Chapter 1 - Can't a guy sleep without being Transmigrated?

'Ah! What the hell! I coulda swore I was just sleeping in my bed... So what's with the cold, wet feeling?' Parker tried to open his eyes, but nothing happened no matter how he tried.

Suddenly, a sharp flash of pain went throughout his body as he felt it was being reconstructed from the inside out.

At the moment even thinking hurt for him to attempt. He felt a small part of himself regain control as he clenched his teeth due to the pain.

This scenario felt extremely familiar, like it had described to him with precise detail. As the pain slowly washed away he slouched down, before finally opening his eyes which had a glint confusion and realization.

As he looked around, Parker noticed that he was in a small room which had been thoroughly thrashed. If his intuition was correct it was probably him that did this.

He had tried to go through the natural progress of evolving to a higher state of being and becoming an Uncommon Existence Identity.

It seemed as though the original host died in the process and somehow he took his place.

If the pain subsided, that means he must've finished the process and evolved, right?

Recalling something, he thought of a phrase in his head not bothering to say it out loud.

'Personal Info'.

His bet paid off, and a translucent screen with white text appeared before him.

" Name: Parker Wells[Icarus]

Species: Lesser Demon[Common Existence Identity]

Occupation: Summoner{Can be Changed.}

Level : 15

Status: Weak and Malnourished

Energy: 2,000 "

It was quite beautiful, but he was a little distressed. There were multiple things that should have been there that weren't. But it was still better than knowing nothing.

What shocked him more is the fact that it said, 'Common Existence Identity' and not Uncommon.

If the original host of this body had died from the backlash of evolution, then what was the point of all that pain when he woke up!

'Shit, this is just my luck. To think I'd actually wake up in the game of a novel I read as a name I actually recognize.' Parker's tail swayed behind him as he rubbed his one of his two goat like horns. They were only stubs right now, but if he'd evolved properly they would be longer.

He sighed as he checked his Info, scanning through it his eyes widened slightly. Even though the screen told him he was a 'CEI' he had the Energy of an Uncommon one.

That was besides the point, first of all he needed to gather all of the information from the Novel that he remembered. With the large amount of novels he read, for some reason he only remembered bits and pieces of this one. It felt like a lot of his memories of his past life were missing.

The title of the novel was 'Path to Greatness'(I'm sorry if there's an actual Novel with this title, but this is just a fake one made for the Story), where the pitifully weak MC who by chance picked up of a popular VR game called 'Stream' became one of its best players.

In the version of Earth from the Novel, this game was revolutionary. And the company behind it 'P.O.A.' was unfathomable and mysterious. But none of that really mattered to the players who saw the potential in a game as big as this.

No one knew how they had done it, but many rival companies were jealous. The game was practically another Universe! And all the characters had their own backgrounds and personalities that the players could personally influence.

Players would basically decide the fate of the Universe along side the NPCs as they grew stronger.

In the world of the Novel, Earth had around 100 billion people. And Stream at its peak had around 8 billion players constantly. With how large the game was and how adventurous players were. They slowly but surely started causing chaos throughout Stream.

Players were classified as one of the Rare 'Special Existence Identities'. With theirs being known as The 'Undying Existence Indetities'.

Even one person that was truly undying would be threatening, but think about billions.

Since he was a Lesser Demon, he could only guess that he was on Planet 'Crimson Dust'. It was one of the many starting planets players would randomly be given. And the starting point of the MC.

Tapping his sharp claws against the wooden floor of the room as he lifted his foot up and back down. He remembered something and looked at a mostly intact dresser that was upside down.

Parker opened one of the drawers and found the thing he was looking for. It was a necklace with a blood like pendant hanging from it.

Holding it with his claws some information about the info suddenly popped up in his face.

" Icarus's Pendant[Rare]

- Moderately Increases the strength of Demonic Powers. "

This was an Item the MC had gotten from a Special Quest given by Prenon. The brother of Icarus, which was the only reason he'd recognized the name in brackets next to his own.

Since the MC had started on planet Crimson Dust. They had naturally started off as a Demon as well, that was one of the specialties of Stream.

Players weren't restricted and could practically be any race from this Universe if they started off in the right place from the 'Random Start' every player was given.

Although this item was very useful to the Actual Protagonist. Parker didn't see anything wrong with him taking it for himself.

After all, they had Plot Armor anyways. Something he could only hope for in his wildest dreams.

His first priority would probably be to assess his situation and see if he could grow strong enough to survive in this world.

He looked outside the window and was... surprised? Even though he'd read the novel and knew that entire planet was primarily composed of shades of red he'd thought it was just a joke or an exaggeration.

It looked like a kid dropped their toy from McDonald's in Ketchup!

He sighed and closed the window before rubbing his temples for a second.

Although this wasn't his body, it felt very natural like he'd lived in it since birth.

He took a second to stretch his muscles which felt rather refined. Before stepping out of the room into one that seemed to be in good condition.

There was a set of armor against the wall that looked like it was for him. But it seemed more like a Knights Armor than that of a Summoner's. But he knew that this was Icarus's or 'his'.

In the story Prenon, who was a somewhat important character to the story of this planet and a 'Rare Existence Identity' had worn this Armor in his brother's honor.

'If I was originally supposed to be dead in this world, how will things progress now that I'm here?' He shook his head for a moment.

Without a clear set in his mind just yet besides 'get more powerful so you don't fucking die'. He was a little lost on where to go next. Should he attempt to take the opportunities of the MC. Or should he be patient and slowly progress.

Actually, that thought made him ask himself something. 'Are the players even here?'.

He was going to try and find answers before a voice resounded in his head that wasn't his own.

" Processing... Done! Launching Stream. We welcome you all to a world like none other, have fun and break a leg! "

'Well, shit.'
