"Excuse me"
The voice made Yahwi turn towards that person.
"Students aren't allowed to enter in this room. It's for the teachers. Aigoo… students these days. Tch..tch. Go back to your class quickly." Said the man in this rusty voice. He was appearing to be in his mid 50s with his spectacles resting on his nose and in his hand was a thick book.
"I think you misunderstood. I'm the new Literature teacher who joined today. Nice to meet you, my name is Go Yahwi and I'll be in your care." Yahwi tried to be respectful towards the man who just interrupted his peaceful lone time. But only him and God knows about all the things going inside his head for this old bat.
The old man didn't showed much interest in him and walked straight towards his desk, while mumbling something undecipherable.
Yahwi, neither sat nor moved. He stood motionless like a statue, only his pupils moved which followed the old man. He had many things in his mind, which he wanted to say to the old man, but he decided to stay quiet.
The old man sat down in his chair, and looked at Yahwi with judging eyes.
"Why are you still standing? Sit down or else the students will see you and then they'll spread rumors that an honorable teacher like myself, is bullying the newbie. By the way, my name is Kim Dae Jin, If you need any help or need to ask about something in the future just…. Go to the administrative department." The old man said, while looking at something in his computer. He not even once looked at Yahwi while speaking.
(Honorable my ass!) {*It's Yahwi's inner thought}
"*Yea..I'll keep that in my mind, Kim Dae Jin *Seonsaengnim" Yahwi smiled and bowed a little before sitting in his seat.
(Yea- Yahwi said 'Yes' in Korean language. It is more formal as compared to 'eung'
Seonseangnim- teacher)
"This school really got some handful of teachers and students" Yahwi thought to himself while glancing at the old man who was now munching on his snack, while all his attention was still in his computer.
"Can I come in Ssaem!?"
The voice attracted the attention of both the teachers. It made the old man look up from his computer and find for the source of the voice which came from the door. Yahwi also turned back to see who it was.
"I have something to ask you." The voice belonged to none other than Yohan. He was smiling, while both his hands were inside his pockets. His eyes were fixed at Yahwi's direction.
"Yes.. yes. Sure. You can ask me anything. I'll help you in every possible way afterall you're the top student of this school. You're our pride." The old man spoke with enthusiasm with made Yahwi look at him.
He had the same smile as Yahwi. A fake smile.
"I'm not talking to you, Kim Ssaem. You just sit down and do whatever you were doing." Yohan said with a sour face. He was irritated by this old geezer who was trying to flatter him.
"Aaah… sure. I won't disturb you. You can ask your new teacher anything. I taught him everything very well." The old man replied but it was a bit awkward than before, but still he didn't let go of his fake smile.
Yahwi was boiling with anger. He didn't want someone to speak the same way as Yohan did with the old man. He won't accept it.
Neither will he be a bootlicker like him.
"Ais-…" he bit his tongue, reminding himself where he was . He looked at the other teacher awkwardly, before looking back at Yohan with a stern face.
"I know you are young and all but speak respectfully with your teachers. Go back to your classes, whatever your question is, ask it tomorrow.!"
Both the old teacher and Yohan were surprised upon hearing Yahwi. It was the first time for both of them to hear someone talk so causally with Yahwi, expect Haneul, after knowing his background and family. For a moment they thought that this teacher didn't knew who Lim Yohan was. But that excuse was nearly impossible because he appeared quite a few times in the television along with his family, as being the only heir of the top national company which is famous internationally too.
Yohan smirked. He was thrilled to the core. It was getting boring at school and just look at the coincidence, someone is here to take away his boredom.
"Sure! Why not. Then, I won't disturb you both, and my question will be pending till tomorrow." Yohan stated before leaving the room.
The moment Yohan was out of both the teachers sight, the old man lashed straight at Yahwi with grim looking face.
"You brat, do you even know what you just did. You- Do you even have any idea who he is? I've never came across someone as reckless as you….Aigo" the old man grabbed his neck and sat down in the chair beside him dramatically.
"Seonsaengnim, I'm well aware of my actions and I also know who he is, but that just doesn't give him the right to talk rudely with you. We are teachers, we have the duty to educate them if they are doing something wrong and punish them if they don't respect us." Yahwi replied with utmost sincerity. It is very rare for him to speak his mind, especially in front of others but this time he had to….. even though it was not completely what he was thinking.
*Sigh*"Young man, these type of philosophies are better off in the books, but learn to live in real world. The world we live in, the society we live in, favor's those with power. And we, the powerless, just have to live spinelessly. We have to keep our needs and wants, above our self esteem. If we dare to go against them, we get nothing other than insult from others. The things I'm saying now might not go through your head right now, but some day you'll realize that the things this wrinkly old man is saying, are all actually the true side of the world. I'm speaking from experience." The old man patted Yahwi's shoulder before going back to his table.
Yahwi wanted to deny the words of the old teacher but deep inside in his heart he knew, that it was all meticulously accurate. He had no other choice but to swallow this truth. He knows it all about this side of the society, from the very start but still finds it difficult to cope up with this type of situation every time he comes across one.
