I ran out of the main house and headed towards the garages. I needed to get all the people who would be needed for the meeting to the house, but Yaromir was in-charge of that, so I needed to find him fast.
As I ran towards the garage, I could see Borislav and Yaromir talking about something. As I ran up, Yaromir turned around and Borislav moved to the side so that he could see me. They both were just looking as I ran up, "Hey, Stefan is letting us plan out the mission, can you grab at least the Gaz drivers and the scrappers and send them to the main house, we need to figure out how we will be running this."
Yaromir was standing there, contemplating what I had just said for a second, "Alright Bratan, I will get them, what is your idea for the search? Borislav and I have an idea, but we want to hear yours."
I just shook my head "Just go and get them, we can discuss it together, plus I want everyone to hear it and think about it. If you can have everyone to the main house in about 15 minutes, it would be great."
Yaromir started to run off and yelled "Give me 20!"
I shouted back, "Alright!", and ran off to make sure the meeting room would have everything needed.
As I got back, I could see Borislav and Yaromir running about. As I got to the door, Stefan opened it and welcomed me in, "I found a map and put it on my desk for you, because if you didn't have a map it would be chaotic."
The tall man laughed and walked inside and sat down on his chair, "So Bratan, how do you plan on doing the near impossible in only a few days? I'm intrigued and interested."
I turned my head towards the man, with how much he was doing without telling Kira, it really made me question who was truly in charge of the settlement.
No harm in some small talk so I tried asking relevant questions "So, when are the scientists going to be here Stefan?"
He looked at me puzzled by my question, "They will be here the 18th, the plan is to say that there had been a group of bears that were near the settlement, and we sent the group out to get rid of them, while this was happening, they discovered a car graveyard, at which point you sent Yaromir back and left with the two heavy duty trucks to try and recover as much as possible before rust and the elements could further destroy the car frames and parts."
I nodded, "Interesting and wh-" I wouldn't get in my last question as a knock was heard at the door.
Stefan stood up and walked towards the door, "Well, they are here, lets welcome them and get right to business" He threw open the door and looked outside, "Welcome Yaromir, Bratan and I were just discussing the deadline for the mission."
Yaromir nodded and walked in, behind him was Borislav, as well as 12 other guys. They all filed into the room and stood around the table.
I was standing on one side of the table from the men and Yaromir was on the end to my left.
"Everyone welcome, my name is Bratan and I will be discussing one of the options for our approach to the mission today." I scanned the room, surveying their faces before I continued, "We will be leaving tomorrow around dawn. We will exit the settlement and head East towards Manchegorsk, my plan is I will escort the two trucks and scrappers to the car graveyard. After we arrive, we will begin searching for the bodies. 7 of you and I will head about more 10 kilometers east of the car graveyard, which is about here," I pointed to the map, about 40 kilometers east of Manchegorsk, "The reasoning is most likely they did not make it past the blockade that had been set up by the bandits in the area." I continued surveying the room as I spoke, some scowled when I mentioned the bandits, and others just looked angry, "After we search those 10 kilometers of highway, I will begin searching in a 1-kilometer radius from the graveyard, most likely they didn't spend too much effort hiding the bodies, so be on the lookout for anything off. Yaromir, Borislav, and the other car will spend their time approaching, we have four days to search over 100 kilometers of highway, most likely they aren't too close to home, but it is better to be thorough than miss them, most likely they made it past Manchegorsk, but don't accept that as fact, it could have been possible that they didn't and were ambushed in the city. It is a lot of highway to search so I wanted the crew to be working on the cars so that would not be a problem, everyone will be in groups of two so that they can watch out for each other, any questions?"
Yaromir was technically the leader of the mission, but I was the only one who knew where it was located, and this would ensure the cars could be scrapped and repaired before we would have to return.
Yaromir cleared his throat, "Bratan, why spilt up, why not just comb through the highway all at once together and work our way through?" He was obviously wondering about my thought process.
I turned towards Yaromir, "The Gaz-66 does not have the best gas consumption, so if we can capitalize on an optimal speed, we can also cut down on costs, I am having to foot the bill for some items, also, if we do that, it will require rushing at the actual site where the cars are located. So, this could allow us extra time as I and my group work towards you, Yaromir. Anyone else?"
A man in the group raised his hand, "Yeah, I got one, we are disassembling other cars there and towing the two our guys were in home, correct? What about the radioactive animals? They are dangerous!"
When the man said this a smile appeared on my face, "Well, I have a solution for that, Yaromir and I will begin handing out weapons and armor after this meeting is concluded, anything else?"
As I looked through the crowd, I could see a few men shaking their heads and a few no's. So it was time to divvy it out. "Alright Yaromir, Borislav, lets go sort the supplies and hand it out, each man will receive one Ak-47, three clips of ammo for that weapon, one set of body armor, each group will also receive one pistol and two clips of ammo. The pistols are not for any of the larger animals, they are mostly in place of flares. If you find anything, fire off a shot and others will come search. If anyone fires an AK-47 assist them, if you hear a grenade be careful, as those will only be used in case of a true emergency, we don't want to lose any more people, understand?" I was dead serious, and my demeanor was darker than earlier, "This is serious, ok, after you receive your weapons head home and get some rest, food and supplied will be distributed accordingly between all vehicles. Let's go guys we got a job to do"
And with that the weapons and armor were distributed, and everyone headed home tomorrow would be stressful.
