"But I still see no reason why you should give up Peter as your driver." I argued stubbornly.
"I send most of my time here at the senior center, I'm sure Peter is more than glad to leave my boring ass and move to someone who will actually make him drive. Trust me this is for the best."
"If you say so, but if you ever need to use him, he's all yours okay." I knew this wouldn't even happen, but I said it to make myself better for stealing his driver and as if he understood my worries he answered with a "Sure."
"So how is my grandson doing? I hope he's treating you right sunshine."
"He is, he is, we watched a movie together last night." The lie rolled out so smoothly, it could have been assumed that I had spent weeks practicing.
"Really, I can't remember the last time Neil watched a movie." I could feel my heartbeat accelerate and my brain cells were running around in my head trying to find a response.
