Chereads / Innocent wife / Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

Sir Charles sat in his study with his son and grandson. They both looked bored and wished to be anywhere but there.

"I want you to get married, Neil," Charles said getting straight to the point. Neil's head snapped up so quickly Charles thought it was going to detach from his body.

"Listen old man. I get that you are dying but if this is supposed to be your last wish on earth. I am sorry to say grandfather but you are going to be disappointed" Neil replied with a firm and cold voice that left no room for argument but Charles wasn't having any of it.

"You will do exactly as I say and marry the girl I have chosen for you." Charles retorted with that look. The look he gave the investors who refused to invest in his business while it was still growing before they were found dead in their mansion the next morning floating in their pool of blood. That was his sick style of killing. He never let people do his dirty work for him. He would personally visit his enemies give, give them a swift death and find the nearest pool to dispose of their bodies. Then he will sit nearby and watch the water gradually bloody red.

Neil shifted in his seat and looked his grandfather in the eye. The old man had no idea his grandson knew of the spies he sent to keep track of his activities. He refused to be fooled by the old man sitting in from of him and he was so sure that the woman he was going to marry would be a cheat, liar, and a gold digger just like his whole family.

"I am not afraid of you, old man." He saw the slight surprise in his grandfather's eyes. But it vanished as soon as it appeared.

"I will marry the girl." He started and got up. In quick strides, he left the room, shutting the door aggressively behind him and leaving the other two men in silence.

"Micheal."

"Father."

Tension was so thick in the room anyone outside could feel it.

"I have a job to get back to if you don't mind." He said in a cold voice and left the room as aggressively as his son. Micheal had always been a man of very few words. He could go a week without talking and emotions and that is what made him more dangerous. The fact that no one could tell what was going through his mind. He never had a boring look, which could be deceitful or true. He always kept a neutral expression, it was quite frustrating.

Charles looked at the door his son and grandson left through. He wasn't a fool, no MAN will willing to give into marriage after a threat especially not his stubborn grandson but he was ready to push an innocent soul into his scheme.

....

Samara entered the living room of her dad's house. She had returned from another unsuccessful job hunt and was now considering taking a job on campus. If her situation did not improve soon she won't have any money to take care of her father and herself.

Her phone rang repeatedly in her back pocket but she knew who was calling already. Her ex-boyfriend was asking for a sum of 1000 dollars because he claimed that she was responsible for his new girlfriend's fractured arm. Her ex-boyfriend was a rich guy. He practically had his morning bath with money in his bathtub but he was doing this to get back at her for refusing to have sex with him. Besides, the bitch had it coming, she tore her notebook.

"Assholes." She muttered as her phone pinged with a new text message.

You poor motherfucker. you better have my money by next month or I am taking you to court and nothing will save your flat ass there. And for God's sake stop fucking ignoring my calls. You don't know what you're dealing with.- Jake.

What did she see in this guy? She thought.

But she knew her answer. Jake wasn't always like this. He was the best thing that ever happened to her after her father. She met him at tennis practice and he was the sweetest guy. He would hold her hand every time, saying he wanted the whole school to know who his girlfriend was. He would make her come to his basketball practice in his jersey and run to the stand to kiss her after every basket. He would secretly buy new clothes and shoes for her and tag them with a 'note from dad' saying he just saw this on his way back from work and decided it will look good on her. Once she had forgotten to wear a tampon on her period and got her jeans badly stained she was so worried and embarrassed started crying. Raven had called him and he made her wear his sweater to his apartment and fed her ice cream till I slept.

Samara's POV

Unfortunately, that was the night everything changed. His childhood friend had returned from China after 10 years. We didn't get along so well at first but then she started picking up fights unnecessarily and Jake always took her side. He came to my room partially drunk, one night when Raven was out for a party and tried to force himself on me. I refused and he disclosed how he and Leona, his best friend had been sleeping together behind my back. Raven came back early and forced him out of our room before comforting me.

Samara let a tear slip from her eyes. She was just tired of her unending problems. She had considered suicide once but disposed of the thought after thinking of her father. There will be no one to take care of him if she dies.

or maybe we could work something out, okay baby.😁😁😘 -Jake.

Asshole.

I will get you your money soon- Samara.

As she read the message repeatedly, she wondered just where the 1000 dollar bundle would fall from. Dad's hospital bills were piling up rapidly and insurance will not be able to cover all costs. She needed to do something. And fast.

...

On the third ring, Raven picked her phone.

"Hey Samara, what's wrong?"

Samara rarely asked for help but right now she was out of options.

"I need your help."
