It was a freezing cold early morning. The sky looked grey and nearly anyone was awake. The sun couldn't even be seen in the bright grey sky. The breeze didn't pass by because if it did it would freeze people to death for it was that of a cold morning. There was not a sound, it was silent; no one but the birds spoke. Most people were already sleeping about this time, but most of the town already started selling even when there was not a customer. The environment felt dead and quiet, however, it was like this every early morning. The town of Třekov was normally noisy but in the early mornings, people weren't active at all. One could walk the streets of Třekov at this moment and only three or four people. The early morning was almost like a late night for there was not a bit of sound.
Whenever there was a sound, it would the children of Třekov but they weren't even awake yet; which was a good thing. The town looked vacant— it was almost like time had frozen in place. Xavier was already up, he would wake up around this time because it was quiet. Xavier stood standing over a fence in the town— not even Vivian was awake. Xavier had a habit of waking up earlier than others. It was quite peaceful, almost like only the animals roamed.
As Xavier looked upon the town, he noticed a strange group but he couldn't get to see their faces. They changed into patrol clothing which was worn by guards. They dragged something but Xavier could not see; they even tried to hide from something. They didn't look familiar, maybe they were tourists? Either way, Xavier was uninterested in getting in trouble. The moment Xavier almost got a close look at their faces, Xandyr started crying out loudly; Xavier had to comfort him otherwise he would wake up Vivian. As Xavier entered the house, with a few steps he was already at the crib— he took Xandyr out of the crib and held him as he went back outside. Just being held by Xavier was enough so Xandyr stopped crying.
Xavier tiptoed as he walked unhurriedly. He peeked at the men if they were a threat in any way he would take care of them himself. If Feran was not here to protect the town maybe Xavier had to.
As Xavier looked at the men, he noticed weapons. They were trying to sneak weapons into Třekov.
" Just what are these idiots doing?" Xavier grew a bit suspicious at the group of men. And no, not because the six men were in one spot together for hours." I'll go check them out when Xandyr goes back to sleep." Xavier said as he comforted Xandyr.
Xandyr was already asleep, Xavier didn't even notice. He probably dropped asleep while Xavier held him. Xavier then carried Xandyr back in his crib. It wasn't long until he decided to counter them. Xavier then left the house, jumped over the fence, and was now walking down the steep hill. If he had run down, he would fall. Either way, Xavier had to question them. If they were doing something illegal then he had to be the one to stop it. As Xavier walked down the hill, he was now in Třekov which looked as if no one was there. Maybe they chose to do what they are doing right now because no one would see them, or so they thought. As Xavier left closer in the forest by an abandoned house, he had made it. Xavier immediately spotted them and so did they see him.
" Shit! Someone's here." They immediately drew their swords.
" Come on? Are you that worried, it's just a dumb kid." A monkey face man with a loud voice said." I say we tie him up before he spreads this to anyone. Hey kid, wanna join us."
As Xavier pushed his palm forward, Xavier then channeled mana through his magic stone and shot at ice brick at the monkey-faced man. As the ice brick flew in a second and hit his head; he fell down, losing consciousness. The moment the man's head hit the ground, his body slammed loudly. As the other approached Xavier, he had no idea that one of his partners was down. As the man sneaked, he then tried snatching Xavier who stood there and did not move once a bit. And the moment he placed his hands on Xavier, nearly the whole of his both arms were frozen. The man wailed like a body as only his arms were frozen, imagine if he got his partner's treatment. The moment Xavier tried questioning him, the others saw him. They then drew their swords. They were no idiots they could tell that he was a dangerous magic-user. Xavier then summoned smoke just like last time but this time he wasn't retreating. Xavier climbed up a tree and peeped at them. And while they looking for him in the smoke, Xavier took that time to cast an ice spell. The spell was a long one to cast but summoning the smoke gave him enough time to do so. It was a spell he saw in the grimoire, in fact, Xavier read the whole four pages now all he had to do was get stronger to unlock more pages. The spell would take a minute to get ready.
And the moment the spell was ready to cast, Xavier spotted his targets.
" Frozen ice doves," Xavier shouted the incantation.
And the moment they spotted him, ice grew out of the ground and froze them in place.
" What are your motives?" Xavier questioned.
The atmosphere was tense. As they stared at each other in high bloodlust. Xavier then pointed his Venombite at one of their throats.
" This thing is poisonous so if you don't talk, you know what happens." Xavier placed his dagger closer to the man's throat.
" Fine."
The men had finally given in.
