Whatever wealthy individual issued the mission was less important than actual information about the planet, and the mission itself, when it came down to getting it done.
To that extent, 6 was luckier than he was with the spider's egg. Information about the alchemy world he was heading into was well documented, and easy to access. 6 could study the history of the mad alchemist, the world itself, and all of the alchemical development the world had been through, both before the alchemist wrecked his havoc, and after.
The mad alchemist was an esteemed scholar, a leader in the field of alchemy, and he was the de facto mayor of one of the largest cities in their world. The alchemy world itself had no true leaders, no presidents or mayors, no land owners or anything of the sort.
Instead, their societal standing was based upon the respect and trust of others. Most cities had no singular individual who was atop the entire city, who was respected by almost all, but there were special cases of incredibly gifted individuals gaining this type of position, often by virtue of their own actions, and not their intent.
Their society was one that was strongly based upon mutual trust, and alchemy laid at the heart of it all. Every single person on the planet studied alchemical to some extent, the same as kids in elementary school studied math. It was a basic subject to them.
The mad alchemist's gift, the one that made him so respected and trusted, was similarly based in alchemy. He was considered a savant in the field of creation, using alchemy to make new, undiscovered things.
This branched out to all kinds of different things, and it seemed the mad alchemist had no limit. This was long before he went mad of course, and many of his creations would go on to benefit the world and all of its people.
The alchemist dipped his hands into all types of fields, reaching toward transportation, household appliances, toys for children, entertainment for people of all ages, anything he could get his hands upon.
He brushed his hands upon medicine, creating miracle drugs and fast acting cures for all kinds of diseases. An adventurer who visited the world prior to the alchemist going mad had the opportunity to get his hands on some of these cures, and they even reached the level of intermediate medicines.
From a low level planet that hadn't even borne a soul yet, an intermediate leveled anything would be shocking, much less something like medicine, which is considered more valuable than gold.
But from the day he went mad, everything about the man changed.
No one knew what caused this change, but the results were cataclysmic. It was like something came over him, drove him to take every good thing he had ever done, and do an even greater amount of terrible.
First, he poisoned hundreds of people, under the guise of testing a new drug. This drug was supposed to be a performance booster, and it was very successful. But 2 weeks after taking the pill, the user would drop dead, albeit painlessly.
Across the city, everyone who had lost loved ones and friends looked to the alchemist for answers. This kind of thing should have been tested much more before being spread out for such a large trial, but when they came to him for answers, he was gone, and his assistant was missing as well.
No one knew what happened, but there was all kinds of gossip. Some said that the assistant betrayed the alchemist, and others said that the alchemist went crazy and kidnapped the assistant.
Months later, massive areas in the city began dissolving, melting and forming giant sinkholes. Thousands died due to this, as over 60% of the city was destroyed.
Those that survived this were forced to leave the city, as no one knew if the sinkholes would continue forming.
The cause of these sinkholes were only discovered after the mad alchemist was spotted in every city that the sinkholes formed in, as the spread across the world, destroying dozens of cities.
It was at this point that the alchemist became a wanted fugitive across the entire planet.
But he didn't stop there.
He began kidnapping anyone that he could get his hands on, performing all kinds of cruel experiments on them, torturing them until they were useless to his experiments. This was the first time anyone reported about how insane the alchemist had become.
When he abandoned his test subjects, if they were still alive, they would often spend their final days looking for help, begging anyone they could find to save their life.
In some rare cases, it was possible. The test subjects lived, and the stories of the mad alchemist first reached the ears of the people of the world. He had gone completely insane. He would divide his kidnapped test subjects into groups, spend days torturing them, and then shuffle the groups up.
Some test subjects would turn into mindless monsters, and they would attack their fellow test subjects when the groups were shuffled.
Others would lose the ability to move, turning into little more than living corpses, aware of their surroundings but unable to interact with them.
But by the end of these tests, every single kidnapped test subject will have been subjected to every test he had on hand, sometimes more than once.
Thanks to these rare survivors, a few of the mad alchemists labs were uncovered, though they were long since abandoned by the time they were found.
The three abandoned labs found scattered across the world were horrific, covered in terrifying marks upon the malls, long decayed bodies on the floor, and all manners of torture devices.
Every single lab discovered up to this point had one thing in common, aside from the terrible acts that went on within them. They all possessed a single recording, played on a loop, in every room.
Though the recording was different in all three labs, they always had the same theme.
They were all cartoon versions of the mad alchemist, a caricaturized version of him, and they followed his actions in a sort of slapstick comedy style, detailing what would have been horrible acts had they not been displayed in such a cartoon-ized comedic manner.
The first one discovered was a younger version of the mad scientist, in the city he was born and raised in. This one was also the only recording that didn't contain much cartoon-ized violence. Rather, it was the alchemist living his day to day life, helping others and being kind, but every time no one was looking at the alchemist, he would put on a stereotypical evil smile and rub his hands together.
The end of this recording was the scientist putting a tray of pills into an oven, and when he pulled them out of the oven, a cloud of green smoke billowed out of the pills in the shape of a skull and crossbones, before the alchemist fanned away the green smoke and sprayed them with a bottle that had 'Strawberry-scented' written on it.
This was a cartoon retelling of his very first act as the alchemical madman, the time he poisoned people across his home town.
No one knew why he made this cartoon, and what purpose it served by playing on repeat, but the following two recording were similar.
The second one to be found showed the alchemist at a much older age, his hair now turning grey. In the recording, he was luring people away, or trapping entire families inside of large cages, with bars large enough to walk directly out of. Of course, as it was a cartoon, it could be assumed that they would never actually walk out of the bars.
It made it look like the alchemist kidnapping his test subjects was just a goofy, laughing matter, like they were all just playing around. But most, if not all, of the test subjects that it showed him kidnapping in this recording would likely have already died gruesome deaths by the time this cartoon was made.
The third and final recording found was of the alchemist brewing all kinds of potions in large vats, at points throwing animals and even people into the vats as ingredients for the potions. It was unclear of what these large vats were making, or what they were for, but this was the last recording uncovered an no one knew what came next.
The was also the first recording in which the alchemist began looking like something other than human. In addition, his work was assisted by all manners of alchemical beasts, a practice which was banned on the entire world years ago.
Details of alchemical beasts were even obscured and hidden, and most people did not even knew they were possible. It was unknown how he created them, and how he seemingly perfected them.
It was worth noting that Palon, the wealthy individual who issued this mission, was extremely interested in seeing the rest of these cartoons, if they existed.
As far as the scientists actual actions in the world, after his string of kidnapping and test subjects, which lasted for many many years, he did commit many other terrible acts.
He destroyed more cities, caused earthquakes that wiped out huge areas, and much more. It reached the point that whenever something terrible took place, the first thing people did was try to uncover whether or the the alchemist was involved.
And usually, he was.
