Chapter 24 - Aftermath

While all that chaos was happening {My fault! I like it though.} don't interrupt Yggardael, I have the ability to erase you from existence.

So, where was I? Oh yes, I was about to show you the aftermath and the fallen star-boys' situation. Here we go!

Having caught up AND caught Dust, the four sibling trees went back to their hill.

*Mine has a little bit of free will, so it'll be fun to play with him!*

+No fair, Cherni! All of ours barely even have sentience unless we weaken the mark!+

-Don't be so seedy, Constellase, we can always weaken it since the skeletons aren't strong enough to even make a dent in the seal anyways.-

+Fine, I'll weaken it a bit.+

The Starfruit tree then reached towards Horror and took off two layers of the cornucopia symbol on his forehead, leaving only 6 layers left.

"Wha... what happened? Am I dreami- ow! Definitely not a dream. Or a nightmare, where am I?"

+You're at my-+.

-We're at aunt Ygga's place, caretaker!-

The Starfruit sapling turned around to the mango one quickly, seemingly angry at its sibling for interrupting its introduction.

Horror was startled and confused about it all. When did he get here? Why couldn't he remember anything from earlier? How powerful were these trees?

+well, as the mango sprout said, you are my caretaker now! You have to water me and entertain me as my enslaved caretaker, so,+

The sapling took off its pot and planted itself on the most sunny spot on the hill.

+Here, a fruit I grew earlier. Can't have a starving slave, after all. Starved ones tend to get rowdy.+

Appreciating the fruit given to him while also being mildly offended at being pacified with a fruit, Horror took a small bite, not trusting whether or not the fruit had side effects.

He slowly ate faster, as the fruit didn't have the typical waxy skin and sour flesh, instead having soft skin and a sweet, firm flesh.

*Hey, you didn't tell us you could grow fruit already!*

+You'll be able to grow your own in a few months and there would be a lot, but I spent a lot of effort on that one fruit. Besides, I wasn't pollinated to there wouldn't be any seeds.+

=Really? I thought we could only grow fruit if we were pollinated!=

+Eh, my entire species works like this anyways.+

Intent on listening on the conversation between the saplings, all he could get was how the one named Constella was able to produce the fruit he received at such a young age. Not useful, but he also learned the names of the other saplings his friends were enslaved under.

Mangore, Cherni, and Pentura.

One by one, his friends were slowly 'woken up' by the trees lessening their mark's influence...

Now, with the star boys!

Ink was sitting down with empty eye sockets, holding a small, glowing ball jumping up and down with small 'eeps' and other various small noises. He knew that Dream was trying to cheer him up, but he still felt guilty. He was the oldest one of the trio, or at least older than Blue. He should have stopped Blue from fighting that giant THING. That sadistic eldritch plant. But he didn't. He supported Blue in fighting IT, and now Dream was permanently like this from what he could hear and Blue was possibly mentally dead from that pile of firewood's influence. It was his fault.

Dream knew his efforts were useless, and despite how hard he tried, he still couldn't get Ink to respond. Dream tried to access his magic, but found it to be as pitiful as a babybones' mama pool. He was utterly useless in being a long-range support-type so he was taken by that tree. If he was only more vigilant, he would have noticed the rumbling and his friends wouldn't be in this situation.

The pair wallowed in self regre- {As they should!}. Yggardael I am holding back my urge to cut you down with another mental problem to put in your branches, don't interrupt me again i SWEAR-
