Qui-Gon and Kenobi were curious as to how she knew their names, but they had more important things to discuss with her before that.
"Well Lady Yona as you know our names already and who we are I shall get right to the point" Said Qui-Gon
"The Republic have sent us as Envoy's to meet with the leader of this Fleet above the planet of Zakuul that appears to be enemies with the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium since we have never seen or heard of whom this fleet belongs to
And if by chance this fleet does belong to a new race then the Republic want to establish a friendly First contact with them and help to resolve the issue of the occupation Zakuul" Said Qui-Gon
Hearing this Yona tried to keep a friendly face since all of a sudden now that the war of Zakuul was coming to an end the Republic want's to send Envoys to establish friendly first contact and resolve the issue of the planet's Occupation by Terran forces.
Surely the Republic doesn't think that they can still intervene in the planet's affairs even after they didn't send any aid before.
To Yona this felt like a slap in her Master's face and that was something that she wouldn't stand for. But she must also keep her calm composure since this is a diplomatic meeting.
"Well Master Jedi I'm afraid the Republic has no influence or authority out here therefore the issue of the occupation of Zakuul will be left up to the people of Zakuul and his Majesty and yes we are a new Empire in the Galaxy, but I can't reveal too much information about us" Responded Yona while maintaining her smile
Both Kenobi and Qui-Gon were surprised by this response since what she says is all true as the Republic even now is struggling to maintain its own Government and with the Zakuul crises the people have begun to see that the Republic doesn't stand for Peace not want to protect others anymore.
While this didn't affect the Jedi that much the High council was still worried about the future of the Republic since even now it was unclear what would become of it.
Qui-Gon and Kenobi both knew the circumstances that the Republic was in and knew that it held no Authority out here and the only reason the Jedi Order accepted was to make peaceful First Contact with a new Space faring Empire.
"We know that the Republic holds no Authority out here in Wild Space so instead let's forget about that and focus on the first contact situation" Said Qui-Gon
"The Republic wants to establish a good relation with you and your Emperor but the Jedi Order only wants to know what you plan on doing with the people of Zakuul after liberating them" Asked Qui-Gon
"The people of Zakuul shall retain some sort of Independence but shall be under his Majesty's control preventing outside powers from intervening in the planet's affairs so the Jedi Order has nothing to worry about as we won't be enslaving the people nor killing innocent's, so you can rest easy knowing that" Responded Yona
Qui-Gon tried to read Yona and could feel that she wasn't lying but couldn't tell whether she was telling the truth.
He also didn't feel any dark side power coming from her, so he decided to trust his intuition and believe her.
"Okay well now that the Jedi Order suspicions are out of the way now we can get back to dealing with the Republic issues" Said Qui-Gon
Kenobi felt that she wasn't lying either, so he didn't say anything and let his Former Master take the lead in negotiations since he hates politics.
"Since this is a first contact scenario then the Republic would like to invite a representative of your faction to Coruscant to answer to the Senate about your reasoning for occupying Zakuul....."
Yona had stood up from her seat" Master Jedi I think these talks are over so if you would please go back to your ship and tell your senate that we don't answer to them and inform the Jedi Order that there are some people in the Galaxy who they don't want to anger" said Yona
Qui-Gon and Kenobi stood up silently before bowing slightly to Yona "Thank you for at least hearing us out Lady Yona" Said Qui-Gon as they were escorted back to the hanger.
Qui-Gon wasn't going to argue with or try to press the issue since in this dire time of chaos what the Republic needs is friends and not more enemies and by the Senate trying to exert their authority over the planet of Zakuul would only create more enemies than they need.
And that potential enemy they know nothing about.
But what Qui-Gon didn't know was that Emperor Palpatine had the senate under his wing and this whole plot was set up by him to destabilize the Republic even further. Although the invasion of Zakuul wasn't part of his plans it certainly opened up many more opportunities for him.
He had yet to play all of his cards since he would need a couple of more years to build his Imperial fleet and even more to secretly train more Sith.
As for the Republic Every Month that passes the situation in the Republic gets even worse. Politics and corruption will be the biggest downfall of the republic.
