Chapter 32 - Accepted

The sun radiated, showering the surface with rays of its sunlight. It was rather hot this fine day. Farmers toiled and toiled without relent, beads of sweating running down their faces. Meanwhile, Xavier was inside doing his daily sword slashes to help his posture and to find the right style. Since he couldn't use mana he would go ahead and practice his swordsmanship. He left the recovery of his mana core to time. He had finally gained patience. Ever since meeting that boy, Xavier learned there is more to strength than power. Xavier would practice his daily slashes as time goes on and when his mana core heals. Vivian estimated it to heal in about two months. Xavier wondered how sloppy he would be after that long.

As Feran walked in on Xavier's training he said," I killed that Wendigo. It was strong, if you hadn't run you'd be dead for sure." Feran had a few scratches on him but it wasn't anything life-threatening." Also, I found a lot of dead bodies, that things been secreting bringing people to its territory without them knowing. I wouldn't be surprised used if it made fake help calls since it can speak anyway."

" You should probably patch yourself up since mom isn't home. And please don't go around Xandyr bleeding like that." Xavier said.

" Oh come on, he's my son," Feran replied." Oh right! Got two letters for you." Feran gave Xavier the letters.

' Let's see, the first one is from the Adventurers Guild. We received the recommendation letter of you from someone worth high value to us. There is a golden ticket please use that when you reach the guild. When that happens, you will be signed up instantly without waiting days or months. This is an invitation to the adventurers guild we need more talented people like yourself. From the Adventurers Guild personal receptionist, Lydia.'

" That old guy really got through didn't he?" Xavier smiled as he read the letter.

As Xavier opened the other letter, it was from the prestigious magic academy which was the best magic school ever known.' Hello Xavier, this letter was sent to you by the principal. Sorry, I never tell anyone my name, it's my secret well now the point of the letter. We received this recommendation from one of our best professors and my favorite, Baron. We have heard a lot about you and how talented you are and we would like a chance to meet you. Of course, since you're so far away from the school I'll be the one coming to your home. When I reach there I would like to discuss more info with you. Letters take an amount of two days to reach Třekov and the day this letter reaches, I'll be coming to meet you.'

" Dad! When was the second letter sent?" Xavier shouted since Feran was in another room.

" About two days ago, why?"

Xavier's eyes opened in shock," That means the principal is coming today."

Whenever Vivian was not home the house would look upside down. As Alex, Xavier would clean the whole house but in this life, he grew a bit spoiled. Sure he did clean at Baron's but he had no choice did he? He had to clean the whole house now that Vivian wasn't home. Feran didn't even clean even though he was the man of the house.

' Looks like I'm alone." Xavier grabbed a broom and started sweeping aggressively. He swept every inch of dust, he didn't let a single spec of dust go. And when he was finished, he grabbed a cloth and wiped the floor.

" Damn it! Why do mops not exist in this world!" Xavier complained?

When he was finished, he heard the doorbell ringing.

" The principal's here!"

Xavier then rushed to the door and opened it. An old man stood in front of him. He looked fairly decent for his age. He had grey hair, green eyes, and wore a black suit. He also walked with a cane.

He reached out his hand," Nice to meet you, Xavier."

They then did a handshake before going inside. As they sat down, the principal asked," So where are your parents?"

" Well my mom isn't home and my dad is probably playing with my baby brother," Xavier replied.

The house looked shinier than ever that it surprised the principal." Ahem!" He cleared his throat," So now, which magic rank are you on?"

Xavier scratched his head in embarrassment," That I don't know."

The old man laughed," Don't worry, everyone gets lost within the rank system it was the same for me too. So which type of magic are you good at?" He asked.

" Elemental magic," Xavier replied quickly.

" What can you do, and how good are you at it?" The principal asked.

" I can do all and I'm a bit decent at it. I would say I'm best at using ice magic but otherwise, I'm great with all elements." Xavier said.

The old man smiled," That's a nice talent if only I could see a demonstration."

" You see, the town was attacked by The Harbinger Of..."

The old man then interrupted," I know."

" How?" Xavier asked.

" News spread fast when it comes to that rogue knight." The old man answered." He must have been a strong opponent."

" I mean, of course, he was. He was an undead should I even call it he?"

The old man was shocked, he then got up." That about explains it. How he was undefeated and how he was around for years. Feran, your dad, must've defeated him right?"

" Well, you could say that considering he did the most damage but mom came out of nowhere and finished the thing," Xavier said.

" How'd she pull that off," the principal asked.

" I don't know, some kind of light?" Xavier was still confused and even forgot to ask her what the light was.

" That about explains it, she is a healer after all." The old man whispered.

Though regeneration magic was considered a subset, it wasn't. While elements came from gods and subsets all derived from elements in one way another, regeneration magic was different. Its power came from holy energy just like the items God gave to his seventh servants. It could erase such evil as the undead, however, only a few healing magic users were blessed with this ability.

" What's that?" Xavier heard the old man whispering but didn't know what he was saying.

" Nothing, just an old man muttering to himself. Well then, the enrollment for the magic academy takes place every year on the sixth month of each year. I'm aware you plan to become an adventurer at twelve but would you mind if we take a bit off of your time? You'll only be an adventurer for six months, so please tell me if you accept or not."

" Accepted!" Xavier answered instantly." I wasn't planning to be an adventurer for years anyway."

" Oh thank you! Also, might I ask who your teacher is?" The old asked.

Xavier then summoned his grimoire," This thing."

" A black grimoire huh? A black grimoire is considered a powerful grimoire but sometimes people often misuse it for bad things. Well then Xavier, allow this old man to take his leave." He then walked by the door and he gave Xavier a wink.

" Bye Mr. Principal." Xavier waved the old man goodbye.
