Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Jang mi's pov

"Hello I'm Jangmi"

I practiced in my room with a smile on my face as I looked at the bed when my beautiful uniform laid, It was a white long sleeved shirt with beautiful buttons, a blue printed skirt and a beautiful blue tie beside it laid some white socks and at the other end of the bed were my beautiful black shoes. I looked back at mirror to practice my smile, a figure stood behind me as clearly shown by the mirror.

"Are you just going to stand there mom?"

I asked as I ran towards her to pull her into the room. She looked at me with those sad eyes she had been using to view me all my life.

"If you don't want me to go I won't"

I said sadly as I hugged her, she could see my pain and I was sure of it, it had always been visible.

"Are you sure you don't wanna continue homeschooling?"

Mom asked with a light frown on her face

"I don't want to"

I said almost immediately before I noticed mom frown move past just light

"Then I won't stop you"

Mom said to me forcing out a smile on her face.

She cupped my face in her palm.

"It's the first time I've seen you so lively in years Jang mi, I could never take this happiness from you"

She said with smiles as the tears gathered in her eyes, was she going to start crying again? Crying had become an oddly rare thing to mom ever since the doctors said I had eleven months left to live. I could never forget the image of her crashing to the ground.

I was born with a very weak heart that found it difficult to pump my blood for me, at a young age I had already been through a lot of surgeries but the only assistance they could provide was prolonging my life not saving, it the weight of my ailment was mostly on mom and dad. There were times mom and dad would curse at each other and times mom would apologize to me for giving birth to me this way other times mom would walk into my room to cry on me while I sleep. I even had to be homeschooled but all that changed three days ago when the doctor dropped the bombshell at the hospital after I collasped.

"I'm dying right?"

I asked when I woke up and met their piercing eyes staring at me. Mom couldn't hold back she hugged me tight and asked me to shush then plastered a kiss on my forehead before dad joined her, that image of mom in my head broke me, she had cried uncontrollably while I just stayed like a rock emotionless and expressionless.

"I'm fine mom"

I said with a weak smile but everyone knew that was a lie even I did I could feel my life slipping from my fingers and I couldn't hold on to it.

Mom just stared at me as the tears flowed like endless rainfall.

"How long do I have left?"

I asked as I turned to them

" Eleven...months"

The words shaked as the fell of mom's mouth and dad tried to comfort her. I couldn't help but admire the sight of them together.

"Don't cry.."

I said weakly

"It breaks me and you both should stay together more you both look great when you are not fighting"

I smiled weakly and they both nodded, that was a first but one thing was for sure that was the last time in the past three days mom had cried.

Going to school had been a wish of mine for a long time mom knew, dad knew. I was so excited when we got home and they said

"Do you want to go to school?"

I nodded yes but the joy on my face was surely more than that the only places I had been to was home and the hospital, the only people I knew were parents, doctors and my home teachers.

"Yes mom"

I said and threw myself softly into her arms.

The next day she had me registered in an elite highschool and tomorrow is to be my first day.

I threw one of my perfect smile again at the mirror after mom had left me and was about to continue my practice before I remembered that I was yet to pack my backpack. I ransacked the room to find my thing that were hovering around and put them together. I kept practicing till I fell asleep because I wanted to be perfect tomorrow.

Meanwhile at my parents room mom was crying and dad was tired of it

"Please stop" He said when he couldn't take it anymore but that only brought out more tears from her.

"Aren't you scared?"

She asked teary

"I am love but I'm sure Jang mi wouldn't want us crying over her if you noticed she didn't shed a drop of tears"

Dad said and mom rolled her eyes

"She's scared"

"How can I not cry? My child is dying"

Mom voice had become hoarse and she had tears in her throat. Dad pulled her in and kissed her out of the blue, that was a first in three years, he pulled out and cupped her face in his palm.

"I feel like dying with her"

Dad said his emotions were crystal clear, mom could see the gathers of tear in his eyes and she hugged him.

"But what can we do"

He asked no one

"We are only permitted to smile in front of Jang mi"

Dad said to mom as he wrapped his hands around her.

Finally it's morning!!

I exclaimed as I rose up from bed and sped off to the bathroom took my shower with my pink sponge and towel afterwards I brushed and then got dressed and just in case mom was about to change her mind I put on an expectant face and went straight to their room.

With a smile that beamed on my face I greeted both my parents, they returned my greeting as well as my smile.

"All ready for school aren't we?"

Mom asked and I nodded with a smile

"Have you had breakfast?"

Mom asked

"I'm not hungry mom"

I said with a smile but mom frowned

"You haven't had your drugs yet"

She got of the bed and picked my medicine from her stand took me in my arms and led me downstairs while dad got ready to take me to school.

She quickly whipped up some scrambled eggs and gave me my medicine afterwards.

"Are you alright?"

She asked but didn't even wait for my reply before she said

"If you ever want to quit just say so I won't hesitate...

"I'm fine mom"

I cut in before hugging her

"I'm going now"

I said as soon as I sighted dad then we went to the car mom trailing behind for once we felt like a normal family like the ones I had seen in the movies

We got into the car and dad drove off on the way I enjoyed the scenery till we finally got there, dad completed all the formalities needed and dropped me in front of my classroom.

Finally it was the moment I had practiced for, I looked briefly at dad before I faced the door with my hands on the knob I twisted it and walked in.
