Xavier was busy researching magic again at his favorite spot,' the study tree'. It wouldn't be long again until he could manipulate magic. He who was impatient had patiently waited for it to happen. Though he wanted to know just how unpracticed he would be after so long. Anyone would worry in a situation like that, wouldn't they? Reading manuals, magic books and always checking his grimoire made his days fly faster than ever before. He was currently reading a book called,' Magic History'. The book contained the history of many strong magic users and how they came to be.
As Xavier was reading, he heard the sound of a twig snapping," Who's there?"
Alex then retreated from the darkness," I had a gut feeling that you would be here."
" You wouldn't just follow me for no reason, what do you want?" Xavier asked.
" Umm, ahhh." Alex was having trouble finding his words.
" Come on, spit it out I don't have all day!" Xavier rushed him.
" I'm getting weaker okay, so I came here to ask you."
" Oh, it's about time that happened."
Alex then scratched his head," What do you mean?"
" You're losing power because this is not your real abilities and mana levels. This is just how much potential you have and if you could use it you'd certainly be strong. Losing abilities after awakening is an everyday thing, the reason why you're losing them is that awakening drains all the dormant mana you had stored up in you for years and mana you had no idea about." Xavier explained.
" I would be lying if I said I get it."
" Now's not the time Alex."
" But how do you stop it?" Alex asked.
" You don't, moreover you can't."
Alex scratched the back of his head," Why?"
" It's like I said, you can't. Just focus on training now it should help you." Xavier said.
" But I suck at that and I have no one to teach me at all."
" So you want me to be your trainer?" Xavier asked.
" Better than nothing I guess."
Xavier narrowed his eyes," So I'm that low that I can be compared to nothing?"
" Let's go to fields!" Alex shouted.
" Now? Do you seriously want me to train you right now?" Xavier asked.
" Just show me a few things," Alex said as he was already far away, you could barely hear his voice.
" Oh come on! Another distraction." Xavier complained as he followed Alex.
Their house was surrounded by the woods and beyond that was a forest. Both Alex and Xavier then ventured into the woods. As they walked a few steps, they came across something that shouldn't even be called a field as it was just a small piece of land. It was what Alex had been calling a field for the longest time now. Xavier expected a long beautiful field with well-kept grass and blowing winds but he got hit in reality more than ever now. Xavier just watched at the so-called ' field' with disappointment, he even cringed. He had known way better fields which he could have taken Alex yet Alex took this one.' Now, this makes me wonder if Alex lives in the bushes. I mean, you barely see the guy anyway.' Xavier thought as he followed Alex into the small, very small, field.
" Just do an earth spell or something, I'll instruct you on how to properly use it," Xavier said to Alex.
" Fine by me," Alex replied.
Alex then closed his eyes and channeled mana just like before. He focused and channeled enough to almost feel all the mana in the environment. Alex then struck his palm out then sudden vibrations and rumbles on the floor could be felt and heard. Alex then conjured an earth spike which shot out of the ground.
" It's definitely smaller than how it was back at the festival," Xavier confirmed.
" Not only this but other spells too," Alex replied.
" Okay go again but this time rather than just firing an earth spike after apparently 'bonding with the earth', try to imagine it first," Xavier explained.
" I don't know if that will help, but whatever you say chief."
Alex then pushed his palm out once again, he blocked off everything, the only thing he could hear was his breathing. It was almost as if he was in a cage with no one else there, not even a bird; that showed how focused he was. He then closed his eyes once more, as he opened his imagination to try to imagine the earth spike. As it was just a regular sharp rock enhanced by magic, it was quite easy to imagine by anyone. Alex then desperately tried to picture it even more without breaking his focus one bit. He could even feel the floor below him. As he opened his eyes, he stood in front of an earth spike. He looked around to find Xavier but he wasn't even home anymore. He was somewhere else but he was able to tell that he was just imagining it. As Alex felt his mana overflowing he opened his eyes immediately and raised his arm as high and long as he could. Rushing out of the floor stood an earth spike.
" Uh, Xa-Xavier..."
" You didn't expect it to work, did you? But now you know your lesson." Xavier accused him.
" I didn't expect to be such a great teacher," Alex finally declared.
Xavier then approached it" Yep, it's different than the other one you just cast."
The earth spike was a bit bigger but it was noticeable so Xavier took it as progress as he always did even when he had Alex's same difficulty with losing his mana except he was a bit angrier, anxious, and impatient about it as he always rushed to gain strength quickly. At least he learned his lesson.' I wonder if I'm enough to show him earth magic. I know nearly nothing when it comes to earth magic. All I know is a few spells. Is there anyone, no, a strong earth user who could teach Alex?'
Xavier then pounded his clenched fist against his palm as he concluded," Wayne!"
