious mouth, making Javier speechless. Tears running through his hair, his sad face holding it all in, very hurt.
"Who wants to kill you?" Javier said pitifully.
"Josh... Please let me go!" said Eira very angry. Horror flashed across his face.
Javier continued to stare at Eira's raving face, she soon calmed down. It seemed like the drugs had taken over her but tears were still visible in the corners of his eyes, Javier continued to watch Eira's face. Javier didn't know what had happened to him. For the first time in two years he felt so touched. That he felt like helping this woman. Maybe because they both felt a deep sadness. Javier could feel his sadness.
"No one's going to hurt you anymore, I'm right here," Javier said again. He wiped Eira's tears.
Javier called Howard.
"Prepare all Miss Helena's needs, I want her treatment to be transferred to my house," said Javier ordered.
"Yes sir," Assistant Howard said.
Javier smiled, then looked at Eira again who had fallen asleep so calmly like an angel. Javier then left her.
