Chapter 1 - Void

Assuming that you're one o the few to be lucky enough to have met or heard of Cordelia before she died, I'm gonna say that you're here for the continuation, the fabled part two.

Unfortunately that would require an ability I don't have.

I can't raise the dead you see.

No one can.

No... let me clarify, it's probably better if I say that no human can.

Wheather you're a believer of the great beyond or even God,whatever your religion if you have one, I think that this is something we both can agree on.

Cordelia is dead.

How her... partner survived his ordeal is simply a question of the cube...

The tesseract, the eternal book, the whispering box, satan's cage or whatever you want to call it, wanted him and he had no choice but to surrender himself to it.

The previous host it had, slaughtered so many people through its 'subtle' prodding causing many others to go mad in the process.

So imagine for a moment.

What happened to Cordelia's partner?

Curious right?

He went poof.

No to be more precise, he disappeared into the night.

Pulled his IV and left the hospital, without even collecting his clothes mind you.

Whether of the box's will or his own, no one knows.

Well...

Now that the complicated stuff is out of the way I'd like you to focus on an event that happened as a result of the cube's presence.

Weather this was before or after Cordelia, I'll leave that for you to decide.

Just, approach what you're about to read with.... all guards up. Your skepticism especially.

Now as you proceed you'll understand what I mean and why I've told you to be wary of it all, now continue.

"Sir. Will it be just you or do you have company?" The receptionist probed.

She had asked me this before and was now subtly hinting at the people behind me who stood in line. My mind had wondered for a moment and now it was quite obvious she was starting to get mildly irritated.

"Ah yes just me." I had sent in my luggage and now only had my backpack slung over my shoulder.

The lady looked me over before typing something in the system and handing me my passport.

It was clear she wanted to say something to me but was trying her darnedest to hold herself back.

"Yes?" I took my passport checking it before returning it to my rear pocket.

Her bright red lipstick covered lips hinted at a smile which grew.

"Has anyone ever told you that you look like that famous actor with brown hair who did that movie heartless?"

I laughed shyly "Gosh, you think so?"

She nodded "of course! You're very handsome!"

I leaned forward motioning her to do the same and as she did i grabbed her by the throat smiling my best smile as I did.

The exquisite sounds she made as she struggled to breath were something I'd usually relish however this time, this woman had a role to play and her dying wasn't it.

Someone from behind me grabbed my shoulder in an attempt to pull me back saving the poor woman. Unfortunately for him all It took was me putting my switchblade between his ribs for him to let go.

A scream from behind and startled gasps.

Returning my attention to the lady before me I released just enough so she could take a bit of air.

"Three large bombs and some smaller ones strategically placed in the airport. Get me to the main security holding room and i'll deactivate the bombs."

She looked at me wide eyed.

"My men have already put motion sensors on the entrances. Anyone tries to leave and boom!" she yelped as I said this releasing her. "Get your head-security guy and don't bother calling police because someone here already did that." i pulled my concealed pistol and shot the woman who had her cell in hand.

She fell like a log with that hole in her head, ha!

"Ok now where were we?"

Oh!

The woman I had just shot wasn't an employee which was great news.

The bad part was the now panicking people.

Slowly and calmly I took the small mic the lady at the desk had and tapped it twice making sure it was on before, "Everyone, stop." the people all froze in place like they had all turned to ice.

They turned to look slowly.

"Please don't misunderstand, I don't intend to hurt any more people here today granted that I get what I came for." I sighed releasing the built up anticipation that I'd have to shoot another one of them.

"Now, this should only take a few minutes, after which you'll be able to return to your daily lives." the short cable of the small desktop microphone had extended all that it could. "if you would take a look at the pillars, stairs and entrances, you'll notice the pretty rectangular devices with flashing red lights."

Some of them gasped loudly, "Yes, its as you've probably guessed those are armed bombs with proximity sensors. so to avoid anyone else getting hurt I'd very much appreciate it if you'd just kindly sit on the floor and if you would, please avoid any heroics, I don't particularly have a fondness of heroes."

They all complied slowly and a second later my pistol was once again concealed and a smile returned to my face.

I breathed out and inhaled sharpening my resolve and steeling my nerves.

A subtle hint reminded me of my purpose and it's urgency.

"You." i stated to the receptionist with as much politeness as I could. Not a shred of ill intention in my voice even though the many people here probably thought otherwise.

I genuinely had a fondness for the lady and even now it was all i could do to stop myself from enjoying her, carnally.

Don't misunderstand.

These desires weren't my own.

Not by a long shot.

However I couldnt very well deny them either, at least, not so easily.

The intent is there though. That counts for something right?

The woman had stood up again, fear had wet her small skirt and made a small puddle on the floor where she stood.

This honestly excited me to no end.

Strong desires pulling me almost physically.

If I could just touch her.

Undress her..

Cut her…

Feel her warmth leak though my fingers.

Taste it…

I caught myself reaching for my switchblade and stopped myself.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a pervert as I said earlier these feelings aren't mine.

It sounds crazy I know.

But this is the truth. Well it's my truth but honestly that probably won't convince you since truth is ultimately relative. Similar to how rumors indisputable or unprovable to the group is in fact the truth even if you know it's false.

My other hand had already torn a part of her clothes.

Luckily I'd caught myself.

I slowly calmed my shaky breathing.

"You, just do what I asked and hurry!"

She had tears which ruined her make up.

——————————————————————-

Soon enough I had been brought to the holding room. And two people sat before me one in tactical body armor an empty holster on his side.

A storm trashed around inside my head.

The intense pain caused a small trickle of blood to leak from my nose.

The cause of the pain the turbulent mix of emotions fighting for dominance in my mind.

-that woman looked tasty-

"No."

"Sir, Are you ok?" The other person was the head of security for the airport. He wore a navy-blue suit which seemed almost green under the white florescent lights.

He hinted at my nose, but it's not as if I hadn't noticed.

I wiped it with the back of my hand.

"What did you say before?" I asked as I placed my switchblade on the small table between us before placing the Gun next to it.

"I-," My upheld hand stopped him before pointing to the guy in body armor. "I asked you didn't I?"

"T-the girl with the cube had a heart attack and died when we asked her what her name was. this surprised everyone since she seemed fine before and its not like we didn't try to save her... Her body is now St. Cornell's morgue and I've written the address there." he slowly slid the paper he wrote on towards me over the smooth surface of the white polished table.

I exhaled.

-See?-

-They, sTOle it,-

-They even kILlEd me when I refused.-

-You know... what to do dont you?-

-Don't refuse me.-
